Monitoring virgin olive oil shelf-life by fluorescence spectroscopy and sensory characteristics: A multidimensional study carried out under simulated market conditions. Virgin olive oil is inevitably subject to an oxidation process during storage that can affect its quality due to off-flavors that develop before the oil surpasses its ‘best before’ date. Due to the complexity of the oxidation process at moderate conditions, where many parameters are involved, a multiparametric study is necessary to understand globally the physical-chemical changes and sensory quality degradation in a real storage experiment. In this context, a storage experiment of 27 months was performed for four monovarietal virgin olive oils, bottled in transparent 500-mL PET bottles and subjected to conditions close to a supermarket scenario (1000 lx with 12 hours of light/dark cycles and 25 °C). Physical-chemical quality parameters, phenolic compounds, α-tocopherol concentration and the degradation products of chlorophyll a were determined every month. Simultaneously, an accredited sensory panel assessed their sensory characteristics. The different physical-chemical quality parameters studied (peroxide value, free acidity, K232 and K270) were determined following the International Olive Council (COI) standard methods. The concentration of total phenols was determined by solid phase extraction and HPLC analysis, following the method described by Aparicio-Ruiz et al. (2016), and the α-tocopherol concentration was determined using the method ISO 9936:2016. Finally, the degradation compounds of chlorophyll a (pheophytin a and pyropheophytin a) were measured using the method specified by ISO 29841:2012. This work is licensed under the ADS Terms of Use and Access., ForSEAdiscovery is a European funded (Grant agreement no. 607545) project that combines dendrochronology, archaeology, and history in a multi-disciplinary approach to understand timber supplies for the construction of early modern vessels in the Iberian Peninsula. The overarching objective for the ForSEAdiscovery project is to consolidate a research line combining history, maritime archaeology, geographical information systems (GIS), dendrochronology, wood anatomy, and geo/dendro chemistry. The project aims to train and improve the proficiency of the Initial Training Networks (ITN) fellows and students in different research areas. It provides work experience and engages the fellows in workshops designed to improve their communication, research, and management techniques to promote transferable skills for future research in academia and the private sector. The project is organised into three working packages (WP) for the different disciplines represented. Work package one is focused on history (WP 1), the second work package deals with maritime archaeology (WP 2), and the third work package revolves around the wood sciences (WP 3). The research leading to these results has received funding from the People Programme (Marie Curie Actions) of the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP72007-2013) under REA grant agreement no. PITN-GA 2013-607545. This collection represents the data collected by ForSEAdiscovery during the fieldwork operations in 2015 and 2016. It is archaeological and diver data collected on five different shipwreck sites, four in the north of Spain, and one off the south coast of England. The IESDB is sourced from six different databases and more than 1,500 published and unpublished references, and includes information and figures for each of the 150 inventoried evaporite structures and their surrounding rocks. The database targets outcropping and buried diapirs, undeformed to slightly deformed evaporite successions, evaporite-cored anticlines, evaporite-detached thrusts, and allochthonous evaporite bodies. Compiled data include information about the stratigraphy, structure, event chronology, subsurface data availability, mining activity, and key bibliographic references of each indexed structure. Scientific publications referring to a specific topic or geographical region constitute an essential repository of the knowledge acquired for that topic or region. We present here a collection of scientific literature published since the beginning of the 20th century that contains reference information or data related to the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas (Jaén) in the discipline of Botany. This work is the result of the pioneering bibliographic compilation work carried out by one of the authors, Carlos M Herrera, who reviewed national and international journals for decades and facilitated the way to access these publications through his website. The catalogue is presented in two formats (xml, pdf) to make it accessible to the scientific community in a standardized way. The Global 0.5° gridded SPEI dataset is made available under the Open Database License. Any rights in individual contents of the database are licensed under the Database Contents License. Users of the dataset are free to share, create and adapt under the conditions of attribution and share-alike. The Global SPEI database, SPEIbase, offers long-time, robust information on the drought conditions at the global scale, with a 0.5 degrees spatial resolution and a monthly time resolution. It has a multi-scale character, providing SPEI time-scales between 1 and 48 months. The Standardized Precipitatin-Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) expresses, as a standardized variate (mean zero and unit variance), the deviations of the current climatic balance (precipitation minus evapotranspiration potential) with respect to the long-term balance. The reference period for the calculation, in the SPEIbase, corresponds to the whole study period. Being a standardized variate means that the SPEI condition can be compared across space and time. Calculation of the evapotranspiration potential in SPEIbase is based on the FAO-56 Penman-Monteith method. Data type: float; units: z-values (standard deviations). No land pixels are assigned a value of 1.0x10^30. In some rare cases it was not possible to achieve a good fit to the log-logistic distribution, resulting in a NAN (not a number) value in the database. Dimensions of the dataset: lon = 720; lat = 360; time = 1356. Resolution of the dataset: lon = 0.5º; lat = 0.5º; time = 1 month.
