The following data measured during the viral inactivation experiments performed on spiked clams are recorded: temperature during inactivation, % recovery of hepatitis A virus, Norovirus GI and Norovirus GII viruses, as well as % recovery of mengovirus used as a process control virus. Data for HAV were obtained both by TCID50 assay and RTqPCR. Data for other viruses were obtained by RTqPCR following ISO 15216-1 (2017) protocol with some modifications

This database contains data from saliva samples from children who have participated in the study "Replication Antibody Conversion rates to SARS-CoV-2 in Saliva from Children Attending Summer Schools in Barcelona, Spain". Data come from 1,509 children and 396 adults by high-throughput Luminex assays in samples collected weekly in 22 Summer schools and 2 pre-schools in 27 venues in Barcelona, Spain, from June 29th to July 31st 2020. Saliva samples were collected for each participant on two visits 5 weeks apart. IgM, IgA and IgG values have been obtained from each sample to detect SARS-CoV-2

PHORID FLIES IN MUSHROOM GROWING FARMS

Dipteran species are some of the most serious arthropod pest affecting mushroom crops. The phorid fly Megaselia halterata Wood (Diptera: Phoridea) has traditionally been considered a minor pest throughout the world, althoguh they have repeatedly been a very important pest in Spanish mushroom farms. This datasheet summarizes the information regarding mushroom phorid populations in mushroom farms from Castilla-La Mancha (Spain). Over a period of 18 months (six seasons), 18 mushroom crop cycles (three cycles per season) were monitored. There are two data files: “Adult_phorids_CIES_IRTA” and “Immature_phorids_CIES_IRTA”. “Adult_phorids_CIES_IRTA” file comprises data regarding adult phorids caught through the total growing period by means yellow sticky traps, weekly renewed, located in three points of the mushroom facilities: near the front door, in the middle of the farm, and in the back area, near the ventilation hole (“location” in the datasheet). Data value corresponding to number of phorid adults per day, per each location, per each mushroom growing stage, and per each of the studied seasons. “Immature_phorids_CIES_IRTA” file comprise data of phorid immature stages inside of the growing substrate samples. The survey of compost and casing materials was carried out, per duplicate, at different mushroom growing stages, and in the same locations previously explained. Data value corresponding to number of phorid immature stages per each replication of the sample, per each mushroom growing substrate, per each location, per each growing stage, and per each of the studied seasons

DATA ON PARTICLE PROPERTIES, NUMERICAL AND MASS CONCENTRATIONS AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION COLLECTED DURING THE SURFING FOR SCIENCE PROJECT

From October 2020 to June 2021 the Surfing for Science project engaged volunteers to collect scientific samples on floating microplastics in nearshore waters of the NW Mediterranean Sea. The data presented here includes all data on particle counts, sizes, shapes, colors and chemical composition of the plastics found, including concentrations for each of the investigated locations. A subset of 285 particles were chemically identified to confirm the chemical identity of the particles found. Almost 25,000 plastics were identified and characterized and were mostly microplastics (< 5 mm in length). The results provide important support for trappping of microplastics in the nearshore, which is subject to seasonal variability associated to natural and anthopogenic forcing. The data presented here can be further integrated with other studies (e.g. modelling) to understand the sources, pathways and sinks of microplastics in the global ocean.

META-ANALYSIS ON THE EFFECTS OF HIGH-INTENSITY TRAINING AND A HIGH-PROTEIN DIET ON BODY COMPOSITION, MUSCLE METABOLISM AND MUSCLE STRENGTH IN OVERWEIGHT ADULTS

