We provide 40 m resolution wildfire spread, hazard and exposure metric raster grids for the 0.13 million ha fire-prone Bages County in central Catalonia (northeastern Spain) corresponding to node influence grid (NIG), crown fraction burned (CFB) and fire transmission to residential houses (TR). Fire spread and behavior data (NIG, CFB and fire perimeters) were generated with fire simulation modeling considering wildfire season extreme fire weather conditions (97th percentile). Moreover, CFB was also generated for prescribed fire (Rx) mild weather conditions. The TR smoothed grid was obtained with a geospatial analysis considering large fire perimeters and individual residential structures located within the study area. We made these raster grids available to assist in the optimization of wildfire risk management plans within the study area and mitigate potential losses from catastrophic events., Dades primàries associades a un article publicat a la revista Data in Brief disponible a l'adreça https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dib.2017.12.069

THE WILDLAND-URBAN INTERFACE MAP OF CATALONIA
- Alcasena Urdíroz, Fermín J.
- Evers, Cody R.
- Vega García, Cristina
The wildland-urban interface (WUI) is the area where residential structures intermingle with hazardous vegetation and where most housing losses and human fatalities are concentrated. We provide a WUI map of Catalonia, a fire-prone area in northeast Spain where destructive fires caused substantial economic losses in previous decades. Individual housing location, structure density and the vegetation type were used to map the different WUI classes using a geographical information system. WUI areas were concentrated in the coastal belt where suburban sprawl has ocurred nearby or within unmanaged forests. This geospatial information data provides an approximation of potential loss given a fire and provides valuable information to assist landscape and urban planning in the region., Dades primàries associades a un article

Intensively managed grasslands are globally prominent ecosystems. We investigated whether experimental increases in plant diversity in intensively managed grassland communities can increase their resource use efficiency. This work consisted of a coordinated, continental-scale 33-site experiment. The core design was 30 plots, representing 15 grassland communities at two seeding densities. The 15 communities were comprised of four monocultures (two grasses and two legumes) and 11 four-species mixtures that varied in the relative abundance of the four species at sowing. There were 1028 plots in the core experiment, with another 572 plots sown for additional treatments. Sites agreed a protocol and employed the same experimental methods with certain plot management factors, such as seeding rates and number of cuts, determined by local practice. The four species used at a site depended on geographical location, but the species were chosen according to four functional traits: a fast-establishing grass, a slow-establishing persistent grass, a fast-establishing legume, and a slow-establishing persistent legume. As the objective was to maximize yield for intensive grassland production, the species chosen were all high-yielding agronomic species. The data set contains species-specific biomass measurements (yield per species and of weeds) for all harvests for up to four years at 33 sites. Samples of harvested vegetation were also analyzed for forage quality at 26 sites. Analyses showed that the yield of the mixtures exceeded that of the average monoculture in >97% of comparisons. Mixture biomass also exceeded that of the best monoculture (transgressive overyielding) at about 60% of sites. There was also a positive relationship between the diversity of the communities and aboveground biomass that was consistent across sites and persisted for three years. Weed invasion in mixtures was very much less than that in monocultures.
These data should be of interest to ecologists studying relationships between diversity and ecosystem function and to agronomists interested in sustainable intensification. The large spatial scale of the sites provides opportunity for analyses across spatial (and temporal) scales. The database can also complement existing databases and meta-analyses on biodiversity–ecosystem function relationships in natural communities by focusing on those same relationships within intensively managed agricultural grasslands., Dades primàries associades a un article publicat a la revista Journal of Applied Ecology disponible a l'adreça https://doi.org/10.1111/1365-2664.12991

ENZYMATIC DETOXIFICATION STRATEGIES FOR NEUROTOXIC INSECTICIDES IN ADULT TORTRICIDS
- Navarro Roldán, Miguel Ángel
- Bosch Serra, Dolors
- Gemeno Marín, César
- Siegwart, Myriam
We assess the main detoxification metabolic mechanisms to three neurotoxic insecticides in male and female adults of three economically important tortricid moth pests [Cydia pomonella (L.), Grapholita molesta (Busck), and Lobesia botrana (Denis & Schiffermüller)]. Statistical analysis shows that phase I enzymatic activities were important in both sexes of three species, whereas phase II enzymes were only important in G. molesta. As well, EST played a role in detoxification process of all insecticides tested. MFO are involved in detoxification process of thiacloprid and activation of chlorpyrifos in both sexes of three species. L. botrana has a particular profile compare to the two other species with enhanced activity of GST and MFO in males compare to females. Inhibition tests followed by enzymatic measurement reveal significant inhibition for EST with DEF. Although MFO and GST were not inhibited by PBO and DEM respectively at the tested time. Inhibition across time was observed with PBO in G. molesta and L. botrana, results shown differences in amounts of MFO measured at different times after inhibition, which were distinct between males and females., Dades primàries associades a un article publicat a la revista Bulletin of Entomological Research disponible a l'adreça https://doi.org/10.1017/S0007485319000415

REPLICATION DATA FOR: 'DO DEEPFAKES ADEQUATELY DISPLAY EMOTIONS? A STUDY ON DEEPFAKE FACIAL EMOTION EXPRESSION'
- García, Roberto
- López-Gil, Juan-Miguel
- Gil, Rosa
Recent technological advancements in Artificial Intelligence make it easy to create deepfakes, hyper-realistic videos in which images and video clips are processed to create fake videos that appear authentic. Many of them are based on swapping faces without the consent of the person whose appearance and voice are used. As emotions are inherent in human communication, studying how deepfakes transfer emotional expressions from original to fakes is relevant. In this work, we conduct an in-depth study on facial emotional expression in deepfakes using a well-known face swap-based deepfake database. First, we extracted the photograms from their videos. Then, we analyzed the emotional expression in both the original and the faked versions of the video recordings for all performers in the database. Results show that emotional expressions are not adequately transferred between original recordings and the deepfakes created from them. The high variability in emotions and performers detected between original and fake recordings indicates that performer emotion expressiveness should be considered for better deepfake generation or for detecting them.

FAIR-CHECK: SCRIPT TO CHECK FAIR PRINCIPLES COMPLIANCE
- Chamorro-Padial, Jorge
- García González, Roberto
- Gil Iranzo, Rosa María
Fair-check is a simple script to check FAIR principles compliance.
It uses FAIR Evaluator, a service which, using a SmartAPI annotation, can retrieve information to check whether a resource complies with certain FAIR Maturity Indicator Test.
Unfortunately, currently, only Gen2 Maturity Indicators can be automatically tested, Gen1 MIs should be checked by humans. In any case, we can still verify a lot of MIs. Take a look at: https://fairdata.services:7171/FAIR_Evaluator/metrics
This is the first version of FAIR-Check, a development version can be found at https://github.com/jorgechp/fair-check
