Esta investigación resalta las interacciones y procesos pedagógicos en el uso educativo de robótica y programación visual por bloques en matemáticas, en la etapa de Educación Secundaria. Partiendo de conceptos y prácticas computacionales, se integran actividades prácticas y divertidas en el aula para el aprendizaje de la unidad didáctica de coordenadas cartesianas. Los participantes son 49 estudiantes de 2º grado de Educación Secundaria, 25 como grupo experimental y 24 como grupo de control. Partiendo de un diseño pre-experimental y un análisis descriptivo, la primera dimensión “Resultados académicos con el uso de la robótica” utiliza un test. En la segunda dimensión “beneficios de la robótica en contextos educativos” se valora el aprendizaje activo, los conceptos computacionales, las matemáticas, la utilidad y la diversión. Aunque se concluye que no hay mejoras significativas en el rendimiento académico, sí mejora de un modo significativo la utilidad, la aplicación en matemáticas, la utilidad percibida, y especialmente, la comprensión de los conceptos computacionales.

The database comes from the Competency Evaluation of the Madrid Region, an individualized assessment tests for all students in 3rd grade, 6th grade (last year of primary education) and 10th grade (last year of compulsory secondary education), that have been held from the 2015-2016 academic year to the 2018-2019 academic year. This database only covers the tests carried out in the last year (2019) in 6th and 10th grade, only with the data of the public schools. The data was provided by the government of the Community of Madrid. This database has been used in an article titled "Impact of the Madrid CLIL bilingual program on student achievement in primary and secondary education", which evaluates the Madrid bilingual program, comparing academic outcomes between bilingual and non-bilingual students using Propensity Score Matching.

Existing devices for measuring material appearance in spatially-varying samples are limited to a single scale, either micro or mesoscopic. This is a practical limitation when the material has a complex multi-scale structure. In this paper, we present a system and methods to digitize materials at two scales, designed to include high-resolution data in spatially-varying representations at larger scales. We design and build a hemispherical light dome able to digitize flat material samples up to 11x11cm. We estimate geometric properties, anisotropic reflectance and transmittance at the microscopic level using polarized directional lighting with a single orthogonal camera. Then, we propagate this structured information to the mesoscale, using a neural network trained with the data acquired by the device and image-to-image translation methods. To maximize the compatibility of our digitization, we leverage standard BSDF models commonly adopted in the industry. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate the precision of our device and the quality of our digitization process using a set of challenging real-world material samples and validation scenes. Further, we demonstrate the optical resolution and potential of our device for acquiring more complex material representations by capturing microscopic attributes which affect the global appearance: we characterize the properties of textile materials such as the yarn twist or the shape of individual fly-out fibers. We also release the SEDDIDOME dataset of materials, including raw data captured by the machine and optimized parameteres.
