These data are associated to the paper with the same title of the authors, and are structured according to the figures in the paper: http://hdl.handle.net/2117/335727, The use of Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) in oncology is being recently studied as a novel potential anti-cancer therapy. However, the beneficial effects of CAP for treating osteosarcoma have mostly been demonstrated in 2-dimensional cultures of cells, which do not mimic the complexity of the 3-dimensional (3D) bone microenvironment. In order to evaluate the effects of CAP in a relevant context of the human disease, we developed a 3D tissue-engineered model of osteosarcoma using a bone-like scaffold made of collagen type I and hydroxyapatite nanoparticles. Human osteosarcoma cells cultured within the scaffold showed a high capacity to infiltrate and proliferate and to exhibit osteomimicry in vitro. As expected, we observed significantly different functional behaviors between monolayer and 3D cultures when treated with Cold Plasma-Activated Ringer’s Solution (PAR). Our data reveal that the 3D environment not only protects cells from PAR-induced lethality by scavenging and diminishing the amount of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species generated by CAP, but also favours the stemness phenotype of osteosarcoma cells. This is the first study that demonstrates the negative effect of PAR on cancer stem-like cell subpopulations in a 3D biomimetic model of cancer. Datos de investigación correspondiente a satisfacción vital en cuidadores de personas con demencia

Se presentan los modelos en 3D con formato stl de los cráneos analizados en la publicación Pérez-Ramos et al. (2020). Los modelos fueron construidos a partir de Tacs. Se escanearon doce cráneos procedentes de diferentes museos. Los cráneos de Ursus thibetanus, Ailuropoda melanoleuca y Tremarctos ornatus están conservados en las colecciones osteológicas de la Universidad de Valladolid (España). El escáner CT utilizado para estos cráneos es un escáner CT médico del modelo Aquilion 32 TOSHIBA del Hospital Universitario de Valladolid. Las condiciones de adquisición del TAC fueron 512x512 120 Kv y 250 mA. Para U. thibetanus el tamaño del vóxel es de 0,4680 (X.Y) y 0,3 mm de intersección (Z). Para el primer espécimen se obtuvieron 1114 cortes y para el segundo 1127 cortes. El tamaño del voxel para T. ornatus fue de 0.3819 (X.Y) y 0.5 mm de inter-cortes (Z) y el tamaño de voxel para Ailuropoda melanoleuca fue de 0,5200 (X.Y) y 0,3 mm de cortes intermedios (Z). Además, las TC de Ursus arctos, Ursus maritimus y U. americanus del sitio web de Digimorph (http://www.digimorph.org). Los escáneres de rayos X se realizaron a alta resolución en Universidad de Texas (1024X1024) lo que dio lugar a un espaciado entre cortes de 0,70-1 mm. Las condiciones de adquisición para Ursus arctos fueron de 450 kV, 3 mA, obteniendo 425 cortes. Para Ursus maritimus fueron 420 kV, 1,8 mA, obteniéndose 540 cortes. Las TC de Ursus americanus (USNM 227070) se realizaron con un tamaño de píxel (x) e (y) era de 0,2930 mm con un espaciado entre cortes de 0,325 mm en (z). Las imágenes de los TAC se exportaron como imágenes de 16 bits en formato TIFF o DICOM. Estas imágenes fueron claibradas para eliminar los ruidos de fondo debidos a los efectos fotoeléctrico y Compton seleccionando rangos específicos de los histogramas (región de interés ROI) con el programa software ImageJ v. 1.50e (http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/)., Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (CGL2012-37866; CGL2015-68300P)
