Structural behaviour of stainless steel frames subject to fire, Estudio del comportamiento a fuego de pórticos de acero inoxidable en edificios

Se estudia la resistencia al fuego de pórticos simples de acero inoxidable en edificios. Se plantearán diferentes esquemas estructurales de pórticos de acero inoxidable, con diferentes condiciones de proyecto y grados de utilización, y se someterán a la acción de incendio. El estudio, de carácter numérico, se llevará a cabo mediante el código Abaqus. Los resultados obtenidos se analizarán y se extraerán conclusiones relativas a la idoneidad del empleo del acero inoxidable como material resistente frente a incendio en pórticos de edificación residencial e industrial.

Information microsystems

Given their need to manage the information they have under control, organizations usually choose among two types of widely used IT solutions: 1) information systems based on databases (DBIS) that are powerful but expensive to develop and not much flexible; 2) spreadsheets, which threaten the integrity of the data and are limited in exploiting it. In this paper we propose a new type of IT solution, namely information microsystems (MicroIS), that aims at reconciling the best of these two worlds: the low development and maintenance costs, ease of use and flexibility of spreadsheets, with the structure, semantics and integrity of DBIS. The goal is not to replace any of the above two paradigms but to lie somewhere in between depending on the changing needs of the organization. From the various possible points of interest of this IT solution, the article will focus specifically on issues related to data management, introducing the conceptual model of MicroIS, the transformations and validations that can be done around it, and they way in which the structure of the information is inferred from the data that users provide., Peer Reviewed

L'Educació emocional a l'aula de Tecnologia, com a eina per a incentivar i millorar la motivació de l'alumnat i en especial de les noies vers l'assignatura

Les competències emocionals juntament amb diversos factors com els estereotips de gènere, el context sociocultural, la influència familiar i la manca de referents d'èxit, entre d'altres, s'inclouen entre les causes que poden explicar l'autopercepció infravalorada de les estudiants, pel que fa a les seves competències tecnològiques i les diferències de gènere observades en l'àmbit científic tecnològic,. La baixa presència de les noies en aquestes disciplines, és motiu de preocupació acadèmica i social. L'objectiu d'aquest treball és proposar eines i recursos d'educació emocional a l'aula de tecnologia, que millorin les competències d'autonomia emocional com ara: l'autoestima, l'automotivació i l'autoeficàcia dels nois i les noies, així com l'actitud positiva vers l'assignatura. Mitjançant enquestes a alumnes de 4t d'Educació Secundària Obligatòria, d'un Institut de Barcelona, es valoren des d'una perspectiva de gènere, les competències emocionals de l'alumnat i la seva percepció cap a la tecnologia. La cerca d'informació de l'estat de la ciència respecte a la bretxa tecnològica existent arreu del món, permeten orientar el coneixement cap a els factors que hi incideixen i enfocar el treball a la cerca de solucions que es puguin activar des de l'aula. Els resultats obtinguts reflecteixen que en general, hi ha un gran potencial de millora pel que fa al desenvolupament de les competències emocionals de regulació i d'autonomia emocional dels estudiants enquestats.

Anticipative kinodynamic planning: multi-objective robot navigation in urban and dynamic environments

The final authenticated version is available online at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10514-018-9806-6”., This paper presents the anticipative kinodynamic planning (AKP) approach for robot navigation in urban environments, while satisfying both dynamic and nonholonomic constraints. Our main motivation is to minimize the impact that the robot is doing to the environment, i.e. other pedestrians, while successfully achieving a navigation goal. To this end, we require a better understanding of the environment, and thus, we propose to integrate seamlessly a human motion prediction algorithm into the planning algorithm. In addition, we are able to anticipate for each of the robot’s calculated paths or actions the corresponding people’s future trajectories, which is essential to reduce the impact to nearby pedestrians. Multi-objective cost functions are proposed and we describe a well-posed procedure to build joint cost functions. Application of TLS intensity data for detection of brick walls defects

Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) is a well-established technique for remote acquisition of geometrical data of a tested object. For the past two decades it has been commonly used in geodesy, surveying and related areas for acquiring data about spacing of civil engineering structures and buildings. An average TLS apparatus, apart from 3D coordinates registers radiometric information of laser beam reflectance. This radiometric information of the laser beam reflectance is usually called intensity and has no meaning for solely geometric measurements. Nevertheless, the value of intensity depends mainly on physicochemical properties of scanned material such as roughness, colour and saturation. Keeping these facts in mind, authors suggest using changes in value of intensity to locate various imperfections on a brick wall. So far, authors have conducted a thorough and successful research programme dedicated to detection of saturation and saturation movement in brick walls. Based on this experience a new research programme was conducted focused on various aspects of detection of brick wall defects. The main aim of the paper is to present the possibility of using the intensity value in for the diagnostics of the technical condition of a brick walls. Mejoras del transporte neumático de semillas utilizando métodos numéricos de partículas

El trabajo consistirá en ejecutar un software de simulación numérica de partículas suspendidas en un fluido. Los cálculos se realizarán sobre tramos de tubería que transportan semillas. Se estudiará la influencia de diferentes geometrías en la homogeneidad de partículas a la salida del tramo.

