Se va a publicar un data paper con esta base de datos, hasta entonces no vamos a publicarla de forma oficial., We present a dataset of 93 acorn batches from 12 European Quercus species on which 8-week germination tests have been carried out. In addtion, seed mass and moisture content were measured. Information on collection locations, methods and dates is provided in order to correctly analyze the data. This database can be used to: (1) analysing the differences between species or populations at acorn/germination level, (2) assess the effect of acorn weight and moisture content on germination probability, (3) contrast the results of seeding in the field with the intrinsic germination capacity of acorns and, therefore, assess the limitation on germination imposed by environmental factors in the field, (4) help estimate the amount of acorns required to obtain a certain number of seedlings for both, direct-seeding operations in the field and sowing in the nursery., This research was funded by grants RESTAURABIEN (RTI2018-096187-J-100) from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities/ FEDER, project TRANS-ECO (TED2021-130976B-100) from Ministry of Science and Innovation/ NextGeneration, the PEN-CAFoRR (Pan-European Network for Climate Adaptive Forest Restoration and Reforestation) COST Action (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) and local funders for the fieldwork of each co-author.

DATA ON INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES AND PREFERENCE VOTING IN PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN LUXEMBOURG AND SWITZERLAND (2013-2023)

  • Ortega Villodres, Carmen
  • Oñate, Pablo
The datasets contain data on the profile of individual candidates and their electoral success in the last three partliamentary elections in Lusembourg (2013, 2018 and 2023) and the last three elections to the National Council in Switzerland (2015, 2019 and 2023). The data were obtained mainly from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office and other internet resources. The unit of analysis is the individual candidate, and only candidates from parties that were awarded at least one seat in one of the three elections in each country were included (Tables A1 and A2 in the appendix). The total number of cases was 1,260 (420 in each election) in Luxembourg and 11,983 in Switzerland (3,200, 3,827, and 4,956 in each election, respectively)

This research has been supported by the Governments of Spain and Andalusia, and the EU’s European Regional Development Fund (Research Projects C-SEJ-148-UGR23 and FPU19/02014). INVESTIGATING VULNERABILITY OF THE CONSERVED SARS-COV-2 SPIKE'S HEPTAD REPEAT 2 AS TARGET FOR FUSION INHIBITORS USING CHIMERIC MINIPROTEINS

Inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 membrane fusion is a highly desired target to combat COVID-19. The interaction between the spike's heptad repeat (HR) regions 1 (HR1) and 2 (HR2) is a crucial step during the fusion process and these highly conserved HR regions constitute attractive targets for fusion inhibitors. However, the relative importance of each subregion of the long HR1-HR2 interface for viral inhibition remains unclear. Here, we designed, produced, and characterized a series of chimeric miniproteins that mimic two different half subdomains of HR1. The proteins were designed as single polypeptide chains that spontaneously fold into antiparallel trimeric helical bundles aimed at structurally imitate the molecular surface of each HR1 half subregion. All the miniproteins folded stably as helical structures and could bind complementary HR2 peptides with moderate affinity. However, only the miniproteins mimicking the N-terminal HR1 half subdomain, but not those imitating C-terminal one, could inhibit cell infection by SARS-COV-2 real viruses in cell cultures. Most interestingly, the inhibitory activity of the miniproteins correlated with their structural stability, but not with their relative binding affinity for HR2 peptides. These results are highly relevant for designing more focused and active fusion inhibitors targeting the highly conserved HR2 region of the Spike., Departamento de Química Física, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de Granada.
