Background: Protective behavioral strategies (PBS) have been shown to be useful for reducing excessive alcohol use and alcohol-related problems. However, research on the explanatory factors of PBS is limited. This paper prospectively examines the contribution of perceived effi cacy of PBS in reducing alcohol-related consequences and perceived descriptive norms of close peers´ PBS use in young adults. The mediating role of perceived effi cacy of PBS between descriptive norms of PBS use and personal PBS use is also examined. Method: Targeted sampling was used to recruit a community-based sample of 339 young Spanish adults aged 18-25 years, who completed baseline and two-month follow-up questionnaires. Three types of PBS (serious harm reduction-SHR, manner of drinking-MOD, and stopping/limiting drinking-SLD) were measured. Results: Both perceived effi cacy and descriptive norms at baseline were positively associated with personal PBS use (SHR, MOD and SLD) at follow-up. A partial mediation effect of perceived effi cacy between descriptive norms and personal PBS use was found for the three PBS subscales. Conclusions: Our fi ndings support the usefulness of correcting misperceptions of PBS use by peers in interventions aimed at reducing excessive drinking and alcohol-related consequences in young adults in the community. Moreover, PBS perceived effi cacy should be included as a component of these interventions

It is generally recognized that a challenging learning environment with the necessary supports will be stimulating for the student. However, there is a lack of studies that contribute to validate comprehensive models that help teachers to know how to stimulate their students. The objective of this study was to understand the mechanisms that explain the engagement and the positive results of challenging and supportive learning environments. During two academic years, the Sustainable Urban Race (SUR) project was analyzed. In this project, students from secondary schools should design and build an electric vehicle using solar energy. In the present study, an adaptation of the self-system model of motivational development (SSMMD) and a multigroup analysis of structural equations was applied. The data showed a positive association of the challenging and support-enriched context with the students' engagement, being partially mediated by the satisfaction of the competence needs, peer relationships and group autonomy. This study provides a comprehensive approach to develop and assess learning experiences providing inputs that will help teachers and educational managers organize and optimize educational experiences

Background: The conceptualization of substance use disorders (SUDs) was modified in successive editions of the DSM. Dimensionality and inclusion/exclusion of several criteria was studied using various analytic approaches.
Objective: The study aimed to deepen our knowledge of the interrelationships between the diagnostic criteria for cocaine use disorder (CUD), applying three different analytical techniques: factor analysis, Item Response Theory (IRT) models, and network analysis.
Methods: 425 (85.4% male) outpatients were evaluated for CUD using the Substance Dependence Severity Scale. Confirmatory Factor Analysis, 2-parameter logistic model (IRT) and network analysis were applied to analyze the relationships between the diagnostic criteria.
Results: The results show that “legal problems” criterion is not congruent with the CUD measure on three analyses. Also, network analysis suggests the usefulness of the “craving” criterion. The criterion “quit/control” is the one that presents the best centrality indices and expected influence, showing strong relationships with the criteria of “craving,” “tolerance,” “neglect roles” and “activities given up.”
Conclusions: Network analysis appears to be a useful and complementary technique to factor analysis and IRT for understanding CUD. The “quit/control” criterion emerges as a central criterion to understand CUD.

The provided data are the raw or primary data used to create the figures and tables in the article: Valorization of different landrace and commercial sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) straw varieties by anaerobic digestion.-- 2 Excel files, To reduce the impact on the environment and enhance the sustainability of resources, it is necessary to promote and strengthen the use of landrace cultivars that advocate regenerative agriculture. In this study, the growth and development as well as the anaerobic digestion (AD) of six different landrace cultivars, two commercial hybrids cultivars and a public genotype of Sorghum bicolor have been evaluated. The landrace cultivars, in general, presented greater heights, biomass yields and compactness shoots as well as similar or an improvement in grain production compare to the commercial varieties. The AD of the different sorghum straws was performed in batch mode at mesophilic temperature (35°C). The landrace cultivar Zahina (ZH) obtained the highest final methane yield (413 ± 79 NL CH4 kg−1 VS, volatile solids) but the landrace cultivars Zahina gigante (ZHG) and Trigomillo (TG) were the ones that obtained the highest methane per biomass production (13.7 and 12.7 NL CH4 shoot unit−1, respectively). By contrast, the commercial varieties were the ones that obtained the lowest methane yields. Two mathematical models, first-order kinetics and the Transference Function model, were used to fit the experimental data with the aim of describing and simulating the anaerobic biodegradation of these S. bicolor straw varieties and obtaining the kinetic constants. Both models allowed for adequately fitting the experimental results of methane production with time. In particular, the fastest biomethanization occurred using the commercial variety PR88Y20 (PR88) (specific rate constant k = 0.148 ± 0.008 days−1), while the slowest one was obtained from Panizo (PAN) variety (k = 0.064 ± 0.005 days−1). In addition, the highest values of the maximum methane production rate, Rm, were attained for the varieties ZH and PR88, which were 87.1% and 71.3% higher than that achieved for the PAN variety, which exhibited the lowest value., Regional government of Andalucía, Junta de Andalucía, Consejería de Transformación Económica, Industria, Conocimiento y Universidades. Appendix B: CO2 evolution with time for different sensors within the classroom: This appendix provides additional information regarding the differences found between the 17 sensors located in the classroom. B1. Differences in height: In order to facilitate the readability of graphs, the 9 sensors used to ascertain differences in height (H1 to H9, see right side of Figure 2) have been grouped into 3 series representing the average of the 3 sensors at each measuring day. B2. Differences among zones: As for the 11 sensors used to assess differences among room zones (see left side of Figure 2), in this case only the three analyzers with clearer deviations (that is, P1, P2 and T9) will be plotted along with the plane average.-- Under a Creative Commons license cc-by-nc-nd 4.0., This work was conducted in the framework of the ‘Study of measures for prevention of airborne transmission of COVID-19 in schools and public transport in the city of Zaragoza’, in collaboration with the City Council of Zaragoza. The research group is a member of Aireamos, a group created in Spain to promote ventilation and CO2 monitoring as key measures to prevent airborne transmission of COVID-19. The authors would like to warmly thank the teaching staff and the students of CEIP Santo Domingo for their full availability and implication throughout the test campaign., The campaign described in this work consisted in 4 complete school days (10th, 11th, 15th and December 18, 2020). Ambient conditions during the first 3 days were typical of Continental-Mediterranean climate winters (Zaragoza has a Köppen-Geiger climate classification of BSk). Temperature records at the starting of these school days ranged between 6 and 8 °C, steadily increasing until reaching 10–15 °C at the end. By contrast, the fourth day (18th December) was foggy, with considerably lower and more stable temperatures (4–6 °C throughout all the school day). Wind velocities were typically below 10 km/h for all the cases, about half of the historic average in Zaragoza for December (Hernández, 1990). Therefore, velocities were sufficiently low and similar throughout the test period to discard any significant influence of wind on the differences found among the various strategies explored. 17 sensors were located in the classroom., Appendix A: videos showing the spatial and temporal evolution of CO2: First campaign day. Highly stable Cu5 and Ag5 clusters boost the performance of TiO2 as a visible-light photo-active material. The energy harvested from sunlight is temporarily stored in the form of charge pairs in the direct vicinity of the surface, which is a prerequisite for follow-up (photo-)chemistry, inducing visible-light CO2 photo-activation.
