BULK-BOUNDARY EIGENVALUES FOR BILAPLACIAN PROBLEMS

  • Buoso, Davide
  • Falcó, Carles
  • González, María del Mar
  • Miranda, Manuel
We initiate the study of a bulk-boundary eigenvalue problem for the Bilaplacian with a particular third order boundary condition that arises from the study of dynamical boundary conditions for the Cahn-Hilliard equation. First we consider continuity properties under parameter variation (in which the parameter also affects the domain of definition of the operator). Then we look at the ball and the annulus geometries (together with the punctured ball), obtaining the eigenvalues as solutions of a precise equation involving special functions. An interesting outcome of our analysis in the annulus case is the presence of a bifurcation from the zero eigenvalue depending on the size of the annulus., This work was initiated while C. Falcó was participating in the program “Introducción a la Investigación Severo Ochoa” grant at the Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas (ICMAT). M.d.M. Files include the data necessary for the estimation of the population density by REM (DataREMZenodo.xlsx), data on indirect interactions recorded by camera traps at the pilot monitoring site level (DataIntZenodo.xlsx), and the metadata of the images (Metadata_imagesbyPP.xlsx)., This study aims to report the implementation of the first nationwide pilot trial of balanced IWM in Europe, using a network of 11 pilot monitoring sites in Spain. The insights obtained in this pilot IWM trial will help to further develop a comprehensive IWM and serve as a reference for implementing IWM systems in other regions. For this purpose, a grid of 20 camera traps (Browning Strike Force HD ProX, Browning Arms Company®, Morgan, Utah, USA) was deployed for two months at each study site (n=11). REM was applied to wild boar (Sus scrofa), red deer (Cervus elaphus), and red fox (Vulpes vulpes) as the most frequently detected species. Relative abundance indexes, namely trapping rate and relative occupancy index, were calculated for the remaining, less frequently detected species., Peer reviewed

IMPLICIT THEORIES ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE MALLEABILITY AND PRO-ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIORAL INTENTIONS

  • Cuadrado, Esther
Here you can find the SPSS data used for the manuscript titled "The role of implicit theories about climate change malleability in the prediction of pro-environmental behavioral intentions" accepted on 2022, June, in The Environment, Development and Sustainability. In this research, we analyze how the sense of responsibility toward climate change and implicit theories about climate change (ITCC) interact to condition individual pro-environmental intention in a pretest–posttest experiment., Peer reviewed

DATABASE OF DECEPTION ISLAND'S TEPHRA RECORD (DECTEPHRA)

Deception Island (South Shetland Islands) is one of the most active volcanoes in Antarctica, with more than 20 explosive eruptive events registered over the past few centuries. Recent eruptions (1967, 1969, and 1970) and volcanic unrest episodes (1992, 1999, and 2014 – 2015) demonstrate that volcanic activity will likely occur in the future. Despite the urgent need to develop an accurate long-term assessment of the volcanic hazard of the island, past attempts have always been limited by the incompleteness of the eruptive record. Volcanic ash layers found in marine and lacustrine sediment cores and glaciers outside Deception Island are a fundamental source of information for reconstructing the explosive eruptive record of the volcano. The spatial distribution of the tephra layers, as well as their physicochemical analysis are invaluable for determining the size and explosiveness of past eruptive events, as well as for assessing the extent and impact of their related hazards (e.g., ash fall out). In order to overcome the dispersion of existing data amongst numerous publications and to facilitate the analysis of available information on tephra layers sourced in Deception Island, we present the DecTephra (Deception Island Tephra Record) database. The current database version contains tephra layers (including cryptotephras) located at sites up to 3,115 km distant from the island. For each tephra layer, the database includes: (i) the location and simple description of the sampling site; and (ii) the key petrologic and geochemical features of each tephra layer. A preliminary analysis of the information contained in the DecTephra database (e.g., magma composition, explosiveness, eruptive recurrence, etc.), validates it as a key tool for evaluating past explosive activity of the volcano., This research was supported by MINECO projects VOLCLIMA (CGL2015-72629-EXP), VOLGASDEC (PGC2018-095693-B-I00) (AEI/FEDER, EU) and the MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 grant HYDROCAL (PID2020-114876GB-I00). (A) Cartoon representation of the structure of the FMDV 3Dpol-3B3 complex from trigonal crystals, space group P3221. 3Dpol is shown in ribbons (yellow) and the VPg3 fragment, bound at the bottom of the palm subdomain, is shown as atom type stick (carbons in white). The corresponding 2Fo-Fc electron density map (1.0σ) is also shown around the 3B3 molecule as a light blue mesh. The proximity of a neighbouring 3Dpol molecule (Grey) in the crystal packing probably limits the 3B molecule from being arranged in an ordered way. (B) The Structure of the EV71-3B in complex with 3Dpol. 3Dpol is shown in orange ribbons and the bound VPg is depicted as atom-type sticks at the bottom of palm sub-domain [11] (PDB id 4IKA). (C) Detail of the interactions in the FMDV 3Dpol-3B3 complex., Peer reviewed

Creating a century-long homogenized near-surface wind speed (WS) observation dataset is essential to improve our knowledge about the uncertainty and causes of WS stilling and recovery. We rescued paper-based WS records dating back to the 1920s at 13 stations in Sweden and established a four-step homogenization procedure to generate the first 10-member centennial homogenized WS dataset (HomogWS-se) for community uses among climatology, ecology, hydrology and energy industry. HomogWS-se can be used to study the WS variability and change, assess climate reanalysis, and constrain climate simulations for better future projection of changes in the WS and wind energy potential. HomogWS-se contains 13 individual text files with 10-member century-long homogenized monthly WS series, as well as the member-mean series., Peer reviewed
