In the present work, the fungal population present in the environment and on surfaces of equipment and facilities was determined and quantified in two stone fruit packinghouses during 2012 and 2013. The fungi present in the environment were sampled according to the gravimetric method. The fungi present on the surfaces of floors, walls, containers and lines were sampled with Rodac plates. Dirty zones (reception of fruits and first selection) were more contaminated than clean zones (washing of fruits, lines and containers), even though in the shipping room the presence of different fungi was high. The most prevalent genera recovered in both packinghouses and in all zones were Penicillium spp. followed by Cladosporium spp. The presence of Rhizopus spp. was also highly detected in all zones, which could result in new postharvest infections. Moreover, Monilinia spp., the most important postharvest disease on stone fruit, was rarely detected, indicating the low risk of fruit infection in packinghouses.

Background: Neuroimaging is essential for the diagnosis and prognosis of transient ischemic attack (TIA). The discovery of a plasmatic biomarker related to neuroimaging findings is of enormous interest because, despite its relevance, magnetic resonance diffusionweighted imaging (DWI) is not always available in all hospitals that attend to TIA patients. Methods: Metabolomic analyses were performed by liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry in order to establish the metabolomic patterns of positive DWI, DWI patterns and acute ischemic lesion volumes. We used these methods with an initial TIA cohort of 129 patients and validated them with a 2nd independent cohort of 152 patients. Findings: PositiveDWIwas observed in 115 (40.9%) subjects and scattered pearls in one arterial territory was the most frequent lesion pattern (35.7%). The median acute ischemic lesion volume was 0.33 (0.15–1.90) cm3. We detected a specific metabolomic profile common to both cohorts for positive DWI (11 molecules including creatinine, threoninyl-threonine, N-acetyl-glucosamine, lyso phosphatidic acid and cholesterol-related molecules) and ischemic lesion volume (10 molecules including lysophosphatidylcholine, hypoxanthine/threonate, and leucines). Moreover lysophospholipids and creatinine clearly differed the subcortical DWI pattern from other patterns. Interpretation: There are specific metabolomic profiles associated with representative neuroimaging features in TIA patients. Our findings could allow the development of serum biomarkers related to acute ischemic lesions and specific acute ischemic patterns.

Sequence Mixed Graphs

A mixed graph can be seen as a type of digraph containing some edges (or two opposite arcs). Here we introduce the concept of sequence mixed graphs, which is a generalization of both sequence graphs and iterated line digraphs. These structures are proven to be useful in the problem of constructing dense graphs or digraphs, and this is related to the degree/diameter problem. Thus, our generalized approach gives rise to graphs that have also good ratio order/diameter. Moreover, we propose a general method for obtaining a sequence mixed digraph by identifying some vertices of a certain iterated line digraph. As a consequence, some results about distance-related parameters (mainly, the diameter and the average distance) of sequence mixed graphs are presented.

Amb això hem pogut constatar que tot i les actuacions de memòria realitzades hi segueix havent una àmplia presència de simbologia franquista a la ciutat, segurament, degut a l’èxit que han tingut aquests elements en el compliment dels seus objectius., The main objective of this paper has been to analyze the presence of symbolic elements in the public areas in the city of Lleida, analyzing their evolution since the political transition and especially since the publication of the Census of the Francoist Symbols in the Memorial Democràtic of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Thus, we have seen that even the memorial actions undertaken, there is still a large presence of Francoist Symbology in the city, maybe partially due to the success of these elements in the fulfillment of its objectives.

Biofortification is an effective and economical method to improve the micronutrient content of crops, particularly staples that sustain human populations in developing countries. Whereas conventional fortification requires artificial additives, biofortification involves the synthesis or accumulation of nutrients by plants at source. Little is known about the relative merits of biofortification and artificial fortification in terms of nutrient bioaccessibility and bioavailability, and much depends on the biochemical nature of the nutrient, which can promote or delay uptake, and determine how efficiently different nutrients are transported through the blood, stored, and utilized. Data from the first plants biofortified with minerals and vitamins provide evidence that the way in which nutrients are presented can affect how they are processed and utilized in the human body. The latest studies on the effects of the food matrix, processing and storage on nutrient transfer from biofortified crops are reviewed, as well as current knowledge about nutrient absorption and utilization.

Els primers balls públics de la Tàrrega vuitcentista. Les bases de la municipalització de la festa

  • Capdevila i Capdevila, Joaquim
