Background: Helping people recover from aphasia is among the top 10 research priorities relating to life after stroke.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the feasibility of dubbing techniques (using newly developed software) for post-stroke aphasia therapy and explore its potential efficacy.
Methods: Randomised, crossover, interventional, feasibility trial that included patients with chronic post-stroke non-fluent aphasia. The intervention consisted of an individualised programme (16 sessions; 8 weeks) based on dubbing words and sentences progressively adapted to the severity of the aphasia. Patients were allocated to groups that underwent therapy within the first 3 months, or between 3 and 6 months from inclusion, each group serving as the control during the non therapy periods. Outcomes were the pre-post differences in the Communicative Activity Log, the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination, the General Health Questionnaire-12, the Stroke Aphasia Quality of Life Scale, and the Western Aphasia Battery Revised, administered by psychologists blinded to the patients’ allocation.
Results: Recruitment was limited due to COVID-19 and prematurely stopped because of funding coming to an end. A total of 23 patients were randomised, 20 of whom completed the study (1 withdrew consent, and 2 dropped out). The adherence rate to the allocated group was 95.3%. No statistically significant differences were found in any of the outcomes; however, 17 (85%) patients reported subjective improvements in communication skills.
Conclusions: This trial shows the feasibility of dubbing therapy (using dedicated software) for patients with post-stroke non-fluent aphasia. Although it lacks statistical power, certain effects on language and communication cannot be ignored.

A SCAN TEST FOR SPATIAL GROUPWISE HETEROSCEDASTICITY IN CROSS-SECTIONAL MODELS WITH AN APPLICATION ON HOUSES PRICES IN MADRID [DATASET & CODE] [DATASET]
- Chasco, Coro
- López Hernández, Fernando Antonio
- Le Gallo, Julie
We propose a scan test for the presence of spatial groupwise heteroskedasticity in cross-sectional data. The scan approach has been used in different fields before, including spatial econometric models, to detect instability in mean values of variables or regression residuals. In this paper, we extend its use to second order moments. Using large Monte Carlo simulations, we check the reliability of the proposed scan procedure to detect instabilities in the variance, the size and power of the test and its accuracy to find spatial clusters of observations with similar variances. Finally, we illustrate the usefulness of this test to improve the specification search in a spatial hedonic model, with an empirical application on housing prices in Madrid. | How to cite the database (APA style): Chasco, C.; Le Gallo, J. & López, FF. Dataset of 400 pomegranate tree (Punica granatum L. ‘Wonderful’) images, with the corresponding fruit masks. The dataset is designed for training artificial intelligence models for instance segmentation. The pictures were collected by means of mobile devices (smartphones), in random trees, from different distances, orientations and in varying lighting conditions. The resolution of the images and masks is 640x480 pixels. The dataset is divided into training (70%), validation (15%) and test set (15%). Stratification was performed in 3 periods of the season to ensure that all fruit ripening stages were present in each subset. Masks consist of a very detailed manual annotation of the visible part for each of the fruits in the images.

DATA SET FOR ARTICLE "ARTICLE: BARRIERS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE FARMING PRACTICES IN MEDITERRANEAN TREE ORCHARDS" [DATASET]

This study identifies, through consultation with relevant stakeholders, low-input farming practices that can help to minimize the most pressing agronomic and environmental problems in some of the most relevant Mediterranean woody crops in Spain (almond, citrus, and olive) and enhance their sustainability. The results illustrate stakeholders’ perception regarding how each cropping system could be oriented towards a more sustainable production. Despite each case study’s particularities, there is consensus in the need for a shift towards the use of organic fertilizers, the maintenance of vegetation in the edges of plots and the use of integrated pest control strategies. On the contrary, stakeholders have selected different tillage and soil cover practices that are consistent with the characteristics and problems of each cropping system. This study also identifies relevant strengths and drawbacks for the implementation of low-input agricultural practices in each crop and study area. While stakeholders find the identified low-impact farming practices as easy and not costly, suggesting a significant potential for their successful implementation, the results also point out at the reduced knowledge of the practical benefits of some farming practices and the need for improved technical advice to foster the adoption of others.

COUDLABS_WP8_T811_UDC_002 APPLICATION OF IMAGING VELOCIMETRY TECHNIQUES FOR URBAN DRAINAGE APPLICATIONS [DATASET]
- Naves, Juan
- Anta, Jose
- Carreres Prieto, Daniel
This dataset includes the data obtained during the installation of a camera system and development of a LSPIV methodology to determine the velocities of runoff generated in the BLOCK rainfall simulator located at the Universidade da Coruña. The dataset consists of raw and processed images and surface velocity maps obtained during the assessment of the full process. This data will help to improve and assess imaging techniques in urban environments with the presence of realistic rain, and test new preprocessing and postprocessing methods to optimize the different processes. This dataset is a result from the Joint Research Activity 3 (WP8, Improving Resilience and Sustainability in Urban Drainage solutions), Task 8.1.1. (Development of Scalable Hydrodynamic Performance Protocols.) within Co-UDlabs project, funded under the European Union s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101008626.

DATA ON SOIL PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES IN TOPSOIL AND SUBSOIL OF A MEDITERRANEAN IRRIGATED ORCHARD [DATASET]

Data on an experiment to find out the interconnections between soil physicochemical properties and the microbial communities residing in the topsoil and the subsoil of irrigated orchards under a semiarid Mediterranean climate. We collected soil samples from two depths, topsoil (0-10 cm) and subsoil (30-50 cm), noting elevated salinity levels in the topsoil due to irrigation practices. Utilizing high-throughput 16S rRNA gene and ITS1 region amplicon sequencing, we characterized the bacterial and fungal communities across these two depths.
