[Description of methods used for collection/generation of data] For Morphospecies_abundance.csv: Aerial sampling, Berlese sampling, cafeteria experiments, vacuuming sampling, shake sampling.
For zOTU_Abundance.csv: DNA extraction was carried out with 0.05-0.1 grams of root material using a Mobio PowerSoil DNA Isolation Kit (Mobio Laboratories). PCR and sequencing of the 16 rRNA gene was done with Illumina MiSeq (NGS) following the methods from the central genomic services of RTSF-MSU (Michigan State University, USA) (https://rtsf.natsci.msu.edu/). We analyzed the V4 variable region of the 16S rRNA gene (250 nucleotides) using primers F515 (5'-GTGCCAGCMGCCGCGGTAA-3') and R806 (5'-GGACTACHVGGGTWTCTAAT-3'). Raw rRNA gene sequences were processed using the UPARSE pipeline (Edgar, 2013) to identify zOTUS (zero-radius operational taxonomic units). Taxonomic assignment used the naive Bayes scikit-learn classifier implemented in QIIME2 (Caporaso et al., 2010) and the SILVA 132 database (Quast et al., 2012). Chloroplast, mitochondrial, and unclassified sequences were excluded from further analyses.
For PERDIVER_Alpha_diversity.csv: Multiple diversity metrics using R. For each community associated with each plant species: Species richnes, Shannon and Simpson diversity indices and standard effect size of the phylogenetic mean pairwise distance between species in the community (mpd.obs.z). Above ground phylogenetic distances come from Chesters, D. (2020), The phylogeny of insects in the data-driven era. Syst Entomol, 45: 540-551. Belowground distances from QIIME2 (Caporaso, J., Kuczynski, J., Stombaugh, J. et al. QIIME allows analysis of high-throughput community sequencing data. Nat Methods 7, 335–336 (2010).) and the SILVA 128 reference database (Quast, C., Pruesse, E., Yilmaz, P., Gerken, J., Schweer, T., Yarza, P., Peplies, J., & Glöckner, F. O. (2012). The SILVA ribosomal RNA gene database project: Improved data processing and web-based tools. Nucleic Acids Research, 41(D1), D590–D596.).
2016, 2017 and 2018 during flowering season of host plants., Data from the PERDIVER and INTERACTOMA projects. The goal of the projects was to characterize the communities of species that interact with seven rare or endangered plants in Aragón and if those communities changed between isolated and non-isolated plant populations. The aboveground was surveyed in 2016, 2017, and 2018 during the flowering season of the host plant. All individual animals, visiting any part of flowering and non-flowering plants over an area covered visually by the observer were either visually identified or sampled, if needed to confirm identification. All animals trapped by the sticky leaves of pinlon were also identified. Sampling area and length of surveys varied among plant species, depending on size of plants and frequency of interactions, but ≥ 20 surveys were performed at each site, resulting in a total of > 9,000 minutes and 638 surveys. Sampling investment varied among plant species, because they differed in interaction detectability. However, sampling effort was always similar among patches of the same plant species. Other methods like Berlese funnnel traps, fruit sampling or cafeteria experiments were used to unveil interactions that are not easily visible, like those by small or camouflaged animals.
Below ground microbial communities were characterized for each plant population with three samples composed of root material from different individuals., PERDIVER Project (Fundación BBVA). Este dataset está sujeto a una licencia CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, [EN] Legati is a collaborative dataset recording every diplomatic mission (in a broad sense) exchanged between Spanish and Muslim authorities during the Early Modern Age (1492-1708). Actors, places, involved authorities and results are identified. As these contacts are peculiar to the requirements of classical diplomacy, special attention is paid to the criteria for the choice of actors, the accreditations they carried, the ceremonial or confessional problems they faced, and the issues of material and immaterial culture that emerged. MODELING WEAKLY SCATTERING RANDOM MEDIA: A TOOL TO RESOLVE THE INTERNAL STRUCTURE OF NANOPOROUS MATERIALS
- Jiménez-Solano, Alberto
- Miranda-Muñoz, José M.
