ESTUDIO SOBRE LA INNOVACIÓN EN ANDALUCÍA (2015)

[Description of methods used for collection/generation of data] PACIS is a survey panel. The owner of this panel is IESA-CSIC, a public scientific research center belonging to the Spanish National Research Council. The information obtained both at the time of registration and in the successive questionnaires answered by its members is protected by Law 12/89, which regulates statistical secret for public administrations, and can only be processed and disseminated in numerical and aggregate form, in order to guarantee the anonymity of the interviewees. The persons registered in PACIS are included in an automated file comprising contact data and basic classification variables, the purpose of which is to carry out scientific opinion surveys. This file, which is owned by IESA-CSIC, is not shared in any case with third parties, and IESA-CSIC applies appropriate security measures to comply with the Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on Personal Data Protection and guarantee of digital rights. Any person registered in PACIS can exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition by sending an email to agpd@pacis.es In the surveys carried out, only the personal information necessary to guarantee the quality of the research is collected. Once the data collection has been completed, the results matrix is anonymized and the data of the persons registered in the PACIS file is unlinked to their answers to the questionnaires. The questionnaires comply with the different specific quality standards in survey research such as UNE ISO-20252, ICC/ESOMAR, and specific Accessibility and Usability standards in digital formats such as UNE 139803 and WCAG 1.0., The codebook is available in Spanish and in English translation., [EN] The objetive of this study is to find out the assessment and attitudes of the Andalusian population towards innovation and to compare them with those of other regions and countries in our environment which similar studies have been carried out in order to situate the different opinions, preferences and behaviours of the Andalusian population in the social context of innovation.The survey was realized through the Citizen Panel for Social Research in Andalusia (PACIS), instrument start up by IESA/CSIC for the collection of quality information in research for scientific purposes or for improvement of public administration. This panel is made up of a set of households select at random to be representative of the Andalusian population. The survey was answered by 813 people (386 by internet and 427 by phone). CONVERGENCE OF DFT RESULTS ON THE ZIGZAG EDGE RECONSTRUCTION WITH RESPECT TO THE PARAMETERS OF THE MODEL OF SEMI-INFINITE GRAPHENE

As an example of such reaction, we considered the first stage of reconstruction of zigzag graphene edges, formation of the first pentagon-heptagon (57) pair. As a model, we used a zigzag graphene nanoribbon (ZGNR) under periodic boundary conditions. We computed the reaction energy for ZGNRs of different widths in simulation cells of different length, fixing different numbers of zigzag rows at the edge opposite to the one where the reconstruction takes place in such a manner that interatomic distances between these atoms are the same as in bulk graphene and considering carbon and hydrogen termination of the opposite edge. Our calculations showed that to converge the results, the ZGNR should consist minimum of 6 zigzag rows and the distance between the periodic images of 57 pairs along the ZGNR axis should be at least 6a0, where a0 is the lattice constant of graphene. It was demonstrated that fixation of atoms at the edge opposite to the one where the reconstruction takes place and the way this edge is terminated almost do not affect the results. Furthermore, we studied how the edge magnetization changes during the formation of 57 pairs and showed that the ordering of spins at the opposite nanoribbon edges should switch from the antiparallel (antiferromagnetic) to parallel one (ferromagnetic) upon decreasing the distance between the pairs. DEMOGRAPHY-DRIVEN AND ADAPTIVE INTROGRESSION IN A HYBRID ZONE OF THE ARMERIA SYNGAMEON

Syngameons represent networks of otherwise distinct species interconnected by limited gene exchange. Although most studies have focused on how species maintain their cohesiveness despite gene flow in these networks, there are additional relevant questions regarding the evolutionary dynamics of syngameons and their drivers, as well as the success of their members and the whole network. Using a ddRADseq approach, we analyzed the genetic structure, genomic clines and demographic history of a coastal hybrid zone involving two species of the Armeria (Plumbaginaceae) syngameon in Southern Spain. We inferred that one peripheral population of the sand dune-adapted A. pungens experienced genetic drift after a founder event and was subsequently introgressed by a local more abundant pinewood congener, A. macrophylla. This led to plastid capture resulting in extensive plastid DNA haplotype sharing between the two species across the whole hybrid zone. Genomic cline analysis identified bidirectional introgression, but more outliers with an excess ancestry of A. pungens than of A. macrophylla, which suggests A. pungens alleles are being selected for. This is consistent with the findings that A. pungens phenotype is selected for in open habitats. This scenario implies that bidirectional introgression is, on the one side, driven by demographic forces towards the immigrant range-edge bottlenecked population of A. pungens, which reduces its risk of stochastic extinction and increases its evolutionary potential as a novel hybrid lineage. On the other side, introgression towards A. macrophylla is driven by selection of alleles with A. pungens ancestry, enabling individuals to grow in open highly-irradiated habitats., Peer reviewed
