The Equivocal Mirror, an original film, by Sergio Camacho and Luis Ortega. Two performances, one story. One Mirror, two sights, by Teatro de Nieve & Luna de Mayo Luna de Mayo and the production company Teatro de Nieve, both Newcastle-based, present a set of two performances on the ambiguity of internal and external worlds. The two performances present original live music sets for two complementary editings of the same film, creating a dual visual narrative that interacts to create two independent but related stage shows. Combining contemporary visual and music languages, Teatro de Nieve present a stage performance by composer Sergio Camacho on the original film ‘The Equivocal Mirror’, directed by Luis Ortega. The film uncovers a story of hopes lost by the sea. The performers and orchestra on stage are the bridge between the world on the screen and our physical reality. On the second performance, Luna de Mayo performs their own sight into the Equivocal Mirror, from their singular perspective on a profound reediting of the show, that effectively retells the story from a different angle, with original music by Sergio Camacho. With their Spanish and Latin folk roots, and a panel of traditional and amplified instruments, they will establish a radically different dialogue between stage and screen, with their distinctive accent. Two independent performances, about one single story. The life, through a mirror. The film was premiered at the SAGE Gateshead, as a dual visual narrative performance with live music, within the SOUND 08 programme. The screen version music was recorded by The Selenia Orchestra, conducted by Sergio Camacho, for its presentation at Almería en Corto Film Festival, and was performed by the Newcastle New Music group, at the Kings Hall. The project concept received an Award from Northern Film & Media through the Generator's Sound & Vision scheme., SAGE Gateshead, Northern Film & Media, SOUND 08