The increase in high-intensity training (HIT) guidelines and the use of hyperproteic diets (HPDs) as a treatment of excess weight in adults have generated interest in their effects on body composition, metabolic profile and muscular strength. So, the objective of this study was to determine the effects of HIT together with an HPD on the body composition, muscle metabolism and muscle strength of overweight or obese subjects. According to that, a standardized search of randomized controlled trials was carried out considering: 1) application of a HIT protocol, 2) compliance with an HPD and 3) their combined application in non-active overweight or obese subjects. Screening was then carried out by two independent researchers, following the criteria in the Cochrane handbook for systematic reviews of interventions. Data was extracted from the 8 studies selected which were systematically reviewed, and subsequent meta-analysis was performed. A statistically significant decrease in body fat (6 studies which included n=294 subjects; MD -0.56 kg; 95% CI -0.90 to -0.22 kg; p=0.001; I2 =18%; Χ2=6.08; p=0.30) and an increase in lean body mass (7 studies which included n=370 subjects; MD 0.37 kg; 95% CI 0.02 to 0.72 kg; p=0.04; I2 =55%; Χ2=13.42; p=0.04) were detected. Sensitivity analysis confirmed the significance of these results. No statistically significant changes were observed in any of the other variables studied. Despite the statistically significant decrease in body fat and increase in lean body mass, not statistically or clinically significant improvements were observed in the other variables, not even in those where favorable changes had been reported in previous studies. For obtaining more conclusive results in future meta-analysis, it will be necessary to carry out new studies with less variable and better-defined HIT and HPD protocols in order to increase comparability. These studies should control subjects’ diet conveniently, especially protein and energy intake.

ANTIOXIDANT AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF GINSENG EXTRACT (GE), FERULIC ACID (FA) AND FERMENTED NONI JUICE POWDER (FNJP)

Ginseng extract (GE), ferulic acid (≥ 99%) (FA), and a fermented noni juice powder (FNJP), were investigated for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activities in vitro. For antioxidant analysis, the capacity of the three extracts (GE, FA and FNJP) to inhibit polyphenol oxidase from three vegetable matrices (potato, apple or mushroom) and the peroxidation prevention of three types fats (sunflower oil, olive oil and butter) were studied (AGRIMAX_IA_EXTRACTS_AOX_PPO_IRTA_05112021; AGRIMAX_IA_EXTRACTS_AOX_PEROX_IRTA_05112021). The extracts’ antimicrobial activity was studied on thirteen bacterial strains using the disk diffusion assay and the microdilution assay (AGRIMAX_IA_GE_AM_IRTA_05112021; AGRIMAX_IA_FA_AM_IRTA_05112021; AGRIMAX_IA_FNJP_AM_IRTA_05112021; AGRIMAX_IA_EXTRACTS_AM_MIC_IRTA_05112021.). The results obtained suggest the potential of GE, FA and FNJP for its further application in food industries. The data were obtained in the microbiology laboratory of IRTA Fruitcentre (Lleida, Catalonia). These data are the result of the average of 3 replicates (± standard deviation, sd) where the antioxidant and antimicrobial effect of ginseng extract (GE), ferulic acid (FA) and FNJP are studied. The results of this research are part of the AGRIMAX H2020 project.

Data collected within the framework of the ERC project "The sound of special places: exploring rock art soundscapes and the sacred" (acronym: Artsoundscapes, PI ICREA Research Professor Margarita Díaz-Andreu). The project focuses on the relationship between archaeoacoustics and rock art. The audio files are the impulse responses (IR) gathered in the Lower Chuya Valley area, in particular at the rock art sites of Kalbak-Tash I, Kalbak-Tash II and Adyr-Kan, Altai (Siberia). The tables include the acoustic data derived from those impulse responses.

DATA OF A STUDY OF SEX PHEROMONE DETECTION BY FEMALES OF THE ORIENTAL FRUIT MOTH, GRAPHOLITA MOLESTA

The study explores if female Grapholita molesta moths can detect its own sex pheromone. The approach involves electroantennography (EAG), single -sensillum recordings (SSR), analyzed with non-linear dose-response and hierarchical cluster analysis. The excel file contains the data, the word file contains the R code. The data are from 3 different experiments. Experiment 1 is the electroantennographic (EAG) response of male and female Grapholita molesta adults to the female sex pheromone components, Z8-12:Ac and E8-12:Ac. Experiment 2 are single-sensillum recordings (SSR) of Z- and E-ORNs from males to the major and minor sex pheromone compounds of females. The EAG and SSR were analyzed with non-linear dose-response curves. In experiment 3, male and female ORNs were challenged with two doses of the major and minor female sex pheromone compounds, a plant volatile blend and the male-produced hairpencil courtship pheromone. The results of experiment 3 were analyzed with hierarchical cluster analysis. The R code is for descriptive statistics (means, and such), predictive statistics (GLMs and such) and graphs and in addition to the code there are indications for teh different steps, plus selected output . Data for submission of research manuscript.