Fuzzy heterogeneous neural networks are recently introduced models based on neurons accepting heterogeneous inputs (i.e. mixtures of numerical and non-numerical information possibly with missing data) with either crisp or imprecise character, which can be coupled with classical neurons. FREEDOM D3.3 - Cooperative schemes in the femto-based networks

We investigate cooperative transmission schemes that can be applied to joint deployments of femto-access points (FAPs) and macro base stations (MBS) by exploiting backhaul communication links between nodes at the data-plane level. First, we study the effects of some hardware impairments, such as time misalignment and carrier offset compensation, on cooperation performance. Additionally, we look into the MIMO X channel as a general framework that subsumes all possible types of cooperative communication between two sources and two destinations (broadcast, interference or multiple access channels), assuming full channel state information at the transmitters. Since FAPs have a delay constrained backhaul the cooperation of multiple FAPs becomes sensitive to random delays at the sources. In this regard we have provided two solutions: a) appropriate delay-tolerant cooperative space-time coding and decoding schemes and b) specific cooperative schemes for critical delay applications., Peer Reviewed

Sistema d’aparcament intel·ligent basat en F2C (Fog to Cloud)

[CATALÀ] La revolució tecnològica en les últimes dècades és innegable, i ha suposat un gran canvi en la societat. La tecnologia forma part del nostre dia a dia i cada vegada tenim més dispositius (i més varietat) connectats a la gran xarxa Internet. Alguns exemples que trobem són sensors, polseres intel·ligents, smartphones, inclús neveres i rentadores que fan que els recursos i el tràfic generat a la xarxa sigui d’un abast immens. És per aquest motiu que neixen els conceptes de IoT (Internet of Things o Internet de les coses) i el de Big Data. Experts en la matèria calculen que a l’any 2025 hi haurà més de 75 bilions de dispositius connectats a Internet [0]. Pel mateix motiu també neix el concepte de F2C (Fog to Cloud), que proposa apropar la tradicional capa cloud (núvol) a on les dades són generades pels dispositius, de manera que es redueix el tràfic que s’envia al cloud i ens aporta nombrosos beneficis, com per exemple poder oferir serveis en temps real. Per altra banda, les ciutats estan en continu creixement i es necessiten serveis que simplifiquin la vida als ciutadans i al conjunt de la ciutat, partint com no podia ser d’altra manera de la tecnologia. Si ajuntem els paràgrafs anteriors, ens trobem amb el concepte de “Smart city” (ciutat intel·ligent). És un concepte relativament nou, que està desenvolupant-se al llarg del món. Actualment ja trobem Smart cities que compten amb serveis per millorar els serveis públics i altres aspectes de la ciutat. En aquest projecte es proposa un servei d’aparcament intel·ligent amb l’objectiu d’oferir a les ciutats una manera més simple i eficient d’aparcar, partint d’una estructura F2C determinada. També es proposa un model que utilitza la capacitat de processament dels vehicles aparcats a un pàrquing intel·ligent per tal de poder executar serveis/programes de forma distribuïda, aprofitant així els recursos (que no s’estan aprofitant) mentre els vehicles estan aparcats., [ANGLÈS] The technological revolution in the last decades in undeniable, and it has supposed a big change in the society. Technology is part of our day to day life and every time we have more devices (and more variety) connected to the large Internet network. Some of the examples that we can found are sensors, smart wearables, smartphones, even refrigerators and washing machines that make the resources and traffic generated on the network be of immense supply. For this reason we find the concepts of IoT (Internet of Things) and Big Data. Experts estimate that in 2015 there will be more than 75 billion devices connected to the Internet [0]. For the same reason, the concept of F2C (Fog to Cloud) was born. This concept proposes to bring closer the traditional cloud layer to the data generated by devices, in order to reduce the traffic that is sent to the cloud and this brings us numerous benefits, as for example offering real time services. On the other hand, cities are in a continuous growing and they need services that simplify the citizens life and the whole city, starting from technology as it could not be otherwise. If we put together the above paragraphs, we find the concept of Smart city. It's a really recent concept that is being developed around the world and we can already find smart cities that count with services to improve the public services and other aspects of the city. This project proposes implementation techniques of F2C and different services related to smart parking, with the aim of offering the cities a more simple and efficient way to park. It also proposes a model that uses the capacity of processing from the vehicles parked in a parking area in order to execute services or programs in a distributed way, taking advantage of resources (which are not being used) while the vehicles are parked.
