Ray tracing: realidad virtual y su aplicación en la arquitectura

Este trabajo tiene como objetivo indagar en las posibilidades que nos ofrece el desarrollo tecnológico en el ámbito de la representación arquitectónica y como, el paradigma de la iluminación en la arquitectura se puede potenciar conjuntamente en su carácter mas onírico y su parte mas técnica. Matter Bounce Scenario in F(T) gravity

It is shown that teleparallel F(T) theories of gravity combined with holonomy corrected Loop Quantum Cosmology (LQC) support a Matter Bounce Scenario (MBS) which is a potential alternative to the inflationary paradigm. The Matter Bounce Scenario is reviewed and, according to the current observational data provided by PLANCK’s team, we have summarized all the conditions that it has to satisfy in order to be a viable alternative to inflation, such as to provide a theoretical value of the spectral index and its running compatible with the latest PLANCK data, to have a reheating process via gravitational particle production, or to predict some signatures in the non-gaussianities of the power spectrum. The calculation of the power spectrum for scalar perturbations and the ratio of tensor to scalar perturbations has been done, in the simplest case of an exact matter dominated background, for both holonomy corrected LQC and teleparallel F(T) gravity. Finally, we have discussed the challenges (essentially, dealing with non-gaussianities, the calculation of the 3-point function in flat spatial geometries for theories beyond General Relativity) and problems (Jeans instabilities in the case of holonomy corrected LQC or local Lorentz dependence in teleparallelism) that arise in either bouncing scenario, Peer Reviewed

Aquest document tracta del treball de final de grau realitzat per dos estudiants de l’Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Manresa (EPSEM) en l’especialitat d’Electrònica Industrial i Automàtica, la idea principal del projecte és la realització del projecte d’una base d’estacionament, manteniment i càrrega de drons, situada a la zona prepirinenca de Catalunya amb la finalitat de controlar i reaccionar amb rapidesa a les fases inicials d’un incendi forestal., This document is the final degree project carried out by two students of the Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Manresa (EPSEM) specialised in Industrial and Automatic Electronics. The main goal of the project is to create a base for parking, maintenance and loading of drones, located in the pre-Pyrenees of Catalonia, for the purpose of controlling and reacting quickly to the initial stages of a forest fire.

En un moment on la població mundial creix exponencialment i on s’ha imposat una economia del consumisme, es busca l’aplicació d’una nova economia que freni l’impacte ambiental i potenciï la seva conservació. On l’ús de recursos sigui el mínim i el concepte de residu no existeixi. Com que el sector de la construcció és un dels principals components, quant a l’impacte ambiental es refereix, és necessari reescriure i redefinir les bases de l’arquitectura d’acord amb la problemàtica en la qual ens trobem per a poder fer d’ella un millor ús. És per això que es desenvolupa un nou model econòmic i es corregeixen els processos de producció en la construcció per a adaptar-los a les noves tendències. El sistema de producció lineal, que coneixíem fins a aquest moment, es reinventa per generar un nou sistema en forma de bucle. D’aquesta manera, els residus es converteixen en noves matèries primeres o materials capaços de construir nous edificis o rehabilitar els ja existents completant, d’aquesta manera, el cicle de vida de la construcció. Reduir, reutilitzar i reciclar són els tres conceptes que arriben per a fer-nos repensar els nostres processos de disseny i construcció i, d’aquesta manera, aconseguir una arquitectura més sostenible capaç de generar vincles entre la societat, l’entorn i el medi ambient., En un momento donde la población mundial crece exponencialmente y donde se ha impuesto una economía del consumismo, se busca la aplicación de una nueva economía que frene el impacto ambiental y potencie su conservación. Donde el uso de recursos sea el mínimo y el concepto de residuo no exista. Debido a que el sector de la construcción es uno de los principales componentes, en cuanto al impacto ambiental se refiere, es necesario reescribir y redefinir las bases de la arquitectura de acuerdo con la problemática en la que nos hallamos para poder hacer de ella un mejor uso. Para ello, se desarrolla un nuevo modelo económico y se corrigen los procesos de producción en la construcción para adaptarlos a las nuevas tendencias. El sistema de producción lineal, que conocíamos hasta este momento, se reinventa para generar un sistema en forma de bucle. De esta forma, los residuos se convierten en nuevas materias primas o materiales con las propiedades para construir nuevos edificios o rehabilitar los ya existentes completando, de esta forma, el ciclo de vida de la construcción. Reducir, reutilizar y reciclar son los tres conceptos que llegan para hacernos replantear nuestros procesos de diseño y construcción y, de esta forma, alcanzar una arquitectura más sostenible capaz de generar vínculos entre la sociedad, el entorno y el medioambiente., Nowadays, when the world population is growing exponentially and the economy of consumerism has been imposed, the search of a new economy can slow down the environmental impact and enhances its conservation is sought. Where the use of resources is reduced to the minimum and the concept of waste would not exist. Due to the fact that the construction sector is one of the main components in terms of environmental impact, it is necessary to redesign and recreate the bases of architecture in accordance with the problems based on the we encounter now in order to make better use of it. Do to that, a new economic model has been developed and the construction production processes have been adapted to the new trends. The linear production system we have known until today, it has been reinvented to generate a loop system. Waste has been transformed into new raw materials or materials able to construct new buildings or rehabilitating existing ones completing then, the life cycle of construction. Reducing, reusing and recycling are three concepts come across making us rethinking our design and construction processes. In this way, achieving a more sustainable architecture able to generate links between society, surroundings and the environment.

A new least-squares approximation of affine mappings for sweep algorithms

The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00366-009-0161-2, This paper presents a new algorithm to generate hexahedral meshes in extrusion geometries. Several algorithms have been devised to generate hexahedral meshes by projecting the cap surfaces along a sweep path. In all of these algorithms the crucial step is the placement of the inner layer of nodes. That is, the projection of the source surface mesh along the sweep path. From the computational point of view, sweep methods based on a least-squares approximation of an affine mapping are the fastest alternative to compute these projections. Several functionals have been introduced to perform the least-squares approximation. However, for very simple and typical geometrical configurations they may generate low-quality projected meshes. For instance, they may induce skewness and flattening effects on the projected discretizations. In addition, for these configurations the minimization of these functionals may lead to a set of normal equations with singular system matrix. In this work we analyze previously defined functionals. Based on this analysis we propose a new functional and show that its minimization overcomes these drawbacks. Matrix converter applied to energy saving for street lighting systems

This work presents a three-phase AC-AC converter, with independent phase control, based on matrix-converter structure. This converter is applied to electrical energy saving on the public lighting systems by means of regulation and control of the voltage applied to the lamps. The developed converter represents a technological improvement with respect to the traditional systems based on an autotransformer: it reduces system cost and volume, and increases lamps lifetime.

A new multicast opportunistic routing protocol for wireless mesh networks

Opportunistic Routing (OR) has been proposed to improve the efficiency of unicast protocols in wireless networks. In contrast to traditional routing, instead of preselecting a single specific node to be the next-hop forwarder, an ordered set of nodes (referred to as candidates) is selected as the next-hop potential forwarders. In this paper, we propose a new multicast routing protocol based on OR for wireless mesh networks, named Multicast OR Protocol (MORP). We compare our proposal with the well known ODMRP Multicast protocol.
