REPLICATION DATA FOR: LEFT-WING GOVERNMENTS AND FAR-RIGHT SUCCESS
- Falcó-Gimeno, Albert

- Wagner, Marcus
In recent decades, support for the far right has surged in many countries. One common explanation for this success is that far-right support is a backlash against left-wing governments and the policies they implement. In this paper, we investigate the causal effect of the partisan make-up of governments on the electoral results of far-right parties. Evidence from over-time comparative data and a quasi-experimental analysis based on a regression discontinuity design in Spain indicates that far-right parties benefit electorally when the current government is on the left. In further analyses, we employ a novel RDD-based sampling strategy to examine original individual-level survey data from Spanish municipalities close to the discontinuity cutoff. These data show that the likely mechanism underlying the backlash effect is an ideological shift to the right among the electorate when left-wing parties are in power. Overall, our findings show that the far-right benefits more when the mainstream left governs than when the mainstream right does., Peer reviewed

Electrochemical performance of coal-based and bio-based carbon supercapacitor electrodes in 1M TEABF4 in acetonitrile electrolyte reported in the literature. The specific electrode capacitance (Ce), specific energy (E), and specific power (P) (unless otherwise specified) are reported at 0.5 A·g-1. The names of the samples correspond to their original names. NB: The electrochemical data presented here are taken from the original publications. Different testing parameters may influence the reported values. Therefore, any direct quantitative comparison should be interpreted with caution. Figure 5e and 5g provide additional context by showing the performance trends of our materials across different current densities and by comparing the maximum energy and power densities, thereby enabling a more comprehensive interpretation of the data. Figure S4. Cyclic voltammetry curves at 5 mV s-1 for (a) AC-1; (b) AC-2; (c) AC-3; and (d) YP-50F at -25, 0, 20 and 45 °C. Figure S5. Cyclic voltammetry curves at 500 mV s-1 for (a) AC-1; (b) AC-2; (c) AC-3; (d) AC-4; and (e) YP-50F. Figure S6. Specific gravimetric capacitance as a function of scan rate for: (a) AC-1; (b) AC-2; (c) AC-3; (d) AC-4; and (e) YP-50F at -25, 0, 20 and 45 °C. Figure S7. Nyquist plot of: (a) AC-1; (b) AC-2; (c) AC-3; and (d) YP-50F at -25, 0, 20 and 45 °C.
For sample AC-1 at 0 °C, a secondary semicircle appears in the Nyquist plot. This feature may be associated with slight loosening of the device or electrode displacement, leading to a parasitic interfacial response, as this behavior has not been reproduced in other samples or at other temperatures [9]. Aside from this particular feature, the sample follows the general trend observed for the other specimens., This research was funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) through the “CarBioLab” project, as part of the LabCom “Joint Laboratories” program, 2021 edition (ANR 21-LCV3-0001)., Peer reviewed

HIDDEN DIVERSITY IN EUROPE: NEW SPECIES AND A REVISED TAXONOMY OF THE SUBGENUS LEPTOCONOPS (LEPTOCONOPS) (DIPTERA, CERATOPOGONIDAE) [DATASET]

The Ceratopogonidae (Diptera, Nematocera) is a highly diverse family of insects inhabiting a wide range of habitat types that is only absent from polar regions and remote islands. Despite this broad diversity, scientific knowledge of this family remains incomplete, including the genus Leptoconops Skuse, 1889. Although several Leptoconops species have been reported from Europe, no detailed study has yet been conducted to resolve the taxonomy of this genus and clarify species occurrence. Here, the first comprehensive study of Leptoconops diversity in southwest Spain is provided based on extensive sampling conducted in 2023-2024. In total, eight Leptoconops species were collected using carbon-dioxide suction traps: Leptoconops (Leptoconops) noei Clastrier & Coluzzi, 1973, Leptoconops (Leptoconops) irritans Noé, 1905, and four new species: Leptoconops (Leptoconops) nigrithorax González & Tanase, sp. nov., Leptoconops (Leptoconops) triangularis González & Tanase, sp. nov., Leptoconops (Leptoconops) pseudoirritans González & Tanase, sp. nov., and Leptoconops (Leptoconops) communis González & Tanase, sp. nov. Additionally, Leptoconops (Leptoconops) bidentatus Gutsevich, 1960, was recorded for the first time from the Iberian Peninsula. One species of the subgenus Holoconops: Leptoconops (Holoconops) cf. kerteszi Kieffer, 1908, was also identified. Molecular support for the morphological identification is provided using COX1 barcode sequences. A brief review of Leptoconops species occurrence in Europe is also included, with detailed morphological descriptions supported by high-quality images of the newly described species, and a complete identification key for dry-preserved and slide-mounted adult females of the subgenus L. (Leptoconops)., Peer reviewed

NESTS IN TREES ARE AS GOOD AS OR BETTER THAN CLIFFS FOR TWO FORMERLY PERSECUTED, PRIMARILY CLIFF NESTING EAGLES IN SPAIN: A CAUTIONARY TALE IN DEFINING THE HABITAT OF RANGE-RESTRICTED OR THREATENED SPECIES

This dataset contains long-term monitoring data of breeding territories of Bonelli’s Eagle (Aquila fasciata) and Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) in the Betic mountain ranges (southern Spain) collected between 1980 and 2020., Data include territory identity, annual occupancy, nesting substrate, reproductive performance, and spatial coordinates. Monitoring was conducted using standardized field protocols across decades, providing one of the longest continuous datasets available for large raptors in Europe., The dataset supports analyses presented in:

This repository contains the cleaned dataset and R scripts necessary to reproduce the analyses presented in the study "Human disturbance, prey availability and refuge cover shape wolf movements in anthropized landscapes", accepted in Behavioral Ecology., The dataset includes processed movement data of wolves in human-dominated landscapes, specifically prepared for the analysis of daily movement patterns. It contains descriptive variables and environmental predictors used in the statistical models, but does not include sensitive information such as raw GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude) of wolf locations, in compliance with Spanish legislation protecting this endangered species (Spanish Royal Decree 139/2011 and Ministerial Order TED/980/2021). Raw data supporting the findings of this study are available upon request from A.RE.NA. Asesores en Recursos Naturales, S.L., but are not publicly available due to their sensitive nature, as they contain precise locations of wolves and packs., Junta de Andalucía Predoctoral Research Grant PREDOC_01122; Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas 202130E006; Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades
