SAGAS Cruise (29HE20081122) carried out on the Research Vessel Hespérides in 2008, This project intends to study, through a multidisciplinary geological and geophysical approach, the current structure and recent evolution of the Gibraltar arch system (sag), which includes the basins and margins of the Alboran and Algerian-Balearic sea and its surroundings, the orogen bético-rifeño and the accretion prism of the Gulf of Cádiz. The objective is to gain a better understanding of the dynamics of the internal processes that affect the lithosphere and the earth's crust, the dynamics of external processes responsible for morphology, sedimentation and geoenvironment, and the interrelation between deep and superficial processes. The specific objectives refer to processes and mechanisms that occur at different scales, and therefore require complementary approaches, activities and methods. The project would increase the geological and geophysical infrastructure in the Spanish Mediterranean and is of interest for allowing actions aimed at preventing and designing contingency plans for geological and environmental risks in a region in which considerable earthquakes and underwater landslides occur

ATOS-2 Cruise (29HE20090124) carried out on the Research Vessel Hespérides in 2009, ATOS project: Atmospheric inputs of organic carbon and pollutans to the polar ocean: rates, significance and outlook. "Quantify the atmospheric contributions of organic carbon and pollutants to the polar oceans, both those that occur at present and those that occurred in the last century and that have accumulated in the sea ice, being currently contributed to the ocean due to the melting of the ice in the poles. 1. Quantifying the atmospheric inputs of organic carbon and key organic pollutants both in aerosol and gaseous phases. 3. Evaluating the fate of the materials, by assessing their use by biota and transference up the food webs. 4. Evaluating the effects on microplankton as the entry points of the materials in the food web. 2. Elucidating the role of sea ice cover in controlling these rates and the inputs associated to sea ice melting

CARIBE-NORTE Cruise (29HE20090405) carried out on the Research Vessel Hespérides in 2009, Analysis of contact between the Caribbean and North American plates, from the Beata ridge (Dominican Republic) to the Anegada Passage. The cruise collected multibeam bathymetry, gravity, magnetic, high-resolution seismic and three-channel seismic reflection data. A set of 5 OBS were anchored along that transect on both sides of the Beata Ridge and 2 seismic land stations at the Beata and Alto Velo Islands, recorded continuously the airgun shots provided by the R/V Hesperides
