[Sample preparation and characterization] The layered hybrid organic–inorganic perovskite (C9H19NH3)2CdCl4 (C9CdCl) was synthesized following the procedure described in the associated manuscript. Phase purity was verified by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD)., [Adiabatic calorimetry] Heat-capacity measurements were performed using an AK-6-25 adiabatic calorimeter (AOZT Termis). Measurements were carried out over the temperature range encompassing the structural phase transitions. The transition entropy and enthalpy changes were determined from the temperature dependence of the heat capacity., [Differential scanning calorimetry] Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements were conducted using a TA Instruments DSC Q2000 calorimeter equipped with a Refrigerated Cooling System (RCS90) and a standard DSC cell. Approximately 4 mg of sample was sealed in Tzero Aluminum Hermetic pans and measured under a continuous nitrogen flow. Heat-capacity measurements were calibrated using sapphire standards. Additional DSC experiments were performed at different heating and cooling rates to evaluate the kinetic dependence of the phase transitions., [Powder X-ray diffraction] Laboratory PXRD measurements were carried out using a Rigaku D-Max diffractometer with Cu Kα₁,₂ radiation over the 2θ range 2.5–50°. Temperature-dependent PXRD data were collected using a Rigaku variable-temperature stage, allowing in situ measurements between 93 and 573 K., [Synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction] High-resolution synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction (SXRPD) measurements were performed at the MSPD beamline of the ALBA Synchrotron (Spain) and at beamline I15 of Diamond Light Source (United Kingdom). Temperature-dependent and pressure-dependent diffraction patterns were collected to investigate the structural evolution across the phase transitions.
At Diamond Light Source, high-pressure diffraction experiments were performed using a high-pressure jump cell enabling continuous pressure variation up to approximately 3.5 kbar. Powder samples were loaded into sealed Kapton capillaries, while pressure was transmitted hydrostatically through deionized water surrounding the capillary. Both isothermal and isobaric diffraction measurements were carried out over the ranges 278–330 K and 0.4–2.0 kbar., [High-pressure calorimetry] Barocaloric measurements were performed using a custom-built high-pressure calorimetric setup incorporating a calorimeter within a Be–Cu pressure cell. A surface-mount resistor served simultaneously as sample holder and temperature sensor, while Daphne 7373 oil was employed as the hydrostatic pressure-transmitting medium. Measurements were conducted in an Oxford Instruments OptistatDN cryostat operating between 77 and 400 K., Pressure‑driven phase transitions provide a means to modulate entropy in solids, although achieving large and reversible caloric responses remains a central challenge. The layered hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite (C9H19NH3)2CdCl4 exhibits two first-order transitions near room temperature that underpin its barocaloric response. High‑pressure calorimetry combined with synchrotron X‑ray diffraction shows that compression stabilizes a mixed‑phase region over a wide pressure-temperature range rather than inducing a complete transformation. Consequently, the effective entropy change decreases with pressure, while a substantial reversible contribution is preserved, yielding reversible entropy and temperature changes of ΔSᵣₑᵥ ≈ 136 J kg⁻1 K⁻1 and ΔTᵣₑᵥ ≈ 17 K for a pressure change of 0.8 kbar. This leads to a refrigerant capacity exceeding 4 kJ kg⁻1 with a favorable coefficient of performance in the low-pressure regime. Notably, the large reversible temperature changes achieved at comparatively low pressures and close to room temperature highlight the potential of this material for solid-state cooling. Overall, these results demonstrate that high caloric performance can be achieved without complete phase transformation, reflecting a trade-off between entropy change and reversibility in soft hybrid lattices., This work was supported by Spanish MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033/ and ERDF/EU (PID2024-159457OB-C21, CEX2023-001286-S). DATASET: AI-POWERED UNDERWATER IMAGING REVEALS MULTISCALE PATTERNS OF PRESENCE AND VOLUME-BASED ABUNDANCE IN COASTAL FISHES (VERSION 1.0)
- Catalán, Ignacio Alberto
Data and code associated with the manuscript submitted to a Scientific Journal., [Data files]
1) env_daily (csv). Daily environmental dataset used in the analyses. This file contains daily aggregated environmental variables (e.g. means, totals, or derived metrics) relevant to fish occurrence and abundance. These data are used mainly in daily-scale modelling.
2) env_hourly (csv). Hourly environmental dataset matching the temporal resolution of the underwater image acquisition. This file includes high-frequency environmental covariates used to characterize diel patterns and short-term environmental variability, and to link image-based observations with contemporaneous environmental conditions.
3) images_detections_master (csv). Master dataset of fish detections derived from automated underwater imaging. This file contains timestamps, taxonomic classifications, and associated metadata for all detections used in the study. It represents the biological response data for both presence–absence and volume-related abundance analyses., This repository contains the data and analysis scripts used in the study by Catalán et al., 2026, published in Ecological Indicators. The materials provided here allow full reproducibility of the analyses presented in the manuscript, including modelling of fish presence–absence and volume-based abundance based on long-term underwater imaging and environmental covariates.
The repository includes three data files and two analysis scripts, described below., Peer reviewed

This work presents the biocidal effects and chemical compositions of two essential oils (EOs) obtained by hydrodistillation of Eucalyptus flocktoniae subsp. flocktoniae and E. flocktoniae subsp. hebes. The two subspecies studied had different chemical composition, when analysed by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry with 1,8-cineole (56.98%), trans-pinocarveol (20.38%) and α-pinene (5.86%) being the major components of E. flocktoniae subsp. flocktoniae and spathulenol (25.09%), p-cymene (21.20%), 1,8-cineole (10.74%) and α-pinene (8.93%) are the major components of E. flocktoniae subsp. hebes. These oils were evaluated for their insect antifeedant, nematicidal and phytotoxic activities. The biocidal tests showed that E. flocktoniae subsp. hebes was the most active against Myzus persicae and Rhopalosiphum padi. While, E. flocktoniae subsp. flocktoniae was not antifeedant. None of the investigated EOs were active against both Spodoptera littoralis and Meloidogyne javanica root-knot nematode. Moreover, the EOs extracted from these two subspecies showed a significant phytotoxic effect., This work has been partially supported by grant PID2019-106222RB-C31/SRA (State Research Agency, Spain10.13039/501100011033)., Peer reviewed
