[EN] The collection of biological samples from the Oceanographic Center of the Canary Islands will address virtually all marine zoological groups (fish, molluscs, cephalopods...) on the West African coast and the Antarctic continent. Constantly growing, the Center, in its Biological Sample Collection, has, for the time being, a collection of spines and cuts of tunid spines, but will incorporate the rest of the biological material that exists in the center and that is added every year (otoliths and scales, cephalopod statoliths, skin and jaws of condrictios, spines and cuts of tunid spines , etc.).

BANDASCA, BASE DE DATOS SOBRE SCARABAEIDAE
- Lobo, Jorge M.
- CSIC - Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN)
These data proceed from BANDASCA, a database which compiles all the available information from literature, museum and private collections, doctoral thesis, as well as other unpublished data available for the entire Iberian Peninsula (see structure in Lobo and Martín-Piera 1991). At present, it contains the information of 96 981 individuals of the 53 Iberian Scarabaeinae species. A database-record was defined as a pool of specimens of a single species with identical database field values (locality, UTM coordinates, altitude, date of capture (day/month/year), type of habitat and food resource; among others) regardless of the number of specimens; so any difference in any database field value gave rise to a new database-record. Note: this dataset was previously orphaned. It has been rescued by ① extracting it from the GBIF.org index (see GBIF Download in External Data) and ② republishing it on this IPT data hosting centre as version 1.0.

It holds about 4,000,000 specimens from almost all over the world, being its main strength the Iberian Peninsula, Canary Islands, Morocco and Equatorial Guinea. It keeps some 25,000 type specimens, representing some 6,100 taxa. Strong points are Orthoptera (s.l.), Coleoptera and Hymenoptera.Iberian Orthopteroids, some Coleoptera and Hymenoptera are accessible online Note: this dataset was previously orphaned.
