A CORPUS-DRIVEN STUDY COMPARING CHINESE AND SPANISH AD

  • Yuchen, Liu
  • Casas-Tost, Helena
  • Rovira-Esteva, Sara
Yuchen Liu is also a beneficiary of the FI scholarship co-funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the European Social Fund., This article presents a corpus-driven study comparing AD in Chinese and Spanish, as a first step towards testing the feasibility of AD translation from Spanish into Chinese. A bilingual multimodal corpus consisting of eight films with AD in both languages was first compiled, and then a labelling scheme was designed for the corpus annotation with ATLAS.ti. The results from a quantitative and qualitative analysis of this corpus show that there are many similarities in content selection between Chinese and Spanish AD, which justifies our proposal of translating AD scripts from Spanish into Chinese to increase AD in China. However, we also found that Chinese AD carries a higher information load than Spanish AD. There are also differences in the general approach to AD, in the sense that Chinese scriptwriters tend to intervene or interpret more than their Spanish counterparts. Therefore, such differences also suggest the need for a certain degree of localisation if AD is translated from Spanish into Chinese instead of created ex novo.

METADATA AND RELATIVE ABUNDANCE OF SEMINAL MICROBIOTA FROM IDIOPATHIC INFERTILE PATIENTS AND DONORS

  • Garcia Segura, Sergio
  • Oliver Bonet, Maria
  • Benet i Català, Jordi
Data set obtained as a result of the sequencing by Illumina platform and subsequent taxonomic classification of the 16S rRNA gene of seminal microbiota from idiopathic infertile men and donors. The results are shown in terms of relative abundance of each bactera identified for each individual and are grouped into spreadsheets by taxonomic level (phylum, family, and genera). Each individual also presents metadata regarding information about their lifestyle, intake habits, clinical history, and analysis of their sperm quality parameters (seminogram, oxidative stress and sperm DNA integrity).

Altres ajuts: NARSAD Young Investigator Grant number #22434; Fundación Koplowitz; Women's Institute of Spain Project number 235/09; NIH P50 Project number MH115874; NIH Project number F32MH125634; NIH Project number K08 DK118201; VA Merit and Department of Defense, This dataset includes the source data related to the submission of the article "PACAP-PAC1R modulates fear extinction via the ventromedial hypothalamus" to Nature Communications. It includes data about mRNA and protein regulation of PACAP-PAC1R system after a stress paradigm coupled with a fear conditioning and fear extinction task. The effects of stress circuitry chemogenetic manipulation over PACAP-PAC1R regulation are also shown. Data from two cohorts of human participants are included, in the first cohort, the effects of the menstrual cycle over post-traumatic symptoms were investigated. In the second cohort, the effects of PACAP1R genotype in the SNP rs2267735 were investigated in a fear extinction task.

DATASET TO PREDICT MENTAL WORKLOAD BASED ON PHYSIOLOGICAL DATA

A high mental workload reduces the human performance and affects his/her ability to achieve a task. Despite the recent advances in neuroscience, yet there is a lack of knowledge about the interrelation between the mental processes in the brain and the produced mental workload at a giving time. The use of neuro-physiological data to assess abnormal mental states in the last decade has led to new manners to explore the brain and its association with mental workload. We present an open dataset for mental workload investigation. The dataset contains neuro-physiological recordings collected using an electroencephalogram (EEG) and an electrocardiogram (ECG). Participants were submitted to different tasks under different conditions to induce different levels of workload. In particular, three subsets were collected. First, playing the N-back test game to enforce the short term memory. Second, playing the Heat-the-Chair game (a serious game of own design) which enforce the performing of simultaneous tasks. Third, flying in an immersive simulated Airbus320 cockpit environment. The pilot must solve diverse critical situations, such as an engine failure, a sudden wind shear, or an urgent call of the air traffic controller (ATC). The design of the datasets has been validated by correlating the performance of subjects to their self-perceived difficulty. To make the dataset useful for testing the experiments, the ground-truth of mental workload of each task, both the objective and the subjective self-perceived is provided.
