Traditionally, coaches have relied on explicit instruction to enhance motor learning
and performance during exercise. However, analogy learning has emerged as an
effective alternative for improving motor learning and performance. This study aimed
to investigate the effects of analogy (ANA) and explicit (EXP) instructions on
performance and muscle activity during a weightlifting task. Twenty novice
participants were randomly and counterbalanced instructed through ANA, EXP or
control instruction prior to a weightlifting task (i.e., both isometric and dynamic lifting
tasks). The experiment spanned three days, encompassing familiarization (day 1),
control and experimental condition 1 (day 2), and experimental condition 2 (day 3).
Muscle activity, force production, and declared knowledge were assessed using a
within-participants comparative design. Participants exhibited significant changes in
lower limb electromyography after instruction, regardless of the type (p < 0.05).
Additionally, the rate of force development (RFD) in the first 200 ms was notably
lower in the EXP group (p < 0.05), while the control instruction showed higher force
production than EXP and ANA (p < 0.05). In conclusion, these findings suggest that
when seeking maximum force production, no instruction may be the best option,
except for rapid force production, in which analogy is not lower than control
instruction. Nonetheless, the instruction can produce a reorganization in motor
control, favoring a greater participation of the lower limbs.

[DATASET] JOURNEYING SOUTH: AGEING WOMEN, RELATIONAL PLACE-MAKING, AND ANDALUSIA IN CONTEMPORARY CINEMA

- Hassall, Trevor
- Joyce, John
The instrument used consisted of four sections. The first section gathered demographic information (age, gender and previous educational background). The second section focuses on oral communication apprehension and includes the Personal Report of Communication Apprehension (PRCA-24; McCroskey, 1984) in the version adapted to university students by Hassall et al. (2000) presented in the appendix of the paper. This second section consists of 24 items to be answered on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from “strongly disagree" to”strongly agree" resulting on 4 sub-scales: presentations, interviews, conversation, group. The third and fourth sections of the questionnaire are focused on self-efficacy: The oral communication self-efficacy questionnaire (Hassall et al., 2013) asks students to what extent are they sure they could do a series communication tasks or actions. The confidence level was to be rated using a scale ranging from 0 (no confidence at all) to 10 (completely confident). The teamwork self-efficacy (TWSE) questionnaire was not obtained from the literature but developed ex novo for this research project. In the development the recommendations of Bandura were followed resulting in a 16 items instrument to be answered from 1 (not at all confident) to 7 (completely confident), where 4 is “unsure”., Oral communication apprehension: - Presentations - Interviews - Conversation - Group 2. Communication self-efficacy. 3. Teamwork self-efficacy: - Leader - Conflict Description of the correspondence scales-items are presented in the appendix of the paper (Arquero et al., 2023)

EXPERIMENTAL DATASET ON ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF A 5-PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR UNDER FSMPC CONTROL
- Marsal Pederzani, Esteban
- Barrero, Federico
- Martínez Heredia, Juana María
This dataset supports an experimental study on the energy efficiency of a five-phase induction motor (IM) controlled via Finite-State Model Predictive Control (FSMPC). The motor is tested under different speeds and load conditions to evaluate total energy consumption and system performance. The setup includes a test bench with a 5-phase IM coupled to a DC motor acting as generator. The study explores the relationship between FSMPC tuning parameters and energy efficiency, providing detailed electrical and thermal measurements for analysis., The main folder (“DATA”) contains 10 data folders that are named according to the date on which the experiment was carried out, following the YYYYMMDD format. For example, the folder '20250108' refers to an experiment conducted on January 8th, 2025.
Within each date-specific folder, there are:
- A description file (.xlsx), which is included to describe the test conditions, allowing for full replication of the experiments. This file is named according to the date on which the experiment was carried out, following the YYYYMMDD format. For example, the file '20250108.xlsx' refers to an experiment conducted on January 8th, 2025.
- N test data files (.xlsx), each containing time-series measurements from an individual experiment.
The description file includes:
- Date of the test session
- Channel mapping: A list of the measured variables (e.g., VDC, IDC, VI, II, temperatures), indicating which sensor board each channel corresponds to.
This allows correct application of sensor-specific calibration (slope and intercept).
- Test parameters: A table summarizing the experimental settings, including:
- Motor speed (rpm)
- Resistive load (ohms)
- FSMPC tuning parameters, such as 'Kxy'
