Cannibalism by adults of conspecific juveniles has been reported in wild populations of common chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon). In view of this cannibalistic behaviour by adults, we hypothesise that juvenile chameleons should select nocturnal perches with distinct characteristics from those chosen by adults, thus avoiding them. To test this hypothesis, we examined nocturnal perch selection by adults and juveniles over seven months of field monitoring of a chameleon population in southern Iberia. Our results support the hypothesis of cannibalism as a selective force leading to differential habitat use by juveniles and adults because juveniles select unstable perches that are inaccessible to adults and avoid spatial overlap with adults, including sharing the same plant foot. The database is structured in six fields describing the following information about each common chameleon found: date, type of plant, branch diameter (mm) and height (cm) on which the individual was found, weight (g) and age (juvenile/adult)., N/A

This dataset supports the study of startle-related physiological responses during walking using a wireless smart assistive cane equipped with a Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) sensor. Data were collected from 22 healthy participants walking through university areas while exposed to sudden auditory stimuli designed to elicit startle responses. GSR, tonic, phasic and acceleration signals were recorded simultaneously using the smart cane and an Empatica EmbracePlus reference device. The dataset includes raw/preprocessed signals, extracted GSR features and statistical results from Linear Mixed-Effects Models (LMMs) assessing the effects of startle condition and motion. The analysis identified 12 of 20 extracted features as motion-robust on the smart cane, with moderate-to-large effect sizes (Cohen’s dz = 0.54–1.27). These results indicate that startle-related physiological information can be detected from a cane-embedded GSR sensor during walking despite motion artifacts, supporting its potential use in future assistive and wearable systems for ambulatory startle and stress monitoring.

Background and Objectives: This exploratory study aimed to test the buffering effect of emotional intelligence in the associations between aggression against teachers, perceived stress, and withdrawal intentions. Design and Methods: A sample of 329 secondary school teachers (51.4% female) completed questionnaires assessing aggression against teachers, perceived stress, withdrawal intentions, and emotional intelligence. Results: The results showed that emotional intelligence was negatively related to perceived stress and withdrawal intentions. Across moderated-mediation analysis, there were mixed findings regarding the moderating effects of emotional intelligence in the proposed model. Findings indicated that emotional intelligence moderated only the association between perceived stress and withdrawal intentions. Conclusions: These findings suggest that emotional intelligence is a psychological resource for mitigating the negative effects of perceived stress on negative work attitudes among teaching professionals in the context of harmful student behaviors. Possible avenues for including emotional intelligence in the field of teacher victimization are discussed., -Ayuda predoctoral del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte (FPU16/02238) -Universidad de Málaga y Junta de Andalucía (UMA18-FEDERJA-147) -Grupo PAIDI CTS-1048 de la Junta de Andalucía

The purpose of this study was to research the effect of a stretching program on hamstring flexibility in schoolchildren from Primary and Secondary Education. Methods. For practical reasons and the nature of the present study (i.e. intervention focused on natural groups in a school setting) a cluster-randomized controlled design was used. Balanced by school and grades, natural classes were assigned randomly to form one of the following study groups: warm-up group (WUG), cool-down group (CDG), mix group (MXG) and non-stretching group (NSG). A total of 289 Primary and 99 Secundary schoolchildren were divided into four groups. The 3 EGs performed hamstring stretches for 4 minutes during each Physical Education class over a two-month period, 2 sessions per week (8 weeks, for a total of 16 PE sessions), with a stretch duration of 20 seconds, utilizing the static passive technique. The EG1 performed the stretching exercises during warm-up (4 minutes), the EG2 performed the stretching exercises during cool-down (4 minutes) and finally the EG3 performed the stretching exercises during warm-up (2 minutes) and cool-down (2 minutes) period. The control group followed the standard class program of PE classes. Hamstring flexibility was measured using the PSLR, PKEA and BS-SR test in a random order before and after the program. Finally, after two weeks without performing stretching exercises, a new measurement was taken with the aim of observing the levels of retention. The statistical significance level was set at p < 0.05. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 25.0 for Windows (IBM® SPSS® Statistics). Conclusion. This study indicates that incorporating a static passive stretching program as part of Physical Education classes increases the ROM of the hamstrings in schoolchildren.

RAW DATA FROM THE PAPER ENTITLED "DELETION OF THE WILMS’ TUMOR SUPPRESSOR GENE IN THE CARDIAC TROPONIN-T LINEAGE REVEALS NOVEL FUNCTIONS OF WT1 IN HEART DEVELOPMENT"

  • Muñoz-Chápuli-Oriol, Ramón
We performed a conditional ablation of Wt1 in the myocardium of mice embryos. RNASeq analysis identified differential expression of 137 genes in the E13.5 mutant heart as compared to controls. We provide raw data about the validation by qPCR of four of these genes as well as raw data about differences in proliferation and thickness of the ventricular myocardium. These raw data allowed for elaboration of the figures included in our paper entitled "Deletion of the Wilms’ tumor suppressor gene in the cardiac troponin-T lineage reveals novel functions of WT1 in heart development", published in Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, The original paper was supported by: Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitivity (BFU2017-83907, PID2019-107492GB-I00), Consejería de Salud, Junta de Andalucía (PC0066‐2017/PC-0081-2017), Instituto de Salud Carlos III-TERCEL network (RD16/0011/0030), Consejería de Economía y Conocimiento, Junta de Andalucía (UMA18-FEDERJA-146 and FEDER-UJA).

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a highly prevalent psychiatric and represents a significant public health challenge. Naltrexone (NTX), a mu-opioid receptor antagonist widely used for AUD treatment, has limited efficacy due to side effects and variability in patient response. Interactions between the full-length GAL molecule and the opioid system have been demonstrated. In our recent studies, we showed that the Galanin (1− 15) fragment [GAL (1− 15)] decreased alcohol seeking along with alcohol consumption. This study aims to examine the effects of GAL(1− 15)+NTX on alcohol-seeking behavior and alcohol consumption, as well as the involvement of the mesolimbic system. In rats, we assessed GAL(1− 15)+NTX in reward-seeking and the role of GALR2 using the antagonist M871 in the self-administration test. In addition, GAL(1− 15)+NTX effects were studied on voluntary alcohol using the two-bottle choice paradigm. Locomotor activity and stereotyped behaviors, along with dopa- mine release in the dorsal striatum following alcohol injections, were assessed. Moreover, we have analyzed the transcriptional changes of C-Fos, MOR, POMPC, and dopamine receptors in the ventral tegmental area, nucleus accumbens and the hypothalamus. GAL(1− 15)+NTX combination reduced alcohol seeking in self-administration and two-bottle choice consumption, with GALR2 involved in the effect. In addition, GAL(1− 15)+NTX attenuated alcohol-induced locomotor activity and stereotyped behaviors linked to reduced dopamine release in the dorsal striatum. Notably, these effects were associated with C-Fos, MOR, and dopamine receptor changes, suggesting that the mesolimbic pathway, including the opioid system, is involved in GAL(1− 15)+NTX effects. These results open up the possibility of using GAL(1− 15) with NTX as a novel strategy in AUD.
