Ús de la Wiris a l’Atenea en assignatures de matemàtiques

La Wiris, incorporada a l’editor de l’Atenea, es pot fer servir tant com editor de fórmules com a calculadora simbòlica. L’editor de fórmules permet incorporar fórmules matemàtiques, matrius, vectors, símbols, etc. a fòrums, lliçons, qüestionaris, pàgines web, etc. de l’Atenea. Per altra banda, la calculadora Wiris és una eina molt útil i fàcil de fer servir per al càlcul simbòlic, com per exemple: manipulació de matrius, càlculs de límits, derivades, integrals, representació gràfica en 2D i 3D, etc. La Wiris és una bona eina tant a nivell de suport a la docència com per a l’aprenentatge de l’estudiantat i facilita la comunicació entre professorat i estudiantat a través de l’Atenea quan els missatges són de contingut matemàtic., Peer Reviewed

Autoevaluación y coevaluación: análisis multifactorial del impacto de estas técnicas en la calidad docente

En este estudio se analizan cuál es el impacto que se produce en la calidad docente al introducir técnicas de aprendizaje cooperativo con auto y coevaluación en una asignatura optativa de cuarto cuatrimestre de ingeniería técnica industrial. Se dispone de una serie sistemática de datos recogidos durante 8 cursos académicos, incluyendo rendimiento académico y satisfacción del alumno medido con la encuesta estandarizada SEEQ, así como de dos grupos control en los que se dio enseñanza tradicional. Los resultados muestran que hay mejoras estadísticamente significativas entre los alumnos que apruban con un examen final, respecto de aquellos que siguen la evaluación contínua de la asignatura. Asimismo se observa una mejora estadísticamente significativa en los items de Motivación e Interacción con el grupo de la encuesta estandarizada. Se realizó un análisis multifactorial para explicar las diferencias en los resultados académicos, concluyéndose que la aplicación de éstas técnicas es el factor predomimante, por encima de la nota de acceso a la titulación del alumno o su procedencia (Bachillerato, módulos profesionales)., Peer Reviewed

Reusable garbled gates for new fully homomorphic encryption service

In this paper, we propose a novel way to provide a fully homomorphic encryption service, namely by using garbled circuits. From a high level perspective, garbled circuits and fully homomorphic encryption, both aim at implementing complex computation on ciphertexts. We define a new cryptographic primitive named reusable garbled gate, which comes from the area of garbled circuits, then based on this new primitive we show that it is very easy to construct a fully homomorphic encryption. However, the instantiation of reusable garbled gates is rather difficult, in fact, we can only instantiate this new primitive based on indistinguishable obfuscation. Furthermore, reusable garbled gates can be a core component for constructing the reusable garbled circuits, which can reduce the communication complexity of them from O(n) to O(1). The Study of Customer Relationship Management in Thai Airline Industry: A Case of Thai Travelers in Thailand

Purpose: This paper offer marketing strategy suggestion to the airlines operating within the Thai aviation market. It identifies the recommended motivational factors that influence the airline customers’ decision to their airline choices. Airlines use different customer relationship management programs to attract returning customers. This paper suggested the most attractive motivation factors for Thailand's air travel market. Design/methodology: This research paper is an attempt to study and identify the factors, including loyalty program, distribution channel, customer services, promotions and other influence causes that affected the customer preference in the airline ticket purchasing behavior in Thailand. A questionnaire survey was conducted with the sample identified through unrestricted non probability sampling technique at four major airports in Thailand. The data collected are analyzed to identify the favorable drivers that lead to customer decision on airline choice. Findings: The result from the study has demonstrated that price, and promotion has a significant impact on customer preference and positively leads to repurchase intention for their future travel. Moreover, flight schedules are also a main factor influencing the travelers’ final decision on airline choice. However, when the promotional strategies and schedule are comparable between airlines, customers are attracted by the airline amenities and services. Loyalty program (frequent-flier program flier program) is showing a less attractive motivator while distribution channel demonstrates the least important affecting the travelers’ choice of airline. Originality/value: The paper begins with an overview of previous research in the area of airlines customer relationship management and then moves on to what is currently being implemented by the airlines. Numerical simulation of flames using flamelet models