- Carretero-Palacios, Sol
- Míguez, Hernán
Nanoporous media scatter a small fraction of the light propagating through them, even if pore sizes are significantly smaller than the characteristic visible wave-lengths. The disordered spatial modulation of the refractive index at the few or few tens of nanometers length scale, resulting from the presence of randomly distributed air bubbles or solid aggregates within a continuous solid background, gives rise to these weak scattering effects. However, standard theoretical approaches to describe this kind of media use effective medium approximations that do not account for diffuse, ballistic, and specular components. Herein, all spectral components and the angular distribution of the scattered light are captured through optical modeling. A Monte Carlo approach, combining scattering Mie theory and Fresnel equations, implemented within a genetic algorithm, allows us to decode the void and aggregate size distribution and hence the internal structure of a nanocrystalline titania (TiO2) film chosen as a paradigmatic example. The approach allows to generically describe the scattering properties of nanoporous materials which, as shown herein, may be used to decipher their internal structure from the fitting of their far-optical field properties., grant PID2020-116593RB-I00 by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and P18-RT-2291 (FEDER/UE)., Peer reviewed

The study was carried out in two parts, the first concerned the characterisation of the objects in the MUNCYT collection. The different metals were characterised with XFR and their original coatings with FTIR. These data can be found in the folder "Characterisation of MUNCYT objects". The second part is about the application and evaluation of the 8 coatings described in the abstract on bare steel and brass coupons. These coatings were exposed to accelerated ageing (condensation and UVA radiation) for a total of 336 hours, with an interruption in the middle of the test. The performance of the coatings was therefore monitored at time 0, time 168 hours and 336 hours. The data of this part can be consulted in the folder "Coatings evaluation", where the subfolders corresponding to each analysis technique used during the different ageing times can be found.

This data presents results on the protective properties of different coatings over metals -bare brass and steel- representative of those found in scientific-technical heritage collections. After a previous examination of several objects to characterise the metals and alloys in the collection of the Spanish National Museum of Science and Technology (MUNCYT), an evaluation of protective coatings has been done. Specifically, Paraloid B-44, B-48, B-67, B-72, Incralac, Cosmolloid H80, double layer of B-72+H80 and shellac have been studied to make a first screening in order to select the most promising candidates for each case and determine the most appropriate methodology and key factors for the study. Coatings have been applied on clean metal surfaces and aged up to 336 hours, by cycles of UV light and water condensation at elevated temperatures. Changes in the aspect of the coupons has been assessed by visual examination, optical microscopy and colorimetric measurements. EIS has been used for a quantitative evaluation of the protective properties and FTIR to measure chemical changes of the layers, allowing to follow, understand and compare the behaviour of the different coatings and substrates upon artificial ageing., [ES] Este es el conjunto de datos experimentales utilizado en el artículo: Recubrimientos protectores sobre metales encontrados en colecciones científico-técnicas: la colección del Museo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología de España (MUNCYT). This work has been funded by MCIN/AEI /10.13039/501100011033 and “ERDF A way of making Europe”, under the project COMPACT (HAR2017-89911-R) and the predoctoral grant PRE2018-086667 additionally funded by “ESF Investing in your future”. [Description of methods used for collection/generation of data] This map has been elaborated based on a compilation of different tectonic features described by other authors in scientific publications, books and PhD theses developed in different sectors of the continental margins of Iberia. The tectonic feature mapping derived from this compilation has been implemented in a Geographic Information System (GIS). In some cases, the structures shown have been redrawn or directly interpreted from the available geophysical information (bathymetry, seismic profiles, and potential fields)., [EN] The tectonic features included in this dataset were compiled for a tectonic map at scale 1:1,750,000. This work shows an update of the existing knowledge of the main tectonic and volcanic structures along the Iberian continental margins and abyssal plains. The morphotectonic trends around Iberia recorded superposed geodynamic processes linked to the opening of the North Atlantic Ocean since the Mesozoic and the evolution of the Mediterranean Sea during the Cenozoic, as well as the reactivation of Hercynian faults and the formation of new tectonic structures during the Alpine orogeny. The delineation of the different tectonic features included in the dataset is based on the interpretation of the digital bathymetric model and other geophysical data from our own studies, and those from other authors. Accompanying the dataset, a PDF document with the bibliographical references used is also included., This work was supported by the C.N.
