DATASET OF ARTICLE DESIGN AND CHARACTERIZATION OF FOOD NANOEMULGELS STRUCTURED WITH FLAXSEED FIBER: GEL-NANOEMULSION PROPORTION
- Vela Benavides, Fátima
- Alfaro Rodríguez, María del Carmen
- Muñoz García, José
Flaxseed fiber-based nanoemulgels have gained significant interest due to their functional and nutritional benefits, promoting the development of healthy, value-added foods. Additionally, they enhance the stability of formulations, leading to increased resistance to phase separation, oxidation, and degradation during storage. This extends the shelf life of the product without the need for artificial preservatives. In this study, the modification of the rheological properties of nanoemulgels O/W mimic the formulation of a salad dressing was evaluated by varying the proportions of microfluidized emulsion and flaxseed gel-like phase in the formulations. Different ratios were analyzed to understand how these variations affect the viscoelasticity, consistency, droplet size, and shelf-life of the systems.

- Piubeli, Francine
- Garmendia, Junkal
- Beuzón, Carmen R.
- Sánchez Romero, María Antonia
This dataset was generated as a part of a study investigating the mechanisms of bacterial adaptation, with particular emphasis on sequence variability within promoter regions of surface-related genes in Salmonella. The work focused on the opvAB operon, whose transcription is epigenetically regulated through Dam-mediated methylation of GATCs sites and OxyR binding, and plays a key role in Salmonella adaptation under selective pressures such as bacteriophages presence. The dataset, which combines bioinformatic analyses with laboratory experiments,
is organized into several files:
• BLASTn results: .xlsx file containing alignment information obtained from BLASTn searches using the regulatory sequences (RS) and coding sequences (CDS) of surface-related and housekeeping genes from Salmonella.
• G+C content analysis: .dna file containing the sequence of the opvAB operon along with 1.5 kb of upstream and downstream flanking regions. This file enables the identification of the opvAB-containing sequence potentially acquired through horizontal gene transfer by assessing differences in G+C content when compared to the characteristic composition of the Salmonella genome.
• Prevalence of opvAB in the genus Salmonella: .xlsx file quantifying the presence of the opvAB operon in Salmonella genomes available in the NCBI database, organized by species (green) and subspecies (purple).
• Analysis of regulatory elements diversity across Salmonella enterica subspecies: .xlsx files detailing the conservation of the opvAB promoter's regulatory elements (-35 and -10 boxes, four GATCs and four OxyR Binding Sites [OBSs]) across the enterica, arizonae, diarizonae and salamae subspecies.
• Nucleotide composition of OBSs across Salmonella enterica subspecies: .xlsx file showing the percentage of adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) nucleotides for each OxyR binding site (OBSs) across the enterica, arizonae, diarizonae and salamae subspecies.
• Analysis of mutational distribution within the opvAB regulatory region: .xlsx file reporting the location of mutations in the opvAB promoter across Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica genomes containing up to eight mutations, as well as in environmental strains isolated from poultry farms. Sequence variations are annotated using a numerical code: 0=conserved position, 1=substitution, 2=insertion, and 3=deletion.

Rainfall records collected by gauges lead to key forcings in most hydrological studies. Depending on the type of sensor and recording systems, such data are characterised by different temporal resolutions (or temporal aggregations), ta. We present a historical analysis of the temporal evolution of ta based on a large database of operational rain gauge networks in many study areas. Globally, data were collected from 25,423 rain gauge stations in 32 geographical areas, with major contributions from Australia, USA, Italy and Spain. For very old networks, the first recordings were manual with a coarse temporal resolution, usually daily or sometimes monthly. With some exceptions, mechanical recordings on paper rolls started in the first half of the 20th century, usually with times of 1 h or 30 min. Digital records began only during the last three decades of the 20th century. This short period limits research requiring long time series of sub-daily rainfall data, e.g. analysis of the effects of climate change on short-duration (sub-hourly) intense rainfall. Furthermore, in areas with rainfall data characterised over many years by coarse temporal resolutions, the annual maximum depths of short-duration rainfall can potentially be underestimated and their use would lead to errors in the results.Currently, only 50% of the stations provide useful data at any temporal resolution, which practically means ta = 1 min. However, a significant reduction of these problems can be obtained through the information content of the present database. Finally, we suggest an integration of the database by including additional rain gauge networks to improve its usefulness, particularly in a comparative analysis of the effects of climate change on short duration extreme precipitation available at different locations., Los registros de lluvia recopilados por medidores conducen a forzamientos clave en la mayoría de los estudios hidrológicos.

Dataset acquired for the study published in the article: “Volatile organic compounds removal by means of a felt-based living wall to improve indoor air quality”. This is part of the project “Fytorremediation of air and water by means of living walls” financed by the Andalusian Plan of Research, development and innovation 2020 (grant number P18-TP-1657) in the 2018 call for Research projects for universities and qualified public research entities as agents of the Andalusian Knowledge System (Junta de Andalucía, Spain). As vegetation can act as a biofilter capturing air pollutants, this study aims to assess the effectiveness of a living wall module in the removal of the Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs) for IAQ improvement. An airtight glass chamber was used to release contaminants, monitoring the TVOCs both with the chamber empty (control) and with a small Fytotextile® living wall module planted with Nephrolepis exaltata L. A substantial reduction of TVOCs was observed when the living wall was inside the chamber. In few hours, TVOCs levels were reduced below the recommended limit (following Spanish regulations)., Concentrations of volatile organic gases (TVOCs), such as: Hexane; Dichloromethane; Isopropylene; Formaldehyde and Acetone, were used in a closed glass chamber with a vertical garden module planted with Nephrolepis exaltata L. The ability of the plants to reduce the concentration of TVOCs was evaluated.

Dataset acquired for the study published in the article: “Refrigeration capacity and
effect of ageing on the operation of cellulose evaporative cooling pads, by wind tunnel analysis”. This work has been funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) by means of research grant AGL2015-68050-R (Spain). This study investigates the temperature reduction capacity and water consumption of a fan-pad system installed in a greenhouse located in the coastal regions of Almería. The suitability of this system for coastal zones with high environmental humidity during the summer is analyzed. Historical temperature and relative humidity series are studied, obtaining the thermal difference and maximum, medium, and minimum monthly water consumption of the pads based on the operation data of the evaporative cooling pads., Thermal difference, mean water consumption, pressure drop and saturation
efficiency of the evaporative cooling pad
