This allows, for the first time, continuous monitoring of the temperature, salinity, and velocity of the upper ocean, with all data being relayed and made publicly available within hours after collection. The array provides 100,000 temperature/salinity profiles and velocity measurements per year distributed over the global oceans at an average of 3-degree spacing. Some floats provide additional bio-geo parameters such as oxygen or chlorophyll. All data collected by Argo floats are publically available in near real-time via the Global Data Assembly Centers (GDACs) in Brest (France) and Monterey (California) after an automated quality control (QC), and in scientifically quality controlled form, delayed mode data, via the GDACs within six months of collection. The BGC-Argo Sprof snapshot is a subset of the global Argo data snapshot. It is created to ease BGC-Argo data usage. The content is the same if you are to download the global Argo data snapshot, and then select all the BGC-Argo Sprof files. Please use the same DOI and citation as the global Argo data snapshot., Peer reviewed

OLIVÉ ABELLÓ ET AL., 2025 DATASET - DIRECT PATHWAYS FROM THE DRAKE PASSAGE TO THE SOUTH ATLANTIC SUBTROPICAL GYRE [DATASET]

  • Olivé Abelló, Anna
  • Pelegrí, Josep Lluís
  • Claret, Mariona
El dataset se puede consultar y descargar en el siguiente enlace: https://zenodo.org/records/12772979, Lagrangian simulations based on 18 years (2002-2019) of high-resolution thermohaline and three-dimensional velocity fields allow revisiting the fate and thermohaline changes of the upper-ocean Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) waters that enter directly the South Atlantic Ocean basin. An advection-diffusion scheme, applied to both climatological annual-mean and daily-mean fields, allows estimating the mean pathways and seasonal variability, as well as recirculation volume transports, times and depths in the South Atlantic Subtropical Gyre (SASG). The annual-mean diffusive simulation shows that 96.5 Sv of the upper-ocean waters (up to the 28.00 kg m-3) crossing the Drake Passage remain in the ACC, while 13.0 Sv join the eastern margin of the SASG. Of these, 8.6 Sv plus an additional 2.7 Sv reach the North Brazil Current, yielding a total Drake contribution of 11.2 Sv to the upper returning-limb of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. The upper-ocean waters that reach the eastern SASG undergo substantial water mass transformations, with a net transfer of 6.7 Sv from intermediate-deep to surface layers and an increase in heat transport by 0.39 PW and salt transport by 8.5 × 106 kg s-1, but remain largely unchanged as they drift westward toward the western boundary at 21°S. Most waters within the SASG (86%) recirculate once, taking a median of 9.1 ± 9.0 years, although some complete as many as three loops after reaching 32°S-W. Regarding seasonality, the transit times and transport fraction of the upper-ocean waters flowing into the SASG show higher variability than those remaining in the ACC path. The dataset contains the Lagrangian particle outputs generated directly from Parcels v2, without any post-processing, for climatological annual-mean diffusive, daily-mean diffusive, annual-mean non-diffusive, and 18-year daily non-diffusive simulations. Annual_mean_diffusive_particles.nc: Lagrangian particles tracked using a climatological annual-mean simulation with horizontal diffusion (kh > 0) over a 75-year period. Annual_mean_nondiffusive_particles.nc: Lagrangian particles tracked using a climatological annual-mean simulation without horizontal diffusion (kh = 0) over a 75-year period. Daily_18y_nondiffusive_particles.nc: Lagrangian particles tracked using original GLORYS12v1 daily fields (2002–2019), without horizontal diffusion (kh = 0) over a 75-year period. Daily_mean_diffusive_4d_[MMDD].nc: Lagrangian particles tracked and released every 4 days using climatological daily-mean fields with diffusion (kh > 0) over a 75-year period. [MMDD] corresponds to the month and day on which particles were released. Please read the README.rt file for further details. Cite the preprint as: Anna Olivé Abelló, Josep L Pelegrí, Mariona Claret. DATA FOR: PHYLOGENOMIC AND POPULATION GENOMIC ANALYSES OF ULTRACONSERVED ELEMENTS REVEAL DEEP COALESCENCE AND INTROGRESSION SHAPED DIVERSIFICATION PATTERNS IN LAMPROLOGINE CICHLIDS OF THE CONGO RIVER

Understanding the drivers of diversification is a central goal in evolutionary biology, but can be challenging when lineages radiate quickly and/or hybridize frequently. Cichlids in the tribe Lamprologini, an exceptionally diverse clade found in the Congo basin, exemplify these issues: their evolutionary history has been difficult to untangle with previous datasets, particularly with regard to river-dwelling lineages in the genus Lamprologus. This clade notably includes the only known blind and depigmented cichlid, L. lethops. Here, we reconstructed the evolutionary, population, and biogeographic history of a clade of Lamprologus from the Congo River by sampling over 50 species of lamprologines using genomic data and providing the best species-level coverage of this fauna to date. We found that in the mid-late Pliocene, two lineages of Lake Tanganyika lamprologines independently colonized the Congo River, where they subsequently hybridized and diversified, forming the current monophyletic group of riverine Lamprologus. Our estimates for divergence time and introgression align with the region’s geological history and suggest rapid speciation in Lamprologus species from the Congo River marked by rapids-driven vicariance and water level fluctuations, repeated secondary contact, and reticulation. This complex hybrid origin, followed by a rapid series of isolation and reticulation events, illustrates the multifaceted dynamics of speciation that have shaped the rich biodiversity of this region., National Science Foundation: 1655227, DEB; National Science Foundation: 1655694, DEB, Peer reviewed

Dataset and R codes of "Fire modulates the structural and functional drivers of individual-base plant-pollinator networks" by Larissa Alves de Lima & Diego Anjos et al. We used individual-based plant-pollinator networks to evaluate: (i) How do plant- (i.e., individual traits, phenology) and site-related attributes (i.e., spatial factors, local temperature) influence interaction patterns before and after a fire? (ii) How is individual plant fitness affected by the combination of these attributes and the role of individual plants within the interaction network (i.e., centrality) before and after fire? Update (version 2) of the dataset and R codes of "Fire modulates the structural and functional drivers of individual-base plant-pollinator networks" by Larissa Alves de Lima & Diego Anjos et al. Our findings shows that facilitative interactions with conspecifics via pollinator sharing were diluted by fire, with potential delayed effects on population recovery. Our findings emphasize that fire causes a shift from facilitative processes to more competitive scenarios in plant-pollinator networks, with implications for population dynamics and community recovery., Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais: Student Fellowship11589 Coordenação de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior: Researcher grant88887.466638/2019–00 Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades: VI Plan Propio de Investigación National Council for Scientific and Technological Development: Researcher grant403647/2021-5, Peer reviewed
