DATASET OF IMPACT OF WHOLE-BODY VIBRATION ON THORACIC KYPHOSIS AND MUSCLE PROPERTIES IN PARKINSON'S DISEASE: A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL
- González García, Paula
- García-Bernal, María-Isabel
Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that significantly impacts gait, balance, and postural control, leading to thoracic kyphosis and impaired mobility. Whole-body vibration (WBV) has emerged as a potential rehabilitative approach, but its effects on muscle tone and thoracic kyphosis in PD patients remain underexplored.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the immediate and short-term effects of an 8-week WBV training program combined with usual care on thoracic kyphosis, trunk muscle tone, stiffness, elasticity, and gait functionality in individuals with PD.
Methods: A parallel randomized controlled trial was conducted with 46 PD patients, randomly assigned to either a real WBV group or a sham WBV group. Participants underwent two treatment sessions weekly, including usual therapy followed by real or sham WBV. Primary outcomes included thoracic kyphosis measured using the Goniometer-Pro app and viscoelastic muscle properties assessed with the MyotonPRO device. Secondary outcomes included the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test. Measurements were taken at baseline, immediately post-intervention, and after a 12-week follow-up.
Results: The real WBV group showed a significant reduction in thoracic kyphosis and improvements in muscle tone, stiffness, and elasticity, particularly in the lumbo-thoracic spine. No significant changes were observed in the TUG test. The sham WBV group exhibited some improvements, likely due to placebo effects.
Conclusions: WBV combined with usual therapy can enhance postural control and muscle properties in PD patients, particularly in the lower spine. These findings suggest WBV as a beneficial complementary therapy for PD, though high dropout rates should be considered in future studies.

DATASET FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE MANUSCRIPT “VOLTAGE-INDUCED MODULATION OF THE MAGNETIC EXCHANGE IN BINUCLEAR FE(III) COMPLEX DEPOSITED ON AU(111) SURFACE”
- Montenegro-Pohlhammer, Nicolás
- Cárdenas Jirón, Gloria
- Jiménez Calzado, Carmen
This dataset supports the computational study devoted to the deposition of a magnetically coupled binuclear Fe(III) complex on a metallic surface and its interaction with the tip of a STM. Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Wave Function (WFT)-based methods have been employed to determine the electronic structure, geometry, and magnetic coupling constant J of the complex in the gas phase and once deposited over the Au(111) surface. The effects of the electric field on the magnetic coupling were probe using the combination of the DFT with the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) formalism, known as the DFT-NEGF methodology. The dataset contains key input and output files for ORCA and Quantumwise ATK calculations as well as the optimized geometries of the studied systems.

- Callejón Fernández, Raquel María
- Gutiérrez-Praena, Daniel
- Úbeda Aguilera, Cristina
The aim of this project to utilize by-products from the olive agroindustrial sector (olive oil, leaves, …) as well as fungal growth substrates for the production of alternative proteins (Tenebrio molitor larvae) for animal feed and human consumption. One of the specific objectives was to study the nutritional, functional-bioactive, and organoleptic characteristics of the products obtained from these insects. The nutritional composition study included the fatty acid composition and the effect of feeding substrates on it. Thus, this dataset collects data resulting from analysis of methylated fatty acids using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, their corresponding calibration lines, and calculation of content percentages, as well as some indices related to cardiovascular health.

ASSESSMENT OF LIFE HISTORY PARAMETERS OF ASPIDIOTUS NERII (HEMIPTERA: DIASPIDIDAE) TO IMPROVE THE MASS REARING OF APHYTIS MELINUS (HYMENOPTERA: APHELINIDAE) [DATASET]
- González Zamora, José Enrique
- Castillo, M. L.
