Desarrollo y Plan de Marketing de un producto antifúngico biodegradable (QUINETEC 360°) para el control de Botrytis en fresa

The use of natural products based on essential oils (EOs) for the control of diseases caused by fungi is one of the most desirable alternatives to the use of chemical pesticides in agriculture. Its practical application has not taken place on a large scale mainly due to high volatility. It has been worked with chitosan (CH) and silica (S), as essential oil encapsulating material of cinnamon branch (EO). Two series of formulations were designed that were applied on strawberries and strawberry plants as preventive or curative treatments in three types of tests: laboratory, greenhouse and field. The efficacy of the formulations in terms of reducing the incidence and severity of fungal infection by the pathogen Botrytis cinerea was characterized. The post-harvest results showed a greater effectiveness of the formulations in preventive or curative mode depending on the applied dose. In pre-harvest, the preventive mode presented the best results. Formulations combining two or three types of components showed a greater reduction in incidence and severity than the components separately, being in general terms the combination of CH, S and EO of cinnamon the most effective formulation. Finally, a Marketing Plan of the selected product was designed based on the results obtained with the objective of optimizing the launch of the product to the market. The communication variable was significantly highlighted and the product was named as QUINETEC 360 °.
