- Moreno Iglesias, Diego
- Álvarez Morales, Lidia
- Santos da Rosa, Neemias
- Díaz-Andreu, Margarita
Data collected in the framework of the ERC project "The sound of special places: exploring rock art soundscapes and the sacred" (acronym: Artsoundscapes, Grant Agreement No. 787842). The project focuses on the relationship between archaeoacoustics and rock art. The attached files correspond to 1) the audio files of the impulse responses collected at the rock art sites of Sandra shelter (Kamberg, South Africa), and Bamboo Hollow III and Wilcox shelter (Giant’s Castle, South Africa), all of them in the Drakensberg mountain range, 2) the corresponding ambient sounds registered on each of the three sites, 3) the resulting audio tracks when the ambient sound is reproduced in the immersive audio laboratory of the Faculty of Psychology, and 4) a Matlab script for the extraction of the psycoacoustical parameters presented on the publication.

REPLICATION DATA FOR PUBLICATION IZADI, P., KAS, A., HAUS, P. AND HARNISCH, F., ON THE STABILITY OF ELECTROCHEMICAL CO2 REDUCTION REACTION TO FORMATE AT INDIUM ELECTRODES AT BIOCOMPATIBLE CONDITIONS
- Izadi, Paniz

- Haus, Philip
This study investigated the potential parameters limiting the stable eCO2RR to formate using In catalyst over 72 h operation. We showed that in order to achieve a stable and efficient eCO2RR, the interrelation between few operational parameters needs to be taken into consideration. In the case studied here being exemplarily for interfacing eCO2RR and bioproduction, a Formate concentration increase in the catholyte and change in conductivity of the catholyte may not directly influence the formate production rate and coulombic efficiency. Yet, they affect the actual cathodic potentials, leading to fluctuations in formate production rate (maximum ± 0.03 mmol h−1 cm−2 at stable operation at each condition) and coulombic efficiency (max. ± 40% at stable operation at each condition) after reaching the certain value of formate concentration and conductivity in the catholyte (ca. 70 mM and 21 mS cm−1, respectively). Therefore, the concentration should be kept below such a value which can be easily achieved by process steering allowing balancing the rates of eCO2RR and microbial consumption. In addition, the stability of the In catalyst needs to be improved in order to operate long-term stable eCO2RR. Confirmed by the increase observed in In corrosion rate at more negative potentials and change in the pH values, H2 generation at the surface could lead to the damage at the surface of the electrode coated by the electrocatalyst. Therefore, the durability of the electrode can be closely related to the electrode potential. One can consider less negative potentials to decrease the catalyst leaching but to increase the HER. However, that would consequently decrease formate production rate from eCO2RR. Alternatively, more C1-compound selective electrodes can be explored and used.

Plasmodium vivax malaria is a neglected disease, particularly during pregnancy. Severe vivax malaria is associated with inflammatory responses but in pregnancy immune alterations make it uncertain as to what cytokine signatures predominate, and how the type and quantity of blood immune mediators influence delivery outcomes. We measured the plasma concentrations of a set of thirty-one biomarkers, comprising cytokines, chemokines and growth factors, in 987 plasma samples from a cohort of 572 pregnant women from five malaria-endemic tropical countries and related these concentrations to delivery outcomes (birth weight and hemoglobin levels) and malaria infection. Samples were collected at recruitment (first antenatal visit) and delivery (periphery, cord and placenta), allowing a longitudinal analysis. At recruitment, we found that P. vivax–infected pregnant women had higher plasma concentrations of proinflammatory (IL-6, IL-1β, CCL4, CCL2, CXCL10) and TH1-related cytokines (mainly IL-12) than uninfected women. This biomarker signature was essentially lost at delivery and was not associated with birth weight nor hemoglobin levels. Antiinflammatory cytokines (IL-10) were positively associated with infection and poor delivery outcomes. CCL11 was the only biomarker to show a negative association with P. vivax infection and its concentration at recruitment was positively associated with hemoglobin levels at delivery. Birth weight was negatively associated with peripheral IL-4 levels at delivery. Our multi-biomarker multicenter study is the first comprehensive one to characterize the immunological signature of P. vivax infection in pregnancy thus far. In conclusion, data show that while TH1 and pro-inflammatory responses are dominant during P. vivax infection in pregnancy, antiinflammatory cytokines may compensate excessive inflammation avoiding poor delivery outcomes, and skewness toward a TH2 response may trigger worse delivery outcomes. CCL11, a chemokine largely neglected in the field of malaria, emerges as an important marker of exposure or mediator in this condition.

This dataset contains the information on our recent body of work on the effect of the deposition of ZnO coating on degradation rate of FeMn porous alloys. Fe-based alloys are being studied as potential candidates for biodegradable implants; however, their degradation rates remain too slow. To accelerate biodegradation while simultaneously hindering biofilm formation, a ZnO coating was deposited onto porous equiatomic FeMn alloy discs by sol-gel method using dip coating. The effect of the ZnO coating on the microstructure, biodegradability, cytocompatibility, and antibacterial properties were investigated. Biodegradability experiments were performed by immersing the specimens in Hank's balanced salt solution and measuring ion release after up to 28 days of immersion. The experiments showed an increased degradation of the FeMn/ZnO sample due to Fe segregation towards the grain boundaries, formation of iron-manganese oxide, and limited formation of degradation products on ZnO. Further, indirect Saos-2 cell cytotoxicity testing in 24 h sample-conditioned media showed no significant cytotoxicity in concentrations equal to or below 50 %. In addition, the total biofilm biovolume formed by Staphylococcus aureus on the FeMn/ZnO surface was significantly reduced compared to the uncoated FeMn. Taken together, these results show that the ZnO coating on FeMn improves the degradation rate, maintains cytocompatibility, and reduces biofilm accumulation when compared to an uncoated FeMn alloy.

This file contains the data used in the manuscript "Indigenous Peoples and local communities report ongoing and widespread climate change impacts on local social-ecological systems", by V. Reyes-García et al. Under review in Communications Earth & Environment. Data were collected using a place-specific but cross-culturally comparable research protocol to document climate change indicator and impacts as locally experienced and to analyze their distribution. The dataset includes first-hand data in 48 sites inhabited by Indigenous Peoples and local communities and covering all climate zones and nature-dependent livelihoods. It documents 1,661 site-agreed reports of changes corresponding to 369 indicators.
