  • Morugán Coronado, Alicia
  • Linares, Carlos
  • Zornoza Belmonte, Raúl
This data set contains a data-mining performed to assess the impact of intercropping, tillage and fertilizer type on soil and crop yield in fruit orchards under Mediterranean conditions by a further meta-analysis of the data. These data correspond to the open-access article "The impact of intercropping, tillage and fertilizer type on soil and crop yield in fruit orchards under Mediterranean conditions: A meta-analysis of field studies" published in Agricultural Systems. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.agsy.2019.102736), funded by he European Commission Horizon 2020 project Diverfarming [grant agreement 728003]. Raúl Zornoza acknowledges the financial support from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the “Ramón y Cajal” Program [RYC-2015-18758].

Nowadays, a significant research effort is devoted to understand and mimic biological lubricants which, in contrast to most man-made lubricants, are based on water. It has been extensively shown that nature overcomes the poor lubricity of water with the addition of biological molecules, mostly proteins. Among these proteins, mucins are recognized as instrumental for biological lubrication. However, the molecular details of their lubricating properties are yet poorly understood. While structural studies of mucins at surfaces have given some insight into this aspect, the fact is that very little is known on the structure of confined mucin films, i.e. the really relevant system in the study of mucin lubrication. We propose to study this system by means of neutron reflectivity and grazing-incidence small-angle scattering employing a recently developed surface force type apparatus that allows the investigation of confined thin films.

Organic and hybrid solar cells are emerging photovoltaic technologies that may reach the market in the coming years. Nevertheless, the process of charge photogeneration and transport is not completely understood. CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells have reached PCE > 23%, but its stability is poor, with lifetimes lower than one year. The crystalline structure of the active layer determines the charge photogeneration and transport, and therefore affects its power conversion efficiency (PCE) and the operational stability of the device. The addition of small molecules (amino valeric acid) is changing the structure of the material and providing longer lifetimes. Also, if part of the Pb atoms is replaced by Mn, a long range magnetic order develops at low temperatures (Tc around 25K). We plan to determine the atomic and magnetic structure of CH3NH3PbI3 solar cells by neutron diffraction and study its thermal dependence. The perovskite structure and its distortion at several temperatures ranging from 10K to 300K will be measured. The long range magnetic structure (RKKY interaction) when part of the Pb is replaced by Mn will be studied as a function of temperature and the content of Mn.
