DATA FROM: ASSESSING THE UPPER THERMAL LIMIT CONSTRAINING THE PHYSIOLOGICAL PERFORMANCE OF CALLINECTES SAPIDUS EMBRYOGENESIS UNDER CLIMATE WARMING SCENARIOS

[Methods] The dataset was collected using egg size measurements and ETS activity assays, and has been processed using RStudio v.2024.12.0 software to produce a MS accepted for publication in Neobiota. For egg size measurements, the major diameter of twenty randomly selected eggs were measured under a stereo microscope (SMZ25/18, Nikon Instruments Inc.) using the NIS-elements Imaging Software v. 5.21.00. Images were captured at a scale of 250 µm. By the other hand, ETS activity of embryos was measured following the method of Packard (1971), modified by Owens and King (1975), and adapted for microplate readings by Ruiz-Delgado et al. (2019). To calculate ETS activity per unit biomass, protein biomass (mg protein) was determined using the bicinchoninic acid (BCA) method described by Smith et al. (1985). Further details are described in the paper “Assessing the upper thermal limit constraining the physiological performance of Callinectes sapidus embryogenesis under climate warming scenarios”., This dataset contains physiological and morphological measurements of Callinectes sapidus (Atlantic blue crab) embryos measured under controlled thermal treatments in laboratory experiments, in order to assess temperature-driven constraints on embryonic development in projected warming scenarios. The dataset (in Excel file format) includes egg size measurements (µm) in “Data_Egg Size Callinectes sapidus.xlsx”, and Electron Transport System activity (µL O₂·h⁻¹·mg protein⁻¹) in “Data_Embryo ETS Callinectes sapidus.xlsx”. Each record is accompanied by metadata on the maternal origin (F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, and F6), incubation time (days), and temperature treatment (22ºC, 24ºC, 26ºC, and 28ºC). The dataset is structured into clearly labelled spreadsheets corresponding to each type of measurement, with units provided. The dataset supports further analysis of temperature effects on marine invasive species, especially concerning early developmental stages and metabolic responses, and may be reused for comparative physiological studies. All data were collected under ethical guidelines for animal research and conform to current regulations., Peer reviewed

ASTROPHYSICAL S-FACTORS FOR H-BURNING STARS

  • Herrera, Yago
  • Serenelli, Aldo
This dataset contains the latest recommendations of astrophysical S-factors for nuclear fusion reactions occurring in hydrogen-burning stars, included in the Solar Fusion III decadal review article (submitted for publication, e-print available at arXiv:2405.06470). The data includes S-factors and their derivatives at zero energy (where available). That is, S(0), S´(0), S´´(0), in units of MeV·b, b, and b/MeV, respectively. Fractional uncertainties are also provided (marked as fr_err). Unavailable data are marked as NA. This data was used to compute the Standard Solar Models B23 / SF-III. For further information and references consult the Solar Fusion III article linked above., Tabulated dataset available freely and publicly through ZENODO and DIGITAL.CSIC. The dataset provides nuclear reaction rates for H-burning reactions as published in the article listed here, European Commission: ChETEC-INFRA - Chemical Elements as Tracers of the Evolution of the Cosmos - Infrastructures for Nuclear Astrophysics 101008324, Peer reviewed

This repository provides the datasets underpinning the EuropaBON roadmap for a transnational biodiversity observation system in Europe. The data summarize 84 Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs), EBV-policy links, EU monitoring coverage of selected terrestrial, freshwater and marine examples, primary and supplementary monitoring techniques for EBVs and their relative importance, examples of monitoring sample sizes in Europe, and priorities for EBV workflow development. The files include: EBV metadata and characteristics: Overview and summary characteristics of 84 Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs), their entity types, spatiotemporal resolutions, and associated taxonomic and ecosystem groups. EBV-policy links: The direct or indirect, partial or complete links between a specific EBV and a specific EU policy. Monitoring coverage and effort: Sample size examples from EU-wide monitoring schemes, counts of freshwater monitoring sites under the Water Framework Directive, and shapefiles describing transect density, river and lake monitoring coverage, and number of marine monitoring programmes across Europe. Monitoring methods and priorities: Survey-based assessments of the relative importance of monitoring approaches (DNA-based, in-situ, citizen science, remote sensing, digital sensors), identification of primary and supplementary methods per EBV, and expert-elicited priorities for workflow development across terrestrial, freshwater, and marine domains. Together, these datasets provide a unique evidence base for: Designing an optimised spatial and methodological framework for biodiversity monitoring in Europe; Assessing current monitoring strengths, gaps, and redundancies across taxa, ecosystems, and regions; Supporting workflow development for EBV integration, modelling, and policy uptake; Informing the establishment of the proposed European Biodiversity Observation Coordination Centre (EBOCC). By making these datasets openly available, this repository provides transparacy for the design and implementation of a coordinated, policy-relevant, and technology-enabled biodiversity monitoring network in Europe. It serves as a direct companion to an associated scientific paper and as a reusable resource for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners working to strengthen biodiversity monitoring and conservation action in Europe and beyond., EuropaBON - Europa Biodiversity Observation Network: integrating data streams to support policy: 101003553, Peer reviewed

The SARS-CoV-2 virus and its rapid spread have made it a global health concern. We investigated the metabolic faecal profiles of paediatric patients hospitalised for COVID-19. The study included 16 patients (aged 4 to 14 years old) from six different Spanish hospitals and 20 age-matched healthy controls. The metabolic profile was analysed by liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry, observing different metabolic profile between the two groups. Non-infected children had higher faecal levels of vitamins such as niacin, thiamine, and vitamin D3 derivatives. This datasets contains the raw data from untargeted metabolomics analysis in mzML. A 1290 Infinity II LC system (Agilent Technologies, California USA) coupled to an Agilent 6560B ion mobility quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (IM-QTOF MS/MS) equipped with an Agilent G1607A dual Jetstream orthogonal electrospray ionisation (ESI) source and the MassHunter WorkStation 11.0, was used operating in positive and negative ion modes in the 50-1000 m/z range. Chromatographic separations were performed on a Zorbax Eclipse plus C18 RR HD column (30x50 mm 1.8 µm, Agilent) at a temperature of 40 ºC and a flow rate of 0.3 ml/min. In positive ion mode, the optimised mobile phases consisted of MilliQ water containing 0.04% formic acid (phase A) and methanol containing 0.04% formic acid (phase B), while in negative ion mode they consisted of water containing 10 mM ammonium formate (Sigma, phase A) and 100% methanol (phase B). The optimised gradient with QCs was set as follows: 5% B for 0.5 min; 5 to 100% B over 0.5 to 8 min; 100% for 8 to 12 min; 100 to 5% B over 12 to 13 min, re-equilibrating the column for 3 min using the initial solvent composition., Peer reviewed
