THE REACTION OF SODIUM NITRITE WITH NEUROTRANSMITTERS SECRETED IN THE STOMACH [DATASET]

[EN] Nitroso-compounds are potentially mutagenic and carcinogenic compounds due to their ability to alkylate DNA bases. One of the most common sources of human exposure to nitroso-compounds is their formation in the acidic environment of the stomach by the reaction between electron-rich molecules present in the lumen and sodium nitrite ingested in the diet. To date, the formation of nitroso-compounds by the reaction of nitrite with food components has been investigated in depth, but little attention has been paid to substances secreted in the stomach, such as dopamine or serotonin, whose reaction products with nitrite have proven mutagenic properties. In this article we present a kinetic study with UV-visible spectroscopy of the nitrosation reactions of both molecules, as well as of L-tyrosine, the amino-acid precursor of dopamine. As a result, we have determined their reaction mechanisms, which show that in all of them the favoured reaction product is a stable nitroso-compound and that the molecule whose product is the most mutagenic, serotonin, undergoes two consecutive nitrosation reactions. These findings suggest that more research is needed to understand how this reaction alters the function of these neurotransmitters as well as the potential toxic effects they may have once nitrosated., a) Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad and the European Regional Development Fund.

DID COLLEGE STUDENTS SUFFER STRESS DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN [DATASET]
- Valentín Centeno, Alberto
- López Pérez, María Estrella
- González-Tablas Sastre, María del Mar
- Mateos García, Pedro Manuel
- Gordillo León, Fernando
[EN]Lockdown involves social isolation that can have a negative impact at
the psychological level, which is why several studies have analyzed the
relationship between confinement and possible emotional disorders or
alterations. This study aims to analyze the symptoms of posttraumatic
stress disorder (PTSD) pertaining to stressors that could appear during
the confinement of college students, in addition to their evolution and
the differential effects that contagion might cause to these symptoms.
270 students responded to a survey created specifically for this study.
The survey was administered once a week during the last four weeks of
confinement. The students' responses did not show evidence of PTSD
symptoms. Furthermore, the low frequency and intensity of symptoms
decreases as the weeks of confinement progress. Likewise, infected
students show more symptoms than non-infected students, except in
respect of the stressor Fear of contagion. The confinement experienced
by our students has not been a source of stress. Although this may seem
positive, it also promotes risky behaviors, so it should be considered
important to carry out awareness campaigns in order to promote habits

[EN] The PROPHET project (“PeRsOnalized Prevention roadmap for the future HEalThcare”), funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program, aims to assess the effectiveness, clinical utility, key success factors, and gaps in personalised preventive approaches for healthcare settings. One of the main task focuses on biomarkers for personalised prevention in the general adult population and their integration with digital technologies. The objective of the task is to highlight gaps in biomarkers research for primary and secondary prevention for cancer, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases. Three rapid scoping reviews were conducted in parallel by three research teams, one for each group of diseases: cancer, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. The reviews used a common protocol and framework for searching, data extraction and the representation of results, with disease specific corresponding information and specifications. The following evidence and gap map is a product of these scoping reviews.

EFFECTS OF 700 AND 3500 MHZ 5G RADIOFREQUENCY EXPOSURE ON DEVELOPING ZEBRAFISH EMBRYOS [DATASET]
