Erasing memories of cocaine-stimuli associations might have important clinical implications for addiction therapy. Stimulating hippocampal plasticity by enhancing adult hippocampal neurogenesis (AHN) is a promising strategy because the addition of new neurons may not only facilitate new learning but also modify previous connections and weaken retrograde memories. To investigate whether increasing AHN prompted the forgetting of previous contextual cocaine associations, mice trained in a cocaine-induced conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm were administered chronic intracerebroventricular infusions of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA, an endogenous lysophospholipid with pro-neurogenic actions), ki16425 (an LPA1/3 receptor antagonist) or a vehicle solution, and they were tested 23 days later for CPP retention and extinction. The results of immunohistochemical experiments showed that the LPA-treated mice exhibited reduced long-term CPP retention and an approximately twofold increase in the number of adult-born hippocampal cells that differentiated into mature neurons. Importantly, mediation analyses confirmed a causal role of AHN in reducing CPP maintenance. In contrast, the ki16425-treated mice displayed aberrant responses, with initially decreased CPP retention that progressively increased across the extinction sessions, leading to no effect on AHN. The pharmacological treatments did not affect locomotion or general exploratory or anxiety-like responses. In a second experiment, normal and LPA1 -receptor-deficient mice were acutely infused with LPA, which revealed that LPA1 -mediated signaling was required for LPA-induced proliferative actions. These results suggest that the LPA/LPA1 pathway acts as a potent in vivo modulator of AHN and highlight the potential usefulness of pro-AHN strategies to treat aberrant cognition in those addicted to cocaine., This study was funded by grants from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (Agencia Estatal de Investigación), which is co-funded by the European Research Development Fund (AEI/FEDER, UE) (PSI2013-44901-P and PSI2017-82604-R to L.J.S. and PSI2015-73156-JIN to E.C.O.); by the National System of Health-Instituto de Salud Carlos III, which is co-funded by AEI/FEDER, UE (Red de Trastornos Adictivos; RD16/0017/0001 to F.R.d.F.); and by the Andalusian R&D&I Programme, Regional Ministry of Economy and Knowledge (PAIDI CTS643 to G.E.T.).

This research explored the relationship between family and school factors, emotional intelligence facets, and cyberbullying roles in a sample of 2,883 adolescents (aged 12–18; M = 14.11, SD = 1.42). Findings from logistic regression revealed shared factors associated with cybervictims, cyberbullies, and cyberbully-victims, including lower use of emotion, higher family conflict, and reduced teacher support. Lower emotion regulation and weaker family cohesion were linked to cyberbully-victim and cyberbully roles, while self-emotion appraisal was relevant for cyberbullies, and other-emotion appraisal was significant for cybervictims. Furthermore, student support was particularly significant for cybervictims. These results underscore the importance of reducing family conflict, enhancing teacher support, and promoting emotional intelligence as preventive measures against cyberbullying. Implications for family and school-based interventions are discussed., This research was partially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (R+D+i project PID2020-117006RB-I00), and the PAIDI Group CTS-1048 (Junta de Andalucía). The excessive usage of social networking sites might affect adolescents’ well-being. Recent studies have found significant associations between problematic social media use (PSMU) and psychological maladjustment. The present study aimed at analyzing gender differences in the percentages of high-risk PSMU and to investigate the relations with the emotional intelligence (EI) of adolescents. The sample was composed of 597 adolescents (58.8 % girls, 45.2 % boys) within the ages of 12 and 19. Participants completed self-report questionnaires of EI (WLEIS) and PSMU (BSMAS). Results indicate that girls had higher high-risk percentages of PSMU (17.7 %) than boys (13.4 %). Furthermore, boys had higher levels of self-emotion appraisal, regulation of emotions and global EI, while girls had higher levels of other-emotion appraisal. Nonetheless, when correlational analyses were divided by gender, only in girls there was a significant and negative association between PSMU and self-emotion appraisal, use of emotions, regulation of emotions and global EI. Results indicate that the higher risk of PSMU found in girls could be related to their lower levels of self-emotion appraisal, regulation of emotions and global EI. The findings highlight the importance of designing gender sensitive PSMU prevention strategies., Universidad de Málaga (PPIT.UMA.A2.2019) Grupo PAIDI Applied Positive Lab CTS-1048 (Junta de Andalucía) Proyecto I+D+i del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación de España (PID2020-117006RB-I00) Fondos FEDER/Junta de Andalucía (UMA 18-FEDERJA-147)

A growing number of studies have tested the relationship between personal resources (e.g., emotional intelligence) and indicators of occupational well-being, including work engagement. However, few have examined health-related factors moderating or mediating the pathway from emotional intelligence to work engagement. A better knowledge of this area would contribute substantially to the design of effective intervention strategies. The present study’s main goal was to test the mediating and moderating role of perceived stress in the association between emotional intelligence and work engagement. The participants comprised 1166 Spanish teaching professionals (744 of whom were female and 537 worked as secondary teachers; Mage = 44.28 years). The results showed that perceived stress partially mediated the link between emotional intelligence and work engagement. Moreover, the positive relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement was strengthened among individuals who scored high in perceived stress. The results suggest that multifaceted interventions targeting stress management and emotional intelligence development may facilitate engagement in emotionally demanding occupations such as teaching., -Universidad de Málaga -Junta de Andalucía (UMA18-FEDERJA-147) -Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (PID2020-117006RB-I00) -Grupo PAIDI CTS-1048 de la Junta de Andalucía

