We evaluate the potential of LiDAR and RGB imagery obtained through unmanned aerial vehi-cles (UAVs) as high-throughput phenotyping tools for the characterization of tree growth and crown structure in two representative Mediterranean pine species (P. nigra and P. halepensis). Both UAV-based methods were then tested for their accuracy to detect genotypic differentiation among Pinus nigra and Pinus halepensis populations and their subspecies (black pine) or ecotypes (Aleppo pine). We investigated the possible relation between intraspecific variation of morphometric traits and life-history strategies of populations by correlating traits to climate factors at origin of pop-ulations. Finally, we investigated which traits distinguished better among black pine subspecies or Aleppo pine ecotypes. The data included raw values of morphometric traits derived from LiDAR and RGB-UAVs and measured in situ, populations means of statistically relevant morphometric traits and climate variables at site, and subspecies (P. nigra) and ecotypes (P. halepensis) means of statistically significant morphometric traits.

DATA OF A STUDY OF SEX PHEROMONE DETECTION BY FEMALES OF THE ORIENTAL FRUIT MOTH, GRAPHOLITA MOLESTA

  • Gemeno Marín, César
  • Perez-Aparicio, Alicia
  • Ammagarahalli, Byrappa
The study explores if female Grapholita molesta moths can detect its own sex pheromone. The approach involves electroantennography (EAG), single -sensillum recordings (SSR), analyzed with non-linear dose-response and hierarchical cluster analysis. The excel file contains the data, the word file contains the R code. The data are from 3 different experiments. Experiment 1 is the electroantennographic (EAG) response of male and female Grapholita molesta adults to the female sex pheromone components, Z8-12:Ac and E8-12:Ac. Experiment 2 are single-sensillum recordings (SSR) of Z- and E-ORNs from males to the major and minor sex pheromone compounds of females. The EAG and SSR were analyzed with non-linear dose-response curves. In experiment 3, male and female ORNs were challenged with two doses of the major and minor female sex pheromone compounds, a plant volatile blend and the male-produced hairpencil courtship pheromone. The results of experiment 3 were analyzed with hierarchical cluster analysis. The R code is for descriptive statistics (means, and such), predictive statistics (GLMs and such) and graphs and in addition to the code there are indications for teh different steps, plus selected output . Data for submission of research manuscript.

CORPUS GOLD STANDARD TAGFACT V.0.1

  • Castellón Masalles, Irene
  • Curell i Gotor, Hortènsia
  • Fernández Montraveta, Ana María
  • Vázquez García, Glòria
The Corpus Gold Standard TAGFACT v.0.1 is a Spanish corpus manually annotated with factuality information. The corpus consists of 11 news items (basically political), with a total of 5,240 words (approximately 160 sentences) extracted from newspapers. They are all newspapers published in Spain and, predictably, are mostly in peninsular Spanish. The corpus has been manually annotated with information about factuality of 633 predicates. Six linguists worked on it, all of whom had undergone training. The analysis of inter-annotator agreement was made in pairs, a total of 30, and, on average, the result was acceptable. Two XML versions of the Corpus Gold Standard TAGFACT v.0.1 are available. In each one different tagsets (defined with more or less abstraction) have been used, but equivalences have been stablished.

Discovering the routes by which trace substances, phytoplankton, and dissolved gases like oxygen, are transported vertically, as they are also carried horizontally by oceanic currents, is the goal of this research. An innovative set of observational techniques are being used, along with process study models, predictive models, and data synthesis, to identify coherent pathways for vertical transport and to diagnose and predict the physical processes that underlie such subduction., ONR Departmental Research Initiative; Ministerio de ciencia, innovación y universidades (http://www.ciencia.gob.es/); Govern de les Illes Balears (http://www.caib.es/); IMEDEA(http://imedea.uib-csic.es)., Peer reviewed
