DATASET HIPPOCAMPAL PROTEOMICS IN A MICE MODEL OF EARLY LIFE ADVERSITY IN COMBINATION WITH A SECOND ACUTE STRESS IN ADULTHOOD.
HIPPOCAMPAL PROTEOMICS IN ELA MODEL: MATERNAL SEPARATION + RESTRICTION STRESS
- Muñoz-Martín, José
- Pérez-Martín, Margarita
- Pedraza-Benítez, María del Carmen
The raw dataset as well as the refined comparisons among experimental conditions are distributed in one EXCEL file (hippocampal_proteomics_results_MSJUL22.xlsx). Volcano plots for every comparison can also be found distributed in the pdf file (volcano_plots_hippocampal_proteomics_MSJUL22.pdf)., Proteomic analysis was performed on left hippocampal tissue from C57BL/6J mice subjected to maternal separation during infancy (MS), acute restriction stress in adulthood (RS), or combined MS+RS, compared to controls (CTRL). N=5-6 per group, males and females separately. Hippocampi were collected 24h post RS stress (P62-P65), homogenized in RIPA buffer, quantified by BCA, and digested via gel-assisted proteolysis with trypsin. Samples underwent UHPLC-HRMS on a Q-Exactive HF-X , acquiring MS/MS spectra (SCAI-Universidad de Málaga). Raw data were searched in Proteome Discoverer 2.5 against Mus musculus UniProt (2025-02), yielding 2,895 high-confidence proteins (FDR<1%, ≥2 peptides, master proteins). Label-free quantification used precursor intensities, normalized by total peptide amount; ANOVA identified upregulated (p<0.05, log2 FC≥1) and downregulated proteins (p<0.05, log2FC ≤-1) in the following comparisons: RS vs CTRL, MS vs CTRL, MS+RS vs CTRL, RS vs MS+RS, MS vs MS+RS (males and females, separately). Raw proteomic data as well as volcano plots are distributed in RIUMA (Universidad de Málaga)., Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (MCIN) de España y Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI): MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033, Consejería de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación de la Junta de Andalucía.

The dataset's structure and preliminary behavioral analyses are detailed, and specialized visualization methods illustrate how different presentation modalities influence cross-modal affective perception. Cortical analyses reveal increased power in parieto-occipital and temporal regions, which are known to mediate visual-emotional processing and multisensory integration, thereby corroborating established neurophysiological findings. The audiovisual condition produced superadditive cortical activation relative to a synthetic additive baseline, confirming genuine multisensory convergence. Overall, this dataset offers a robust large-scale baseline that researchers can employ to evaluate computational emotion models and to advance affective neuroscience using authentic artistic stimuli.
The dataset can be downloaded from the following link: http://u.uma.es/h3S/EEG_ART_dataset, This open-access electroencephalography (EEG) dataset is designed to examine how artistic stimuli elicit emotional responses. The experimental protocol involved 20 artworks selected by domain experts and presented in three modalities (visual, auditory, and audiovisual) to systematically vary sensory input. The stimuli were chosen to cover a broad range of valence-arousal coordinates within Russell’s circumplex model, resulting in 60 distinct trials that included authentic pieces of art and musical pieces. High-density 64-channel EEG data were collected from 65 healthy participants, who also reported the discrete emotions they felt and rated the intensity of each experience after every trial., MCIU/AEI, FEDER, UE

This research explored the relationship between family and school factors, emotional intelligence facets, and cyberbullying roles in a sample of 2,883 adolescents (aged 12–18; M = 14.11, SD = 1.42). Findings from logistic regression revealed shared factors associated with cybervictims, cyberbullies, and cyberbully-victims, including lower use of emotion, higher family conflict, and reduced teacher support. Lower emotion regulation and weaker family cohesion were linked to cyberbully-victim and cyberbully roles, while self-emotion appraisal was relevant for cyberbullies, and other-emotion appraisal was significant for cybervictims. Furthermore, student support was particularly significant for cybervictims. These results underscore the importance of reducing family conflict, enhancing teacher support, and promoting emotional intelligence as preventive measures against cyberbullying. Implications for family and school-based interventions are discussed., This research was partially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (R+D+i project PID2020-117006RB-I00), and the PAIDI Group CTS-1048 (Junta de Andalucía).
- Arrivillaga, Christiane
- Rey-Peña, Lourdes
- Extremera-Pacheco, Natalio
The excessive usage of social networking sites might affect adolescents’ well-being. Recent studies have found significant associations between problematic social media use (PSMU) and psychological maladjustment. The present study aimed at analyzing gender differences in the percentages of high-risk PSMU and to investigate the relations with the emotional intelligence (EI) of adolescents. The sample was composed of 597 adolescents (58.8 % girls, 45.2 % boys) within the ages of 12 and 19. Participants completed self-report questionnaires of EI (WLEIS) and PSMU (BSMAS). Results indicate that girls had higher high-risk percentages of PSMU (17.7 %) than boys (13.4 %). Furthermore, boys had higher levels of self-emotion appraisal, regulation of emotions and global EI, while girls had higher levels of other-emotion appraisal. Nonetheless, when correlational analyses were divided by gender, only in girls there was a significant and negative association between PSMU and self-emotion appraisal, use of emotions, regulation of emotions and global EI. Results indicate that the higher risk of PSMU found in girls could be related to their lower levels of self-emotion appraisal, regulation of emotions and global EI. The findings highlight the importance of designing gender sensitive PSMU prevention strategies., Universidad de Málaga (PPIT.UMA.A2.2019)

A growing number of studies have tested the relationship between personal resources (e.g., emotional intelligence) and indicators of occupational well-being, including work engagement. However, few have examined health-related factors moderating or mediating the pathway from emotional intelligence to work engagement. A better knowledge of this area would contribute substantially to the design of effective intervention strategies. The present study’s main goal was to test the mediating and moderating role of perceived stress in the association between emotional intelligence and work engagement. The participants comprised 1166 Spanish teaching professionals (744 of whom were female and 537 worked as secondary teachers; Mage = 44.28 years). The results showed that perceived stress partially mediated the link between emotional intelligence and work engagement. Moreover, the positive relationship between emotional intelligence and work engagement was strengthened among individuals who scored high in perceived stress. The results suggest that multifaceted interventions targeting stress management and emotional intelligence development may facilitate engagement in emotionally demanding occupations such as teaching., -Universidad de Málaga