The thesis topic is located in the domain of numerical simulation of laminar flames. The principal aim of the presented research is the study of numerical techniques for the multidimensional simulation of flames with low computational costs. Present work is divided into three parts: First part is related to the development of a C++ simulation code for 1D laminar premixed flames. In the second part, a new technique to account for differential diffusion effects is proposed, which is based on tabulated chemistry methods. The third part focuses on the analysis of partially premixed flames. A dedicated one-dimensional flame code is discussed for the simulation of complex/detailed chemistry and diffusion processes in premixed laminar flames. This code is written in C++ and is able to use different diffusion models (Fickian, Hirschfelder and Curtiss). The code yields accurate solutions of the major parameters as well as pollutant formation, both in the flame zone as well as downstream in the post-flame region. Results prove the accuracy of the code when compared to experimental data. Following, a new technique is proposed to include differential diffusion effects into flamelet models. This approach is developed in the context of tabulated chemistry methods.The technique is based on correcting the progress-variable of flamelet models. The main feature of the proposed technique is the use of only one progress variable equation (1D manifold) without requiring a second parameter. This correction technique allows including detailed chemistry effects at low-cost in numerical simulation of multidimensional flames. A series of simulations are carried out for various flames. The results are excellently matched with full model solutions/detailed chemistry solutions. The flamelet solutions databases, namely premixed and non-premixed, are further tested for partially premixed flames. This study is based on the investigation of partially premixed flame using single mode flamelet database solutions. For the verification of database solutions, finite rate chemistry simulations are also carried out to solve partially premixed flames. 3D jet coflow simulations are performed for three different level of premixing and results are compared with experimental data. The results show good agreement along with capabilities and limitations of flamelet databases solutions., El tema de la tesi es troba en el domini de la simulació numèrica de les flames laminars. L'objectiu principal de la investigació presentada és l'estudi de tècniques numèriques per a la simulació multidimensional de flames amb baixos costos computacionals. El treball actual es divideix en tres parts: La primera part es relaciona amb el desenvolupament d'un codi 1D de simulació C ++ per flames laminars premesclades. A la segona part, es proposa una nova tècnica per explicar els efectes de difusió diferencial, que es basa en mètodes de química tabulada. La tercera part se centra en l'anàlisi de flames parcialment premesclades. Es discuteix un codi de flama unidimensional dedicat per a la simulació de processos complexos i detallats de química i difusió en flames laminars premesclades. Aquest codi està escrit en C ++ i és capaç d'utilitzar diferents models de difusió (Fickian, Hirschfelder i Curtiss). El codi proporciona solucions precises dels paràmetres principals, així com la formació de contaminants, tant a la zona de la flama com a la regió posterior a la flama. Els resultats demostren l'exactitud del codi en comparació amb les dades experimentals. A continuació, es proposa una nova tècnica per a incloure efectes de difusió diferencial en models de flamelet. Aquest enfocament es desenvolupa en el context dels mètodes tabulats de química. La tècnica es basa en la correcció de la variable de progrés dels models de flamelet. La característica principal de la tècnica proposada és l'ús d'una única equació de variable de progrés (espai 1D) sense necessitat d'un segon paràmetre. Aquesta tècnica de correcció permet incloure efectes químics detallats a baix cost en la simulació numèrica de flames multidimensionals. Una sèrie de simulacions es realitzen per diverses flames. Els resultats mostren una concordància excel·lentment amb solucions completes/detallades de la química. Les bases de dades de solucions de flamelet, a saber premesclades i no premesclades, es sotmeten a proves addicionals per flames parcialment premesclades. Aquest estudi es basa en la investigació de flames parcialment prebarrejades utilitzant solucions de base de dades monomode. Per a la verificació d'aquestes bases de dades, es realitzen simulacions de química de velocitat finita per resoldre flames parcialment premesclades. Es realitzen simulacions de flux d'aire en 3D per a tres nivells diferents de premescla i els resultats es comparen amb dades experimentals. Els resultats mostren un bon acord juntament amb les capacitats i limitacions de les solucions de bases de dades de flamelet.

Integration of foreigners in Egypt: the relief of Amenhotep II shooting arrows at a copper ingot and related scenes

The relief of Amenhotep II shooting arrows at a copper ingot target has often been considered as propaganda of the king’s extraordinary strength and vigour. However, this work proposes that the scene took on additional layers of significance and had different ritual functions such as regenerating the health of the king, and ensuring the eternal victory of Egypt over foreign enemies and the victory of order over chaos. Amenhotep II was shooting arrows at an “Asiatic” ox-hide ingot because the ingot would symbolize the northern enemies of Egypt. The scene belonged to a group of representations carved during the New Kingdom on temples that showed the general image of the king defeating enemies. Moreover, it was linked to scenes painted in private tombs where goods were brought to the deceased, and to offering scenes carved on the walls of Theban temples. The full sequence of scenes would describe, and ritually promote, the process of integration of the foreign element into the Egyptian sphere., Peer Reviewed

The diameter of cyclic Kautz digraphs

We present a new kind of digraphs, called cyclic Kautz digraphs CK(d, `), which are subdigraphs of the well-known Kautz digraphs K(d, `). The latter have the smallest diameter among all digraphs with their number of vertices and degree. Cyclic Kautz digraphs CK(d, `) have vertices labeled by all possible sequences a1 . . . a` of length `, such that each character ai is chosen from an alphabet containing d + 1 distinct symbols, where the consecutive characters in the sequence are different (as in Kautz digraphs), and now also requiring that a1 , a` . Their arcs are between vertices a1a2 . . . a` and a2 . . . aà`+1, with a1 , a` and a2 , a`+1. We give the diameter of CK(d, `) for all the values of d and `, and also its number of vertices and arcs
