This dataset from the publication entitled "Dataset from "In silico assessment of collateral eddy current heating in biocompatible implants subjected to magnetic hyperthermia treatments" contains simulated data of magnetic hyperthermia treatments for three different indications: colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and head & neck cancer. Since the aim of the study is to evaluate the risk of thermal damage caused by the collateral heating of two common types of passive prostheses (hip and dental implants), eddy currents induced in these implants upon interacting with the externally applied ac field during treatment have been computed for all the evaluated regions. Two different alloys for the implants have been considered for each case as well: Ti6Al4V and CoCrMo. At the same time, besides temperature, the specific abosorption rate (SAR) have been also computed to work out the energy deposition in tissues. Calculations have been carried out using a het exchange model with and without thermoregulation. log-log SAR vs T plots have been obtained and proposed as a quick means to pre-check treatment feasibility in each patient. These graphs are thought to be included in treatment planning prior to the clinical procedure. Other parameters taken into account have been the treatment time (5 and 30 minutes), and the maximum tolerable temperature threshold (1 or 5 ºC, as indicated by the ICNIRP commission), all for three main types of tissues, namely fat, bone and muscle. Each tissue have been simulated using three different field intensities (5, 10 and 15 mT). The field frequency has been 300 kHz in all cases. The files "Dataset_description.doc" and "file_scheme.txt" contain the structure and description of the files that make up the dataset. UPDATES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS: simulations of the dental implant without thermoregulation have been added.

Se presenta una adenda con datos construidos y analizados que es continuación del Proyecto de Cooperación Universitaria al Desarrollo “Diseño y aplicación de un modelo difuso aplicación de un modelo difuso para la medición de la pobreza multidimensional causada por COVID-19 en el Perú” (AACID, 2021), realizado por investigadores de la Universidad de Cádiz y de la Universidad Nacional de Trujillo en 2022-2023. Los datos se refieren al total de familias encuestadas – y no a una muestra o selección de familias - de Santiago de Chuco (en el Departamento de La Libertad, Perú), encuestas que forman parte de las Encuestas Nacionales de Hogares (ENAHO) realizadas por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística e Informática del Perú, INEI, correspondientes a los años de 2019 y 2021, que han constituido el punto de partida para la construcción de datos y el análisis realizado en proyecto mencionado. En las ENAHO se analizan una serie de dimensiones e indicadores reflejadas en el Doc 1, y cuyo consolidado en los años de estudio se contiene en el Doc 2, y a los datos resultantes del análisis se ha aplicado la función de pertenencia establecida en el modelo difuso diseñado en el proyecto conforme al Doc 3.

Serious games are games with an educational purpose. In these games, players develop their skills by facing a number of challenges, and students are assessed according to their game playing behaviour. Assessment of serious game-based learning experiences has to take into account diverse features as game genre, pedagogical aim or game context. This paper analyses how skills are usually assessed in learning experiences based on serious games. To reach this objective, a systematic mapping study of more than 400 papers is undertaken. Papers were identified and classified according to a framework based on four categories: assessment aim, implementation, integration and primary assessment type. The reviewed literature mainly deals with contributions on methods and approaches for serious games. Results have revealed that most assessment methods are applied for a formative purpose more than for a certification purpose. Most frequent implementations such as game scoring and integrations like monitoring states were also uncovered. The main primary type of assessment detected was in-process. In addition, several limitations were found in the assessment methods: regarding the aim of assessment, certification of previous or attained skills was usually implemented out of the game; the scope of some implementations was limited because results were predefined earlier; and most of methods analysed present scalability issues because they rely on manual assessments. Such findings are analysed and discussed to clarify the state of the art and provide recommendations for further work in the area of serious games-based learning

Background. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is one of the most commonly performed bariatric surgeries is able to treat diabetes (T2DM) better than many drugs. The mechanisms that underlie this phenomenon remains unclear. We propose that somatostatin (SST), isoforms, SST-14 and SST-28, are key to explaining the pathophysiological mechanisms behind T2DM improvement after SG. Methods. We underwent surgeries on three groups of Wistar rats -fasting (FC), surgery control (Sham), and SG groups-. We measured plasma levels of glucose, insulin, SST-14 and SS-28 at several weeks after surgery, islet somatostatin receptor (SSTR) and cell populations at short and long-term after surgery. We performed a Pasireotide (SST-28 analogue) infusion assay in another group of rats to confirm the influence of SST-28 plasma levels on the delta-cell population. Results. We found an elevation of the insulin response after surgery in SG animals but a decrease in insulin response in the long-term with a loss of beta cell mass. An increase in duodenal SST-28-producing cells in the duodenum and a loss of pancreatic SST-14-producing cells was measured after SG but not in controls. The expression of SSTR-5 in delta-cell populations from every group and the ability of the Pasireotide infusion assay to decrease the delta-cell population indicate the effect of SST-28 plasma levels on delta-cell maintenance. Conclusion. After SG begins with a compensatory response in the duodenum, the depletion of beta cell mass after losing the brake that constitutes SST-14 at the paracrine level. This process may explain the percentage of T2DM relapse after SG.
