Orofacial cleft is considered one of the commonest birth defects worldwide with a frequency of 1 per 500 live births. The Presurgical Nasoalveolar Molding (NAM) aims primarily to diminish the severity of the initial cleft condition. The primary objective of this study is to assess the perception, attitude, and opinions of parents and guardians of cleft palate patients, as well as their experience with pre-surgical orthopedics (NAM). 43 parents of children diagnosed of cleft lip/palate undergoing NAM treatment completed a questionnaire, and the responses are analyzed in this report. Most of respondents (79.1%) were mothers. Their ages fell predominantly within the range of 35-45 years (62.8%) or slightly younger (30.2% in the 25-35 age range). Only 23.3% were aware of the NAM treatment. The mother (39.5%) or both adults (55.8%) were responsible for managing the NAM. The baby's adaptation to NAM was favorable (average 3.4 ± 1.5; median 4.0)

This cover illustrates how carbon nano-onions can be intercalated with potassium atoms through surface defects by means of thermal heating. This reductive route allows the efficient covalent functionalization with electrophiles such as alkyl iodides.
