The present project has three main goals: one of design, other of analysis and other of optimization of the model. We will start creating the design of the model taking some references from some companies specialized in orange peel grapples considering minimum and maximum opening angles, weights, etc. Once we have the design already, we can measure the fixed distances and angles we need to do the necessary calculation. We will theoretically analyze the model and later we will analyze it with the help of a CAD program. With the analysis, we will be able to check if our model can withstand the weights and forces on the most critical parts. In the end, we will propose some optimization options to improve the model., Ingeniería Industrial

This project focuses on the study and analysis of an special kind of structure, nitrogen tank made of composite structures. The main idea of this project is for being use in a hospital because is one of the best places for the application of this kind of material, but due to the properties of the tank it will be able for use everywhere. I want to make this project using this materials because nowadays there is an important increasing of the investigation in this topic, and I think that it could improve the tanks that are manufacturing now by the companys making it too much resistant and light. The aim of the project is evaluate the improvements that composites materials makes in this type of structures, using the properties which they are going to contribute and also evaluate the most important characteristic composites has it , which is designing for using the resistances in the exactly directions that we need to makes the tank completely resistant and also do it the most cheaper way, which will be the different against the competence. The main objective of my project is showing the relationship between using some theorycal calculus and also use some programs such as mathcad or ANSYS to evaluate the final results and to be able for assuring that the tank will resist all the pressure combianation that are going to appear due to the liquid and the extreme temperatures which it has in the internal surface., Ingeniería Industrial

Solar heat use for hot water and heating preparation in a residential building

One way to reduce CO2 emissions, help to the global sustainable development and reduce the global warming is the use of clean and renewable energies. One of them is the solar energy, in fact this is one of the natural sources with more energetic potential. Due to this several prestigious entities and governments are promoting and improving the development and use of this kind of energy. For example, the Spanish government approved a law in March of 2006, named “Código Técnico de la Edificación”. This regulation is mandatory, and set the minimum quality requirements that residential buildings must have. One of them forces that new and renovated buildings have to produce part the energy demand for heating water by means of a solar thermal system. The project is going to be carried out in an old building which is being renovated. The aim of this thesis is to design and calculate the installation of a solar system for covering part of the sanitary hot water in a residential building placed in Ávila, Spain. The calculation includes dimension the system, to select the components and to obtain the solar annual coverage. After this, check that the obtained solar annual coverage is greater than the minimum one set by the law. The obtained results are the energy, fuel and money saves, as well as the initial investment and the payback of the installation., Ingeniería Industrial

El elevado crecimiento del actual ambiente socio económico llevó a la necesidad de buscar formas de obtener energía que permitan disminuir la dependencia de las fuentes de combustible fósiles y así también disminuir la contaminación medioambiental. Las fuentes renovables de baja y media temperatura son recursos energéticos de elevado potencial para la generación distribuida de electricidad. Este proyecto muestra la viabilidad termodinámica de un ciclo Rankine Orgánico (ORC) para tres fuentes renovables diferentes: energía geotérmica, energía solar y biomasa. Para realizar el estudio se fijó algunos valores, como por ejemplo, las temperaturas de trabajo de cada fuente renovable. Una vez definidas, se hizo una simulación del ciclo ORC en el programa Aspen HYSYS® v3.2. Los fluidos de trabajo del ciclo ORC son los fluidos orgánicos. Se realizó simulaciones para diferentes fluidos orgánicos y se obtuvo así los parámetros necesarios para el análisis termodinámico en función del fluido que más potencia podía generar o mayor rendimiento de ciclo presentó., Ingeniería Industrial

Reconocimiento de textos antiguos mediante técnicas de visión artficial

El objetivo de este proyecto es reconocer caracteres de textos antiguos mediante técnicas de visión artificial y redes neuronales. Distinguimos dos fases en el proceso: extracción de los caracteres de las imágenes de los textos ántiguos; y el reconocimiento mediante redes neuronales. En la primera utilizaremos las librerias de OpenCV para conseguir el objetivo, mientras que en la segunda fase partimos de un código de una red neuronal de 3 capas de la Universidad Carnegie Mellon, modicado adecuadamente a nuestro propósito. También estudiaremos la influencia en nuestros resultados de varios parámetros de la red neuronal., The aim of this project is to recognize characters in antique books, using computer vision and neural networks techniques. This process has two phases: extracting characters from images of antique books; and the recognition using neural networks. In the rst phase we will work with OpenCV libraries to reach the goal, while in the second we start from a 3-layer neural network code from the Carnegie Mellon University, adapted to our purpose.
