INTER Cruise (29GD19970215) carried out on the Research Vessel García del Cid in 1997, Interdisciplinary study of mesoscale instabilities and their interaction with local ,region and global circulation on the western Mediterranean. The existence of mesoscale instabilities and the position of the platform-slope front will be investigated, by means of an intensive sampling with simultaneous measurements of physical and biological parameters. Once selected some structures, their Langarian monitoring will be carried out and the evolution of the affected planktonic populations will be investigated. , to study the impact on its survival, with special interest in the first stages of growth of some species of fish and crustaceans characteristic of the area. A small scale study will be carried out in the frontal zone to investigate its border role of planktonic organisms . Campaign plan: A sampling network will be carried out with stations every 5 miles from the coastal zone to beyond the slope front, and data will be recorded continuously with thermosalinograph and ADCP. At each station the following works will be carried out; CTD / fluorometer and water intake with Rosette for nutrient data, concentration of chlorophyll and aromatic compounds in its particulate phase.
