XRD patterns of the as-prepared STF powders; cell parameters of STF and STF-Ni samples calculated under reducing (5% H2 95% N2) and oxidizing conditions (10% O2 90% N2); in situ XRD patterns of STF and STF-Ni samples collected during the exposure to reducing conditions (240 min, 750 °C) and during the exposure to oxidizing conditions (64 min, 750 °C); TEM images of STF powders, as-prepared, after reduction, and after exposure to CO2; TEM images of STF-Ni nanoparticles after exposure to CO2; EDS elemental composition maps of Fe–Ni exsolved nanoparticles, STF-Ni bulk areas and STF bulk areas; BET isotherms of STF-Ni and STF powders after reduction, This study investigates the redox behavior, the surface composition, and the electrochemical performance of the Ni-doped Sr0.95(Ti0.3Fe0.63Ni0.07)O3 (STF-Ni) and SrTi0.3Fe0.7O3 (STF) perovskites under conditions relevant to solid oxide cell applications. The effect of Ni doping on exsolution and on its reversibility is examined with synergistic characterization techniques. In situ XRD experiments (in 5% H2, up to 750 °C) reveal that FeNi and FeNi3 coexist in alloyed Ni–Fe nanoparticles and that the exsolved Ni is only partially reincorporated in the lattice of STF-Ni on reoxidation in air. In contrast, the reduction of STF leads to the segregation of nonalloyed metallic Fe particles. In situ near-ambient pressure XPS experiments (20 mbar, 550 °C) show that Sr segregates on both perovskites as SrOx during reduction in pure H2, and that the exsolution of Ni and Fe enhances the segregation. Subsequent exposure to CO2 causes the formation of SrCO3 and compositional changes of the STF-Ni nanoparticles, which become richer in Ni due to the back-diffusion of Fe in the lattice. When applied as fuel electrodes of electrolyte-supported solid oxide cells, STF-Ni and STF exhibit distinct behaviors in H2 electro-oxidation and CO2 electrolysis. STF-Ni shows better performance than STF with 3% humidified H2 supply (450 vs 350 mW/cm2 at 0.5 V), while both electrodes achieve similar current density (−450 mA/cm2 at 1.4 V) in reversible CO2 electrolysis with a 50/50 CO/CO2 mixture. These performance differences primarily arise from the interaction with CO2, which causes SrCO3 formation, electrode passivation, and compositional modifications of the nanoparticles., Peer reviewed

The Integrated surveillance records of invasive mosquito detections in Spanish municipalities is a curated dataset covering all 8,132 Spanish municipalities, describing their status in relation to the detection of any of the three invasive mosquito species: Aedes albopictus, Aedes japonicus, and Aedes aegypti.
The dataset spans a 21-year period from the first detection of Aedes albopictus in 2004, to December 31, 2024. For each municipality, it provides information on the year of first detection of any of the three species, the surveillance strategy by which the detection was made and the data source in case of field detections. Detection references from Mosquito Alert records are not included in the dataset, though as all citizen reports, they are publicly accessible via the interactive map at https://map.mosquitoalert.com by selecting both the municipality name and time period.
The dataset has a dual origin, combining two distinct types of information to maximize surveillance capacity in Spain: (i) field sampling data and (ii) citizen science observations. Field data derive from the authors' own records complemented by scientific literature, academic institutions, grey literature and public health authorities. Citizen-sourced data have been collected since 2014 through the Mosquito Alert platform, contributed by thousands of citizen scientists and validated by a team of expert entomologists.
This dataset forms the primary basis for the article: Integrating citizen science and field sampling into next-generation early warning systems for vector surveillance: Twenty years of municipal detections of Aedes invasive mosquito species in Spain by the same authors., Intellectual property (IP) rights for this dataset are held by the authors and their affiliated institutions for field data, and by the Mosquito Alert community regarding citizen science data. Building Permits Cover Letter, During the COVID-19 pandemic, airborne transmission of SARS-CoV-2 via respiratory aerosols was a critical concern in indoor environments. In the city of Santander, Spain, an outbreak in a multi-family residential building during a period of low community transmission revealed vertical clustering of 15 cases in four homes. The building’s design included single interior bathrooms without windows in each home, ventilated by a shared vertical bathroom duct system. Field measurements, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, and multi-zone airflow modeling were performed to evaluate vertical disease transmission potential in the Santander building. Epidemiological and genetic data combined with the field-collected data and modeling indicated that the most plausible transmission route was the bathroom vertical ventilation duct system, which facilitated movement of infectious aerosol between vertically connected homes. Additionally, operating the kitchen exhaust fan can augment the movement of aerosols between occupied spaces increasing the potential for infection. Recommendations for mitigating future risks include the installation of forced air exhaust fans with non-return flaps in bathroom ducts., Peer reviewed
