Chesas_Thin_sections_scans.zip
Chesas_Fig.captions1991-01.xlsx, We show data of soils developed on the outcropping gypseous nucleus of the Barbastro-Balaguer anticline, NE Spain. Chesas is the local name for the lands of this outcrop that stand out by their whitish tones. The data collected here come from soils of the municipalities —from West to East— of Peraltilla, Almunia de San Juan, Tamarite, Torá, and Iborra. The analytical methods plus details of the landscape and sampling sites can be found in: (i) the book entitled “Morfología y génesis de suelos sobre yesos” (http://hdl.handle.net/10261/84695), and (ii) the article entitled “Salada Farrachuela, a saline wetland in Tamarite de Litera, Spain” (DOI: 10.29077/bol.114.ce05.herrero).
Here we present a compressed zip file with 302 TIFF images corresponding to 151 thin sections of these soils. Most of the sections —with the prevalent size of 13.5 × 5.7 cm— were manufactured by the first author in the Institut National Agronomique de Paris-Grignon under the technical supervision of Mr. P. Guilloré, in the context of a scholarship granted by the Government of France for working in the lab of Dr. N. Fédoroff. The surviving thin sections from chesas are archived and scanned at the EEAD-CSIC in Zaragoza, Spain. Their scans are compiled in the file “Chesas_Thin_sections_scans.zip”.
Several dozen micrographs of the chesas thin sections appeared in the abovementioned book published in 1991 (http://hdl.handle.net/10261/84695). The file “Chesas_Fig.captions1991-01.xlsx” presents a tentative English translation of the 154 Figure captions for the micrographs and the other figures in the book., We acknowledge the grant PID2021-127170OB-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by “ERDF A way of making Europe”, and the grant TED2021-130303B-I00 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and by the “European Union NextGeneration EU/PRTR”., Peer reviewed

PROPOSED MODEL FOR HOW TORC1 MIGHT REGULATE CBK1 ACTIVITY IN CDC15-2 CELLS

(A) Our findings suggest that TORC1 blocks Cbk1 kinase activity in the absence of Cdc15 function while cells are arrested in late anaphase at 37 °C, which would promote a defect in the following cell separation as secretory vesicle transporting hydrolases would be unable to fuse into the plasma membrane. (B) Rapamycin inhibits TORC1 and would induce the accumulation of a hypophosphorylated version of Cbk1 that would be able to phosphorylate its key substrates as the exocyct component Sec3, which regulates the function of the SNARE complex at the site of division to promote fusion of secretory vesicle at the plasma membrane. Hydrolases contained in secretory vesicle are released to promote cell separation., Peer reviewed

QUANTIFIED IMAGES PLUS VIDEOS OF IRON AND MANGANESE REDUCTION OF IRIS FILMS IN HYPERSALINE SOILS [DATASET]
- Castañeda del Álamo, Carmen
- Herrero Isern, Juan
- Latorre Garcés, Borja
This dataset comprises 20 folders corresponding to the 10 iron plus 10 manganese IRIS film samplings in Salineta playa-lake. Each IRIS sampling includes also a video obtained with the clear IRIS tubes installed close to the IRIS films. We followed the method and camera instrument described in Scott et al. (2021) (DOI: 10.1002/saj2.20171). The videos of the soil allowed the direct monitoring of the oxide-paint removal and guided the successive sampling of the IRIS films. Each sampling included the video-image monitoring of the clear-IRIS tubes and the retrieval of three replicates of Fe and Mn IRIS films. Each folder contains the field photographs of the three iron or manganese films sampled. The photographs were processed: after cropping to the area of interest, they were binarized and the reduced (white) area of the film was then quantified. The numbering of the folders follows the order of sampling, from 1 to 10, and folders are labeled with F for iron and with M for manganese films.
The Excel worksheet included in the present dataset contains the quantification data of the oxide-coating removed from iron and manganese films, together with the quantification of the black sulfides deposited on the iron films. The film area under reducing conditions (white PVC film) is expressed in percentage of the total film area. This percentage of paint removed has been calculated: 1) for every cm of the film depth (50 cm), 2) in the upper 0-30 cm of the film, and 3) in the total length of the film (0-50 cm). The removal rate indicates the reducing conditions evolution and intensity in the studied soils of the saline wetland., The data corresponds to the Spanish study area, the Salineta inland saline wetland (41°28'55.34"N, 0° 9'23.59"W) located 60 km far from Zaragoza city, in one of the most arid areas of the Central Ebro Basin, NE Spain. In this project we studied the redox conditions of the hypersaline soils in Salineta playa-lake, which are subjected to intermittent flooding, along a period of 17 months, in 2019 and 2020. The data were obtained during the monitoring of the soil redox conditions using IRIS (Indicators of Reduction in Soils) films and clear IRIS tubes coated with iron oxide and manganese oxide and supplied by the Prof. Martin Rabenhorst and Dr. Brian Scott, from the University of Maryland, USA. The monitoring of the IRIS films consisted on the quantification of the oxide-coating removed from the films. The oxide-coating of the films was reduced and then dissolved due to the microbial action. Firstly, the manganese-oxide coated films and later the iron-oxide coated films lost gradually their cover paint until showing the white underlying PVC film without paint., These data belong to the research project (AQUASALT), EraNET that in Spain has been supported by grant PCI2018-09299 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/50110 0 011033 and co-funded by the European Union., Peer reviewed

SOIL SALINITY IN 1975 IN AN IRRIGATED DISTRICT WATERED BY THE 2ND AND 3RD SECTIONS OF THE FIRST PART OF MONEGROS CANAL (HUESCA, SPAIN) [DATASET]
- Herrero Isern, Juan
We have organized the data in three files:
• File "Augerings 1975 Monegros.docx", a list of the 519 soil samples taken by hand-auger in 1975 at 183 sites. The list shows the refernce of the sampling site, the depth of each sample, the electrical conductivity at 1:5 dilution, and the pH at 1:1 dilution;
• File "Coordinates 1975 Monegros.docx", the UTM coordinates of the sampling sites; and
• File "Marked contacts CETFA Monegros1972 and diagram.zip”, the scannings in pdf format of the 176 contacts aerial photographs from a flight of 1972 that have marks of the surveyors for the localization of the sampling sites. This zip file also contains the flight diagram in pdf format., Salinity is a time-variable characteristic trait of the soils, as is well known in the irrigated lands. Tracking the variation of soil salinity along time is a way to evaluate the effects of irrigation in agricultural lands or in their surroundings. Such evaluations can enable warning and even implementing corrective actions if salinity underwent undesirable evolution.
The data presented here come from a heritage report commissioned by IRYDA, the organism in charge of new irrigation projets within the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture., The time elapsed and the changes in the irrigation techniques in the district, where now is becoming majoritarian the pressurized application of water, reinforce the interest of this dataset for multitemporal evaluations with agronomical or environmental purposes., Peer reviewed