"Replication Data for: Rational Voting Behavior Accounting for Heterogeneous Ballots in British Elections", Harvard Dataverse, V1. https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/AV8RZI, The most analyzed choice situation by electoral researchers is at the ballot box. In partially-contested elections, such as in Britain or Spain, voters cannot vote for all parties in every region or constituency. We present a modeling approach to study rational voting behavior that integrates such heterogeneous ballots and takes voting for the numerous parties therein seriously. DATASET FOR: UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF EMOTION REGULATION STRATEGIES IN CYBERVICTIMIZATION AND CYBERAGGRESSION OVER TIME: IT IS BASICALLY YOUR FAULT

Adolescents involved in experiences of cybervictimization and cyberbullying are at increased risk of psychological maladjustment and ill-being. However, not all adolescents involved in cyberbullying roles experience similar consequences and cognitive emotion regulation (CER) might be a key factor. Despite growing interest in the role CER strategies play in cyberbullying behaviours, little is known about the predictive utility of these strategies in predicting cybervictimization and cyberbullying over time. Therefore, the aim of this prospective study was to test the incremental predictive validity of specific CER strategies in cybervictimization and cyberbullying in a sample of adolescents. To this end, data were collected in two waves four months apart from a sample of 841 adolescents (466 females) aged 12 to 18 (MageT1 = 13.77, SDT1 = 1.34; MageT2 = 13.71, SDT2 = 1.31). Participants filled out a set of questionnaires measuring cybervictimization, cyberbullying, and CER strategies. Main results showed blaming others as the unique strategy showing incremental predictive value to both cybervictimization and cyberbullying four months later, above and beyond previous cybervictimization and cyberbullying experiences. Overall, the results highlighted the need to account for CER strategies, such as blaming others, in relation to the potential initiation and development of cyberbullying and cybervictimization behaviours. These findings suggest possible future avenues for intervention efforts targeting the maintenance of online aggressive behaviours and victimization across time., Proyecto I+D+i del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación de España (PID2020-117006RB-I00) Contrato posdoctoral de la Agencia Estatal de Investigación, Ministerio Ciencia e Innovación de España (FJC2019-038942-I/AEI/10.13039/501100011033) Universidad de Málaga Grupo PAIDI Applied Positive Lab CTS-1048 (Junta de Andalucía)

College students, particularly those in healthcare fields, face an elevated risk of suicidal ideation and depression. Therefore, it is essential to explore how both actual and perceived emotional resources may play a role in suicide prevention within this age group. This study examined (1) whether actual self-focused emotion-regulation ability diminishes suicidal ideation through a decrease in depressive symptoms, and (2) whether perceived self-emotion appraisal moderates this relationship. In 312 healthcare students (209 women) actual self- focused emotion-regulation ability was negatively related to suicidal ideation through depressive symptoms. Furthermore, perceived self-emotion appraisal buffered the relation- ship between depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation. Findings suggest that perceived self-emotion appraisal may reinforce the adaptiveness of actual self-focused emotion-regulation ability as a protective factor for psychological maladjustment. The results indicate the collaborative ability to regulate one’s emotions coupled with the self-perception of emotion appraisal could effectively alleviate the potential progression of emotional difficulties among healthcare students., Proyecto I+D+i del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación de España (PID2020-117006RB-I00) Grupo PAIDI Applied Positive Lab CTS-1048 (Junta de Andalucía) Universidad de Málaga Ayuda postdoctoral de la Junta de Andalucía (POSTDOC_21_ 00364)

DATASET FOR: WHAT BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND SUICIDE RISK IN VICTIMS OF BULLYING? A MODERATED MEDIATION STUDY.

Background: Recent research has demonstrated that victims of bullying report serious problems, such as de- pression, which heighten the risk of suicide. Emotional intelligence (EI) has been increasingly recognized as a protective factor, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying the relation between EI and suicide risk in victims. This study aimed to test a theoretical model of how EI, depressive symptoms and gender interact to influence suicidal ideation and attempts in a sample of Spanish victims of bullying. Methods: The sample comprised 465 victims (273 girls) who completed self-report measures of perceived EI, depression and suicide risk. Results: Mediation and moderation analyses were performed using conditional process analysis. Findings showed that EI is a predictor of decreased suicide in victims. This relationship was partially mediated by de- pressive symptoms. Furthermore, this effect was moderated by gender, such that the mediation effect was stronger in girls compared to boys (moderated mediation). Limitations: The cross-sectional design and the use of self-report instruments. Future research should address the longitudinal relations of these findings. Conclusions: The promotion of emotional skills could be core to the development of suicide prevention programs in those high-risk adolescents who have suffered from bullying. Furthermore, gender should be taken into consideration, especially with regard to females reporting depressive symptoms related to having been bullied., Universidad de Málaga (PPIT.UMA.B1.2017/23) y el grupo PAIDI Applied Positive Lab (CTS-1048) (Junta de Andalucía)
