Astrocytes sense and respond to pro-inflammatory cytokines (CKs) and, by a repertoire of intracellular Ca2+ signaling, contribute to disease progression. Therapeutic approaches wish to reduce the overactivation in Ca2+ signaling in inflammatory-reactive astrocytes to restore dysregulated cellular changes. Cell-targeting therapeutics might take advantage by the use of nanomaterial-multifunctional platforms such as graphene oxide (GO). GO biomedical applications in the nervous system involve therapeutic delivery and sensing, and GO flakes were shown to enable interfacing of neuronal and glial membrane dynamics. We exploit organotypic spinal cord cultures and optical imaging to explore Ca2+ changes in astrocytes, and we report, when spinal tissue is exposed to CKs, neuroinflammatory-associated modulation of resident glia. We show the efficacy of GO to revert these dynamic changes in astrocytic reactivity to CKs, and we translate this potential in an animal model of immune-mediated neuroinflammatory disease., Peer reviewed

[Description of methods used for collection/generation of data] A citizen science questionnaire was created in the framework of Feral Cats Project in order to collect data on species captured by domestic cats. The project and a link to the questionnaire were advertised several times through online social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), mailing lists and Whatsapp groups and contacts. Volunteers were asked to attach pictures or videos about preys brought home by their own cats or to report occasional predation events performed by unowned cats such as cats living in a colony (either managed or not) or cats with unknown origin. The questionnaire was launched in autumn 2021 and kept open until the end of summer 2023. Although some volunteers reported a predation event without attaching a picture or a video, this dataset only includes those events with supporting files., [Methods for processing the data] Fake pictures or non-related pictures such as playing kittens, pictures with no apparent prey on it or selfies, were discarded as valid predation events. Valid events from other countries or Spanish regions outside Iberian Peninsula, were also discarded for not being of interest for the project. In addition, those events reporting species whose distributions are not present in Spain, were also discarded. For example: The file EBD_CSIC_WP4_FERALCATS_Captures_23_species_Fringilla_coelebs (1).jpg is a capture with a unique entry code (23), the taxon level reached in the identification of the prey (species), the scientific name of the taxon reached (Fringilla_coelebs) and a number (1) indicating if there is more than one file showing the same prey. La inscripción conmemora la puesta de la primera piedra del monasterio el 7 de mayo de 1529, cuando era prior Pedro García de Almaguer (1528-1534). Ocupa una lápida situada en uno de los contrafuertes del ábside de la iglesia (fachada oriental del convento), en forma de cartela con dos ángeles a los lados. El conjunto se encuentra situado debajo de una hornacina en la que se representa la efigie del rey David. Gran parte del texto, en castellano, es ilegible ya que la piedra está muy dañada, pero se puede restituir gracias al testimonio de autores anteriores que pudieron leerla cuando aún estaba en buen estado, especialmente Pelayo Quintero. Es una de las inscripciones más conocidas del monasterio y una de las que más veces se ha publicado, dada su gran importancia para la historia del edificio y para los historiadores del arte., CSIC.
