USE OF RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS REGISTRY (ROR) IDENTIFIERS IN AUTHOR ACADEMIC PROFILES: THE CASE OF GOOGLE SCHOLAR PROFILES [DATASET]

  • Orduña-Malena, Enrique
  • Bautista-Puig, Nuria
Document in .xlsx format. Contains 2 sheets. The first, entitled "profiles", has 10 columns (Orcid no.; id; Name; Domain; Citations; Description; Keywords; Field; Gender and Type) and 1032 rows (number of authors' profiles). The second sheet contains the discarded profiles. To protect personal data, Name column data values (Profiles Sheet: C Column; Discarded Sheet: B Column) have been replaced by a correlation number and Citations column data values (Profiles Sheet: E Column; Discarded Sheet: D Column) have been replaced by X value. The purpose of this work is to determine the use of Research Organizations Registry (ROR) IDs in author academic profiles, specifically in Google Scholar Profiles (GSP). To do this, all the Google Scholar profiles including the term ROR in any of the public descriptive fields were collected and analyzed. The results evidence a low use of ROR IDs (1,033 profiles), mainly from a few institutions.

This dataset includes the data obtained from a study carried out from 2019 to 2021 at the Sant Joan de Deu Hospital (Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona). The study analyzes the metagenomics of a set of paediatric patients affected by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). A pilot study of oral and faecal microbiota was proposed with 36 paediatric patients divided in three cohorts (12 with Crohn's Disease (CD), 12 with Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and 12 healthy controls [HC]) with 6 months of follow-up. Finally, 30 participants were included: 13 with CD, 11 with UC and 8 HC (6 dropped out during follow-up). Despite the small size of the study population, a differential pattern of microbial biodiversity was observed between IBD patients and the control group. Twenty-one bacterial species were selected in function of their discriminant accuracy, forming three sets of potential markers of IBD. Although IBD diagnosis requires comprehensive medical evaluation, the findings of this study show that faecal metagenomics or a reduced set of bacterial markers could be useful as a non-invasive tool for an easier and earlier diagnosis.

P. vivax is a major parasite responsible for malaria in humans. While it is well known that pregnant women have an increased risk of P. falciparum infection and disease, less is known on the epidemiology and the impact of P. vivax in pregnancy. We conducted a health-facility based observational study in pregnant women from five endemic countries aimed to determine the burden of P. vivax infection in pregnancy and its impact on the mother and the newborn. We found that the prevalence of P. vivax malaria in pregnant women was overall low across sites, however submicroscopic infections were significantly higher in some areas. Pregnant women with clinical malaria experienced an increased risk of anaemia, which may have an impact on infant health. The results of this study can be useful to guide maternal health programs in settings where vivax malaria is endemic, and they highlight the importance to address a special population such as pregnant women while embracing malaria elimination in endemic countries.

The Corpus Gold Standard TAGFACT v.0.1 is a Spanish corpus manually annotated with factuality information. The corpus consists of 11 news items (basically political), with a total of 5,240 words (approximately 160 sentences) extracted from newspapers. They are all newspapers published in Spain and, predictably, are mostly in peninsular Spanish. The corpus has been manually annotated with information about factuality of 633 predicates. Six linguists worked on it, all of whom had undergone training. The analysis of inter-annotator agreement was made in pairs, a total of 30, and, on average, the result was acceptable. Two XML versions of the Corpus Gold Standard TAGFACT v.0.1 are available. In each one different tagsets (defined with more or less abstraction) have been used, but equivalences have been stablished.

P. vivax infection during pregnancy has been associated with poor outcomes such as anemia, low birth weight and congenital malaria, thus representing an important global health problem. However, no vaccine is currently available for its prevention. Vir genes were the first putative virulent factors associated with P. vivax infections, yet very few studies have examined their potential role as targets of immunity. We investigated the immunogenic properties of five VIR proteins and two long synthetic peptides containing conserved VIR sequences (PvLP1 and PvLP2) in the context of the PregVax cohort study including women from five malaria endemic countries: Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, India and Papua New Guinea (PNG) at different timepoints during and after pregnancy. Antibody responses against all antigens were detected in all populations, with PNG women presenting the highest levels overall. P. vivax infection at sample collection time was positively associated with antibody levels against PvLP1 (fold-increase: 1.60 at recruitment -first antenatal visit-) and PvLP2 (fold-increase: 1.63 at delivery), and P. falciparum co-infection was found to increase those responses (for PvLP1 at recruitment, fold-increase: 2.25). Levels of IgG against two VIR proteins at delivery were associated with higher birth weight (27 g increase per duplicating antibody levels, p<0.5). Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from PNG uninfected pregnant women had significantly higher antigen-specific IFN-g TH1 responses (p=0.006) and secreted less pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF and IL-6 after PvLP2 stimulation than P. vivax-infected women (p<0.5). These data demonstrate that VIR antigens induce the natural acquisition of antibody and T cell memory responses that might be important in immunity to P. vivax during pregnancy in very diverse geographical settings.

DATA OF SIMULATION STUDY FOR PRELIMINARY DETECTION OF PROBLEMATIC ITEMS IN ITEM FACTOR ANALYSIS

  • Ferrando, Pere J.

  • Bargalló-Escrivà, M. Teresa
It was carried out a simulation study that took into account the item properties of extremeness (difficulty, location) and consistency. The background idea is that a scale should be defined by a minimum of five items. In addition, averaged bias and sampling error of the five items were also inspected. Files included in the dataset: Data LINEAL: The items are analysed based on linear factor analysis; Data GRADED: The items are analysed based on no-linear factor analysis
