An approach for description of Open Educational Resources based on semantic technologies

Open Educational Resources are accessed through the web, whose real setting shows an explosion in the use and development of tools and services based on Social Software. However, the growth of this data repository makes it difficult to find information of value, and reduces the possibilities of sharing and exchanging resources. Using semantic technologies to describe educational resources enables any agent (human or software-based) to process and understand its content (applying inference rules on more structured knowledge). Metadata standards can be used to annotate educational resources; they facilitate their interoperability and discovery. In this work, we propose, OER-CC ontology, for the description of Open Educational Resources under Creative Commons Licenses. This approach is based on standard technology and metadata standards. The ontology could be utilized in higher education institutions (and organizations) to facilitate sharing and discovery of their digital content. This electronic document is a "live" template. Through the application of semantic technologies to describe Open Educational Resources, any agent (human or software-based) could process and understand its contents; therefore, the agent could perform tasks autonomously or in a more effective way. In this paper, we describe the design and validation of the OER-CC ontology, which models the domain knowledge of educational resources licensed under Creative Commons Licenses. One of the most important contributions of this work is that we implement different rules and axioms to identify inconsistencies between rights provided by a licensed on an learning material and particular uses that are performed on it.

In this paper we show the applicability of orbital Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Differential Interferometry (DInSAR) with multiple images for terrain deformation episodes monitoring. This paper is focused on the Coherent Pixels Technique (CPT). This technique has been tested with ERS SAR and ENVISAT ASAR data for the period 1992-2008 from The Itoiz and Yesa reservoirs. These ones, located in Navarra, northern Spain, are constructed gravity dams that stores the water from the Irati and the Urrobi rivers, and the Aragón river respectively. The results has been compared with theoretical results obtained using an analytical model.

Itoiz reservoir is located in Navarra, northern Spain, being a newly constructed gravity dam that stores the water from the Irati and the Urrobi rivers. The dam has a total height of 121 m, a total length of 525 m and a maximum water storage volume of 410 hm3. The aim of this work is to study the surface displacement field during the impoundment of the Itoiz water reservoir. Orbital SAR Differential Interferometry (DInSAR) techniques have been proven to be a useful and powerful tool in tectonic areas for surveying subtle surface deformations over several years related to geodynamic phenomena. An advanced DInSAR observation technique, Coherent Pixel Technique (CPT), has been applied to study the existence of deformation in the dam area in order to obtain mean velocities and time series of deformation. We have studied the applicability of this technique to study the surface displacement field during the impoundment of the Itoiz water reservoir. Specifically, we focus on the analysis of the stability of the left slope of the reservoir. We have used ERS and ENVISAT descending and ascending images concerning to the 1992-2008 and 2003-2008 periods respectively. We compare the observation results with the displacement induced by water loading obtained using a theoretical model.

En las siguientes páginas se expone la última fase del proyecto museológico desarrollado en la insula I del Molinete (Cartagena, Murcia) desde que se iniciaron las excavaciones arqueológicas en 2008. Esta intervención ha supuesto la apertura al público del centro de interpretación denominado Barrio del Foro Romano , donde se integran dos edificios alusivos a la vida cotidiana del siglo I, con un singular estado de conservación.

The Effect of Cr Concentration on Defect Energies in FeCr Alloys

FeCr ferritic alloys are leading candidates for structural applications in generation IV fission reactors due to their high resistance to swelling and corrosion. The addition of Cr improves the behavior of the steels under irradiation, but this improvement is non-monotonic. Understandig the changes in the FeCr ferritic alloys microstructure induced by irradiation and the role played by the alloying element (Cr) is needed in order to predict the response of these materials under the extreme conditions in the future nuclear plants. In this work, we present the effect of Cr concentration in a bcc Fe matrix on binding and formation energies of vacancy clusters.

En favor de la enseñanza de la programación lineal en la formacion del ingeniero estructural

En este trabajo se defiende la oportunidad de incorporar la enseñanza de los conceptos y técnicas de programación lineal a la formación estándar del ingeniero estructural, dada la capacidad que dicha rama de la matemática aporta para formalizar de un modo completo los conceptos plicables a la estática y a la cinemática de la rotura de las estructuras, y a las relaciones teóricas que dichos conceptos mantienen entre sí, de una manera que cabe asemejar a la capacidad que las herramientas del álgebra lineal y las técnicas de solución de sistemas de ecuaciones aportan para entender el comportamiento elástico lineal de las estructuras. A dicha capacidad de formalización debemos añadir la gran difusión de que gozan algunos de los algoritmos de solución aplicables a los problemas de programación lineal, y en particular el algoritmo simplex, que permite su empleo sencillo con herramientas que están a disposición de cualquier estudiante. De este modo, la formación básica para entender las últimas fases del comportamiento estructural puede alcanzar un nivel semejante a la que actualmente se imparte para facilitar la comprensión de las fases iniciales, en el rango elástico lineal. This paper advocates the opportunity to incorporate the teaching of concepts and techniques of linear programming to the standard training of the structural engineer, given the ability that this branch of mathematics provides to formalize in a complete way the concepts applicable to the static and the kinematic of the rupture of structures, and the theoretical relations that these concepts keep within, in a way that resembles the ability that provide the linear algebra tools and the techniques for solving systems of equations to the understanding of the linear elastic behavior of structures. To this formalization capacity must be added the wide dissemination of some algorithms applied to solving linear programming problems, and in particular the simplex algorithm, which allows their use with simple tools that are available to any student. Thus, the basic training that is needed to understand the later stages of the structural behavior can reach a similar level to that achieved in the understanding of the early linear elastic stages.
