SIGNALLING ADAPTOR TRAF1 MODULATION, AS A THERAPEUTIC TARGET, TO RESTORE HCV-SPECIFIC CYTOTOXIC T CELL RESPONSE REACTIVITY DURING CHRONIC INFECTION

  • Larrubia, Juan-Ramón
  • Moreno-Cubero, Elia
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) worldwide infects around 170 million people. Two thirds of primo-infections develop a chronic disease that could lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. This infection can be cured with direct acting anti-virals (DAA) but there are still difficult to treat cases relapsing after treatment, in which immunotherapy could play a role in curation. A successful immune response against HCV depends on virus-specific CD8+ T cells. During chronic infection, these cells are functionally impaired. The degree of this immune impairment could rely on the grade of co-stimulation failure over time of infection. The analysis of this dataset shows that: (1) Patients with short-mid lasting HCV infection had mild exhausted T cells, featured by loss of the key signal transducer (TRAF1) of the positive checkpoint 4-1BB/4-1BBL. (2) The functionality of these cells can be restored by IL-7-induced TRAF1 up-regulation, while in long-lasting infection to block the negative-costimulatory pathway PD-1/PD-L1 was also necessary. (3) Nevertheless, this last strategy was only useful in slow-fibrosers, suggesting an extreme T cell exhaustion or deletion in rapid fibrosers. In sum, our work supports novel ways of restoring specific CD8+ T cell response during chronic HCV infection, shedding light on the importance of TRAF1 signalling, which could be a promising target for immunotherapy in non-responders to DAA.

A PYTHON PROGRAM TO REDUCE ELECTRICAL NETWORKS

  • Ledesma Larrea, Pablo
Modern transmission networks may contain tens of thousands of busbars. Joint studies involving transmission and distribution grids pose the problem of large size of the resulting system, which may make them unmanageable. This work presents a program that reduces an electrical network, keeping only those busbars where electrical energy resources are connected. The program is written in Python and can be executed by a free-software interpreter. It can by applied to distribution networks to obtain a reduced model that still contains all relevant data needed to perform dynamic studies on the transmission grid.

AN ECOSYSTEM SERVICES APPROACH TO THE ECOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF SALVAGE LOGGING: VALUATION OF SEED DISPERSAL

  • Leverkus, Alexandro B.
  • Castro, Jorge
Data used to calculate the replacement cost of the natural regeneration of the Holm oak under three post-fire management scenarios in Leverkus and Castro (Ecological Applications, 2017). The data consist of a) the densities of natural regeneration in each replicate of the three treatments (“Seedling densities"), and b) the cost of reforestation with Holm oaks (“Reforestation cost data”). The calculation of the average values presented in the manuscript is reproduced in “Table 1” (for the numbers and densities of seedlings per treatment) and in “Summary of reforestation costs” (for the average cost of reforestation). For further details and study site descriptions, see the cited manuscript and the references therein.

GAMS TRANSIENT STABILITY-CONSTRAINED OPTIMAL POWER FLOW MODEL OF THE IEEE 39 BUS TEST CASE INCLUDING NON-SYNCHRONOUS GENERATION

  • Ledesma Larrea, Pablo
  • Arrendondo Rodríguez, Francisco
  • Castronuovo, Edgardo Daniel
This file is a supplementary material of the paper "Optimal curtailment of non-synchronous renewable generation in the island of Tenerife considering steady state and transient stability constraints". It contains a transient stability-constrained optimal power flow model written in GAMS. The model represents the IEEE 39 Bus Test System with the addition of ten non-synchronous generators connected at different buses. To execute the file, open it in GAMS or type "gams tscopf_nonsyn.gms" from the command line.

RGF1P (RHO1P GEF) IS REQUIRED FOR DOUBLE-STRAND BREAK REPAIR IN FISSION YEAST [DATASET]

  • Manjón Pérez, Elvira
  • Edreira González, Tomás
  • Muñoz Félix, Sofía
  • Sánchez Martín, Yolanda
[EN]The dataset includes seven Supplementary Figure Legends about the exchange factor Rgf1p is involved in the repair of DNA double-strand breaks induced by Phl treatment. In S. pombe, the DNA damage checkpoint is activated by Rad3p (ATR homolog), which in turn activates its downstream protein kinase, Chk1p (67). The rgf1Δ cells are sensitive to CPT and highly sensitive to Phl, both drugs trigger a strong checkpoint response., CICYT, Spain [BFU2011-24683/BMC]; Junta de Castilla y León [SA073U14]. INDIVIDUAL LEVEL SURVEY MOROCCAN ORIGIN COMMUNITY OF TURIN

  • Sajir, Zakaria
[EN]This dataset contains 200 individual-level cases from a survey of the Moroccan-origin population residing in the municipality of Turin (Italy). The target population includes adults aged 18 or older who were either born in Morocco or born in Italy with at least one parent of Moroccan origin. Fieldwork was conducted between May and October 2014 through face-to-face paper-and-pencil interviews. The sample was selected using the Centre Sampling Technique, based on lists of “aggregation centres” (such as mosques, training centres, ethnic shops and outdoor markets) regularly visited by members of the Moroccan community. Within each selected centre, respondents were chosen through systematic sampling, and post-stratification weights were applied to account for different probabilities of inclusion across centres, yielding a final net sample of 200 completed interviews with an overall response rate of 72%. The dataset is provided in Stata format and is accompanied by the full individual questionnaire in Italian, show cards in Italian and Arabic, and a short preliminary instrument used to measure the frequency of visits to aggregation centres.

This article is an open access article distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/), Drought indices are essential metrics for quantifying drought severity and identifying possible changes in the frequency and duration of drought hazards. In this study, we developed a new high spatial resolution dataset of drought indices covering all of Spain. The dataset includes seven drought indices, spans the period 1961–2014, and has a spatial resolution of 1.1 km and a weekly temporal resolution. A web portal has been created to enable download and visualization of the data. The data can be downloaded as single gridded points for each drought index, but the entire drought index dataset can also be downloaded in netCDF4 format. The dataset will be updated for complete years as the raw meteorological data become available., Data Set: http://monitordesequia.csic.es/, This work was supported by research projects PCIN-2015-220, CGL2014-52135-C03-01, CGL2014-52135-C03-02 and CGL2014-52135-C03-03 financed by the Spanish Commission of Science and Technology and FEDER, IMDROFLOOD financed by the Water Works 2014 co-funded call of the European Commission and INDECIS, financed by the European ERA4CS Joint Call for Transnational Collaborative Research Projects., We acknowledge support by the CSIC Open Access Publication Initiative through its Unit of Information Resources for Research (URICI)., Peer reviewed
