Virus Res. 2013;173(1):140–149., Image Challenge Answers, C. African swine fever virus African swine fever (ASF) virus infects monocytes/macrophages and endothelial cells. The macroscopic lesion pattern mirrors the vascular damage. The lesions are due to vascular leakage of protein-rich fluid or frank diapedesis of erythrocytes illustrated by the gallbladder edema and hemorrhage in this case (Figure 1). These lesions are nonspecific; other notifiable pig diseases such as classical swine fever (hog cholera) should thus be considered as differential diagnoses, along with septicemia and idiopathic coagulation disorders. The recent cases of ASF in Europe and China, and of classical swine fever in eastern Asia, highlight the need for awareness of the gross lesions of these diseases., Peer reviewed

DATASET OF THE PAPER “GROUPING PRODUCTS FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF PRODUCTION PROCESSES: A CASE IN THE STEEL MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY”. EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF OPERATIONAL RESEARCH, 286(1), 190-202

The optimization of a production process is often based on the efficient utilization of the production facility and equipment. In particular, reducing the time to change from producing one product to another is critical to the fulfillment of demand at a minimum cost. We study the production of steel coils in the context of searching for groups of products with similar characteristics in order to create production batches that minimize the cost of fulfilling production orders originated by a known demand. We formulate the problem as mixed-integer program and develop a heuristic solution procedure. We show that a simplified version of the problem is equivalent to the clique partition problem, which in turn is equivalent to the graph-coloring problem. Computational experiments show that the heuristic procedure is effective in finding high-quality solutions to both the clique partition problem and the original grouping problem that includes additional costs., This work was partially supported by FEDER funds and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Projects ECO2013-47129-C4-3-R and ECO2016-76567-C4-2-R), the Regional Government of Castilla y León, Spain (Project BU329U14 and BU071G19), and the Regional Government of Castilla y León and FEDER funds (Project BU062U16).

Two different tool geometries were used, R204.6D and BH04.5D from toolmaker Kendu and the tests were carried out on a Lagun vertical machining centre. The material used was 35CrMo4LowS. A kistler rotational dynamometer was installed to acquire the feed force and cutting torque. Along with these signals were acquired other signals provided by the machine. For each of the tools used during the tests, 5 holes were drilled. For each tool geometry the cutting conditions were fixed while the parameter that was modified was the tool wear. Totally, the data consists of 90 csv files, each of them corresponds to a hole made at a certain level of tool wear. The signals that can be found in these files are the internal signals of the machine, the thrust force and the cutting torque. All signals were acquired at -Fs= 250 Hz; T=4 ms-.

Increasing physical activity (PA) is currently widespread among the population. Thus, in addition to the professional, the amateur and the physically inactive persons being engaged for many different reasons, PA is considered a major driver for optimal health achievement throughout life. Many adopters, either at a professional or an amateur level, are able to spend part of non-legible monetary resources looking for maximum performance. It is widely known and scientifically accepted that one of the most influential factors for full achievement of PA benefits, apart from adequate training, is a proper diet. All athletes tend to follow specific diets according to the type of sport performed, but still, not everyone responds the same way to the same type of intake. Interestingly, when consumers are directed to perform PA, either by self-initiative or as directed by providers (health care or recreational), the dietary advice is often misleading, without profound knowledge of general metabolism or adaptation to exercise. Thus, the personalized dietary approaches, followed for weight control, have not been adopted in response to PA. In this framework, the major goal of the present project is to generate scientific evidence for further development of personalized nutrition tools towards PA. For this purpose, we will adopt the following approach: Volunteers will follow an standardized PA(e.g. running, swimming or cycling) and blood sampling will be obtained by minimally invasive systems, both before (pre) and after (post) exercise. Samples thus obtained will be analysed by mass-spectrometry based metabolomic approaches and the expert system to be developed will help to classify changes in each volunteer in any of the metabolomic clusters. A personalized advice towards PA and dietary changes will be recommended to the volunteer, which will adopt it and repeat the analyses, to ascertain whether the expected changes occur.
