Esti artículu recueye un llargu y percuriáu trabayu de campu qu’identifica la toponimia medieval del conceyu de Llanes conseñada na documentación del desapaecíu monesteriu benedictín de San Salvador de Celoriu. La conclusión principal ye una doble constatación: primero, la d’una gran continuidá de les denominaciones y usos toponímicos hasta hai pocos años y, per otru llau, un rápidu procesu d’escurecimientu sobreveníu sobre too polos nuevos usos del suelu, que pon en trance de desapaición una parte bultable de la microtoponimia medieval vixente na cultura tradicional, This article includes extensive fieldwork that has identified the medieval toponymy of the conceyu de Llanes mentioned in the documentation of the Benedictine monastery of San Salvador de Celoriu. This study draws two main conclusions: first, a continuous use of the toponymic names until a few years ago and, on the other hand, a rapid process of darkening resulting from new uses of the land which has endagered much of the medieval minor toponymy present in traditional culture

Sensor prototype to evaluate the contact force in measuring with coordinate measuring arms

This paper describes the design, development and evaluation tests of an integrated force sensor prototype for portable Coordinate Measuring Arms (CMAs or AACMMs). The development is based on the use of strain gauges located on the surface of the CMAs’ hard probe. The strain gauges as well as their cables and connectors have been protected with a custom case, made by Additive Manufacturing techniques (Polyjet 3D). The same method has been selected to manufacture an ergonomic handle that includes trigger mechanics and the electronic components required for synchronizing the trigger signal when probing occurs. The paper also describes the monitoring software that reads the signals in real time, the calibration procedure of the prototype and the validation tests oriented towards increasing knowledge of the forces employed in manual probing. Several experiments read and record the force in real time comparing different ways of probing (discontinuous and continuous contact) and measuring different types of geometric features, from single planes to exterior cylinders, cones, or spheres, through interior features. The probing force is separated into two components allowing the influence of these strategies in probe deformation to be known. The final goal of this research is to improve the probing technique, for example by using an operator training programme, allowing extra-force peaks and bad contacts to be minimized or just to avoid bad measurements, The authors thank the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness for its financial support of the project Quality assurance and knowledge modelling applied to portable coordinate measuring systems, ref. Sensorless control of doubly fed induction generators based on stator high-frequency signal injection

High-frequency-signal-injection-based methods have been widely investigated for sensorless position/speed control of induction machines (IMs), permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs), and, more recently, doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs). When used with IMs and PMSMs, the high-frequency signal is injected in the stator windings, an asymmetric (salient) rotor being required for this case. Contrary to this, both stator and rotor terminals are accessible and sensored in DFIGs, being therefore possible to inject the high-frequency signal either in the stator or the rotor terminals. As a consequence of this, the method can be used even if the machine is nonsalient. In the implementation of the method with DFIGs, the high-frequency voltage signal is typically injected in the rotor, the high-frequency components (voltages of currents) induced in the stator being used for rotor position estimation. A drawback of this alternative is that the method is sensitive to the grid impedance in the stator side, which will be affected by the grid configuration, and is normally unknown. This paper proposes the sensorless control of a DFIG injecting the high-frequency voltage in the stator side and using a high-frequency current cancellation strategy in the rotor side. Coverage-aware test database reduction

Functional testing of applications that process the information stored in databases often requires a careful design of the test database. The larger the test database, the more difficult it is to develop and maintain tests as well as to load and reset the test data. This paper presents an approach to reduce a database with respect to a set of SQL queries and a coverage criterion. The reduction procedures search the rows in the initial database that contribute to the coverage in order to find a representative subset that satisfies the same coverage as the initial database. The approach is automated and efficiently executed against large databases and complex queries. The evaluation is carried out over two real life applications and a well-known database benchmark. Fourier-based imaging for subsampled multistatic arrays

This contribution focuses on the limitations of Fourier-based imaging when applied to subsampled arrays used in multistatic millimeter-wave radar systems. The aim is to determine the relationship between the size of the object under test (OUT), its position with respect to the radar aperture, and the sampling requirements on the aperture so as to recover aliasing-free images. Based on the analysis results, a method for recovering spectral information is proposed, the idea of which is to replicate the plane wave spectrum, and then apply a band-pass filter defined by a priori knowledge of the OUT size. For simplicity, the analysis is done in two-dimensional (2-D; range and cross-range dimensions).
