[EN] Microplastics and nanoplastics have arisen as contaminants of emerging concern due to the wide use of plastics, and the application of boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes for their removal is promising. In this study, we report the influence of BDD doping levels (500, 2500, and 10000 ppm B doping) on the electrooxidation of polystyrene nanoplastics (100 nm, 20 mg⋅L-1). Different current densities (50, 25, 12.5, and 5 mA⋅cm-2) have been applied to determine the best electrolysis conditions for each electrode type. In addition, hydroxyl radical (•OH), persulphate (S2O82-), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) reactive species have been determined to understand the influence of the species generated on the degradation of NPs. BDD500 electrode presents the fastest degradation of PS NPs at low current densities (12.5 and 5 mA⋅cm-2), BDD2500 at 25 mA⋅cm-2, and BDD10000 at 50 mA⋅cm-2. Among oxidative species determined, S2O82- is the one generated with the highest concentration and seems to command the degradation of PS NPs, since at 25, 12.5, and 5 mA⋅cm-2, the electrodes that produce more S2O82- degrade faster PS NPs. At 50 mA⋅cm-2, the differences between the different electrodes were minimal. The highest mineralization (as measured by non-purgeable organic carbon measurements) was obtained for BDD500 at 50, 25, and 12.5 mA⋅cm-2, and BDD2500 at 5 mA⋅cm-2., This research is part of the Spanish R +D +i contract TED2021-130905B-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and by the European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR as well as the Red E3Tech Plus: Proyecto Redes de Investigación de la AEI Network E3Tech PLUS (RED2022-134552-T) project. PROTEIN-FUNCTIONALIZED MICROGEL FOR MULTIPLE MYELOMA CELLS’ 3D CULTURE

Multiple myeloma is a hematologic neoplasm caused by an uncontrolled clonal proliferation
of neoplastic plasma cells (nPCs) in the bone marrow. The development and survival of this disease is
tightly related to the bone marrow environment. Proliferation and viability of nPCs depend on their
interaction with the stromal cells and the extracellular matrix components, which also influences the
appearance of drug resistance. Recapitulating these interactions in an in vitro culture requires 3D
environments that incorporate the biomolecules of interest. In this work, we studied the proliferation
and viability of three multiple myeloma cell lines in a microgel consisting of biostable microspheres
with fibronectin (FN) on their surfaces. We also showed that the interaction of the RPMI8226 cell line
with FN induced cell arrest in the G0/G1 cell cycle phase. RPMI8226 cells developed a significant
resistance to dexamethasone, which was reduced when they were treated with dexamethasone and
bortezomib in combination., CIBER-BBN is an initiative funded by the VI National R&D&I Plan 2008–2011,
Iniciativa Ingenio 2010, and Consolider Program. CIBER Actions were financed by the Instituto
de Salud Carlos III, with assistance from the European Regional Development Fund. The kind

REAL-WORLD DATASETS FOR SUSTAINABLE PORTFOLIO SELECTION
- García Bernabeu, Ana María
The numerical information in these datasets consists of two files. The first file (Dataset_SRI.xlsx) contains the asset data of monthly returns and ESG risk scores for three fund managers from January 2011 to December 2019. The second file (Pareto_Fronts.xlsx) contains the mean-variance-ESG Pareto fronts and the Pareto sets of non-dominated solutions for each manager obtained using the ev-MOGA algorithm. To get these Pareto fronts, we have considered an in-sample period of 72 monthly returns over six years from January 2011 to December 2016. To implement the ev-MOGA algorithm, we use an initial population of 50000 individuals and an auxiliary population of 500. The number of boxes defining the space of each function is 100.

The dataset contains the data that have been used to synthesize and characterize different types of nanostructures (WO3, WO3-Mo, TiO2, and TiO2-ZnO) for a comparison of hybrid and pure nanostructures to use them as a photoanodes for photoelectrocatalytic degradation of emerging contaminants. A structural and compositional characterization was performed using Raman confocal laser spectroscopy and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Photoelectrochemical characterization of nanostructures was performed by Photoelectrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (PEIS), Mott-Schottky (M-S), and Water Splitting (WS) tests. Finally, the photoelectrocatalytic degradation of the pesticide Imazalil was carried out with the best optimized nanostructure (TiO2-ZnO).

MEASURING QUALITY OF LIFE IN EUROPE: A NEW MULTICRITERIA APPROACH
MEASURING QUALITY OF LIFE IN EUROPE: A NEW MULTICRITERIA APPROACH
- García Bernabeu, Ana María
Quality of life indicators include measures of both objective and subjective well-being to broaden the traditional income-focused view towards a multidimensional view of welfare. In this paper, we develop a single reliable composite index that considers the effect of uncertainty and imprecision related to the specific nature of the phenomenon being measured. Additionally, we suggest a procedure for incorporating this new way of assigning priorities through multicriteria techniques. To this end, we propose a new multicriteria approach that introduces the recent notion of picture fuzzy sets to deal with uncertainty and imprecision in the assessment of objective and subjective dimensions of quality-of-life performance. To verify the effectiveness of the whole approach and the credibility of the results, we show its application for monitoring the quality of life in the European Union. Our results show that fuzzy numbers can be a useful tool when combined with multicriteria techniques in the prioritization phase of the criteria and that they increase the quality and reliability of the overall aggregate indicator. Moreover, we find that in a picture environment, the results are consistent regardless of the multicriteria approach used to provide a final ranking.
