This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the efficacy of a cognitive training program using video games in improving neuropsychological, neurological, immunological, and inflammatory parameters in childhood cancer survivors. This study will recruit 56 patients aged 8–17 years who have completed cancer treatment 1–8 years prior to enrollment. Participants will be randomized to either the video game intervention or waiting group. The primary objectives are analyzing potential changes in neuropsychological tests covering all neurocognitive domains, neuroimaging tests (structural, diffusion, and functional imaging), and immune and inflammatory biomarker levels after video game intervention. The secondary objectives are to define the prevalence of neurocognitive deficits in the study population, analyze psychological and emotional self-perception and parental perception after the intervention, and assess the feasibility of implementing this new intervention methodology. The inclusion criteria comprise specific diagnoses (central nervous system [CNS] cancer, hematologic malignancies, extracranial solid tumors, and nonmalignant hematological diseases requiring allogeneic hematopoietic progenitor transplantation) and treatments (CNS surgery, radiotherapy, intrathecal/intraventricular chemotherapy, neurotoxic systemic chemotherapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation). Patients with active disease, relapse, or prior neurological or psychiatric pathology will be excluded. This study will improve the understanding and management of neurocognitive sequelae in childhood cancer survivors and ultimately enhance their quality of life. Trial identifier: NCT06312969, This research was financed by private funds from the Juegaterapia Foundation (PI: APM, institutional code: PI-6221)

This Clinical Trial was registered on clinicaltrials.gov under the numberNCT03701906, Supplemental digital content is available for this article. Direct URL citations appear in the printed text, and links to the digital files are provided in the HTML text of this article on the journal's Web site (www.jpgn.org), Objective: To evaluate the effect of a new probiotic strain combination, Ligilactobacillus salivarius subsp infantis PS11603 and Bifidobacterium longum PS10402, on gut bacterial colonization of preterm infants. Methods: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted in preterm infants from 28 weeks + 0days to 30 weeks + 6days of gestation. Thirty preterm infants were randomly selected after birth to receive either probiotics or placebo. Stool samples were collected before product intake and then sequentially during the first weeks of their admission. Classical microbiological, metagenomics and multiplex immunological analyses were performed to assess the bacterial and immune profile of the samples. Results: Twenty-seven infants completed the study (14 vs 13, probiotic and placebo groups). A higher number of participants were colonized by Lactobacilli in the probiotic group than in the placebo group (93% vs 46%; P = 0.013). Similar results were obtained when analysing bifidobacterial colonization (100% vs 69%; P = 0.041). Earlier colonization was observed in the probiotics group versus the placebo group, specifically 5 weeks for Lactobacillus and 1 week for Bifidobacterium. Although no effect was observed in the faecal immunological profile, a decreasing trend could be observed in Th17 response during the first week of probiotic treatment. None of the adverse events (AEs) registered were related to product intake. Conclusion: Probiotic supplementation with L salivarius PS11603 and B longum subsp. infantis PS10402 enhanced an earlier colonization of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in preterm infants’ guts in 5 and 1 week, respectively. A higher number of infants were colonized by Lactobacilli with the probiotics’ intake at the end of the study, This work was funded by Probisearch SLU

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03048825, Background Patients experiencing myocardial infarction (MI) remain at high risk of future major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). While low-dose colchicine and spironolactone have been shown to decrease post-MI MACE, more data are required to confirm their safety and efficacy in an unselected post-MI population. Therefore, we initiated the CLEAR SYNERGY (OASIS 9) trial to address these uncertainties. Methods The CLEAR SYNERGY trial is a 2 × 2 factorial randomized controlled trial of low-dose colchicine 0.5 mg daily versus placebo and spironolactone 25 mg daily versus placebo in 7,062 post-MI participants who were within 72 hours of the index percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We blinded participants, healthcare providers, research personnel, and outcome adjudicators to treatment allocation. The primary outcome for colchicine is the first occurrence of the composite of cardiovascular death, recurrent MI, stroke, or unplanned ischemia-driven revascularization. The coprimary outcomes for spironolactone are (1) the composite of the total numbers of cardiovascular death or new or worsening heart failure and (2) the first occurrence of the composite of cardiovascular death, new or worsening heart failure, recurrent MI or stroke. We finished recruitment with 7,062 participants from 104 centers in 14 countries on November 8, 2022, and plan to present the results in the fall of 2024. Conclusions CLEAR SYNERGY is a large international randomized controlled trial that will inform the effects of low-dose colchicine and spironolactone in largely unselected post-MI patients who undergo PCI. Background: Tooth autotransplantation is defined as the surgical repositioning of an autogenous tooth in another surgical site within the same individual. Aim: The aim of this research was to analyze the outcome of tooth transplantation using immature donor teeth compared with closed apex teeth and to compare differences between donor tooth positions on the arch. Methods: Electronic and manual literature searches were performed in different databases, including the National Library of Medicine (MEDLINE), EMBASE (OVID), Cochrane Central (CENTRAL), and the digital library of the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC University) from 1978 to March 2021. Studies were selected when they fulfilled the following criteria: only human prospective clinical studies, minimum sample size of 10 patients, minimum follow-up of 1 year, studies reporting or with at least deducible data on survival rates, immediate tooth autotransplantation with completed or incomplete root formation, and publications in the English language. A meta-analysis of random effects was developed to estimate the global effect measure of the survival rate, success rate, and root resorption involving the total sample, as well as open- and closed-apex groups. Results: Twenty-four articles were eligible for analysis. The Cohen’s kappa corresponding to this review was 0.87, and the risk assessment was considered low–moderate for the included studies. Overall survival and success rates were 95.9% and 89.4%, respectively, with a mean follow-up of 4 years and an overall mean age of 25.2 ± 12.3 years. Closed apex teeth showed a survival rate of 3.9% lower than that of open apex teeth. Higher complication rates were found for both inflammatory external root resorption and replacement root resorption in the closed-apex group, without reaching statistical significance. Conclusions: Tooth autotransplantation is a viable treatment alternative, regardless of the apical condition, with high survival and success rates after a mean follow-up of 4 years. Open-apex donor teeth could be considered the gold-standard option, showing lower complication rates when compared to closed-apex donor teeth. Future randomized controlled clinical studies are needed to examine the long-term prognosis of this technique., info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion
