Cannibalism by adults of conspecific juveniles has been reported in wild populations of common chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon). In view of this cannibalistic behaviour by adults, we hypothesise that juvenile chameleons should select nocturnal perches with distinct characteristics from those chosen by adults, thus avoiding them. To test this hypothesis, we examined nocturnal perch selection by adults and juveniles over seven months of field monitoring of a chameleon population in southern Iberia. Our results support the hypothesis of cannibalism as a selective force leading to differential habitat use by juveniles and adults because juveniles select unstable perches that are inaccessible to adults and avoid spatial overlap with adults, including sharing the same plant foot. The database is structured in six fields describing the following information about each common chameleon found: date, type of plant, branch diameter (mm) and height (cm) on which the individual was found, weight (g) and age (juvenile/adult)., N/A

Background and Objectives: This exploratory study aimed to test the buffering effect of emotional intelligence in the associations between aggression against teachers, perceived stress, and withdrawal intentions. Design and Methods: A sample of 329 secondary school teachers (51.4% female) completed questionnaires assessing aggression against teachers, perceived stress, withdrawal intentions, and emotional intelligence. Results: The results showed that emotional intelligence was negatively related to perceived stress and withdrawal intentions. Across moderated-mediation analysis, there were mixed findings regarding the moderating effects of emotional intelligence in the proposed model. Findings indicated that emotional intelligence moderated only the association between perceived stress and withdrawal intentions. Conclusions: These findings suggest that emotional intelligence is a psychological resource for mitigating the negative effects of perceived stress on negative work attitudes among teaching professionals in the context of harmful student behaviors. Possible avenues for including emotional intelligence in the field of teacher victimization are discussed., -Ayuda predoctoral del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte (FPU16/02238) -Universidad de Málaga y Junta de Andalucía (UMA18-FEDERJA-147) -Grupo PAIDI CTS-1048 de la Junta de Andalucía

Risk perception is a cognitive process that relies on each person's information, about different issues such as contexts, other people, objects, and which is processed immediately, organising a judgement or value that will condition their behaviour. The aim of this study is to carry out an exhaustive analysis of the psychometric properties of the COVID-19 Pandemic Risk Perception Scale (PRPS). The sample was 405 healthcare professionals ranged between 22 and 65 years, belonging to the hospital emergency services and the critical care unit in southern Spain. A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out. In order to obtain evidence of validity based on the internal structure of PRPS, we conducted a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). A reliability analysis was performed, calculating the McDonald’s omega coefficient (ω), and an item analysis was also performed, calculating the corrected item-total correlation coefficient. Finally, evidence of validity based on the relationship with other variables was obtained. The results of the CFA supported a unidimensional structure of the PRPS. The reliability of the test scores was .95. Evidence of validity was provided by a positive correlation between the PRPS score and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and by a negative correlation between the PRPS score and the reduced version of the Spanish adaptation of the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS). The results indicate that the Pandemic Risk Perception Scale (PRPS) has shown adequate psychometric properties, which makes it a useful instrument in the context of health professionals, postulated as an easy and brief tool to complete., Sin financiación.

DATASET FOR: HOW DOES EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE HELP TEACHERS TO STAY ENGAGED? CROSS-VALIDATION OF A MODERATED MEDIATION MODEL.

DATASET_TEACHERS_DEMANDS_ENGAGEMENT.

This study used job demands–resources and emotional intelligence theories to test a moderated mediation model explaining work engagement in two independent teacher samples. We hypothesised that emotional intelligence buffers the effect of emotional demands on work engagement through self-appraised stress. Childhood and primary educators (sample 1, N=351) and secondary educators (sample 2, N=344) participated in the study. Although emotional intelligence did not moderate the relationship between emotional demands and self-ap- praised stress, it did buffer the relationship between self-appraised stress and work engagement in both teacher samples. The findings suggest that emotional intelligence has a specific buffering effect affecting intrapersonal and interpersonal processes. We discuss the implications of these findings for efforts to help teachers deal with the detrimental effects of stress on work engagement., Ayuda predoctoral del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte (FPU16/02238) Universidad de Málaga

The current study examined the roles of dark triad traits, general moral disengagement, and facets of emotional intelligence in bullying and cyberbullying behaviors. A sample of 1,146 (580 girls) adolescents (Mage = 14.19; SD = 1.60) from six high schools participated. Hierarchical regression analyses were used to exploratorily analyze the aforementioned factors. The results revealed that psychopathology, Machiavellianism, and moral disengagement were significantly associated with both bullying and cyberbullying behaviors. Even after accounting for those contributors, the regulation of emotion facet was found to explain a significant amount of unique variance in both aggressive phenomena. The findings of the present study suggest that beyond psychopathology, Machiavellianism, and moral disengagement, the regulation of emotion still matters in preventing cyberbullying aggression in both online and virtual contexts. Identifying and targeting a lack of emotion regulation, even in adolescents with a dark personality and morally disengaged profile, may be important for the prevention of bullying and cyberbullying., Esta base de datos es parte del proyecto de I+D+i PID2020-117006RB-I00, financiado por MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/, el grupo PAIDI Applied Positive Lab (CTS-1048) (Junta de Andalucía), de la Junta de Andalucía con el contrato posdoctoral “Talento Doctores” [POSTDOC_21_00364] y la Universidad de Málaga
