DATASET_EI_AGE IN UNEMPLOYED.
- Gómez-Hombrados, Jorge
- Extremera-Pacheco, Natalio
The main goal of this study was to examine the moderating role of age in the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and mental health indicators among unemployed individuals. A sample of 401 unemployed participants were evaluated in EI, depressive symptoms, happiness. Moderation analyses showed that age moderated the relationship between EI and depressive symptoms, after controlling gender and length of unemployment, showing a stronger association among younger participants with lower EI abilities. However, this pattern was not found for happiness. These findings address knowledge gaps regarding age-EI interactions within mental health contexts and age's moderating effect in unemployment stage. Also, it is highlighted the importance of developing targeted EI training interventions to mitigate the negative mental health effects of unemployment, especially among vulnerable demographic groups like young unemployed individuals., This research was supported by PAIDI Group CTS-1048 (Junta de Andalucía), the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (PID2020-117006RB-I00), and Spanish Ministry of Universities (FPU21/02323).

HEIGHT AND DIAMETER OF NOCTURNAL PERCHES SELECTED BY JUVENILES AND ADULTS OF COMMON CHAMELEON (CHAMAELEO CHAMAELEON).

Cannibalism by adults of conspecific juveniles has been reported in wild populations of common chameleon (Chamaeleo chamaeleon). In view of this cannibalistic behaviour by adults, we hypothesise that juvenile chameleons should select nocturnal perches with distinct characteristics from those chosen by adults, thus avoiding them. To test this hypothesis, we examined nocturnal perch selection by adults and juveniles over seven months of field monitoring of a chameleon population in southern Iberia. Our results support the hypothesis of cannibalism as a selective force leading to differential habitat use by juveniles and adults because juveniles select unstable perches that are inaccessible to adults and avoid spatial overlap with adults, including sharing the same plant foot.
The database is structured in six fields describing the following information about each common chameleon found: date, type of plant, branch diameter (mm) and height (cm) on which the individual was found, weight (g) and age (juvenile/adult)., N/A

- López-Figueroa, Félix
Proyecto de investigación «Proyectos I+D+i» 2020 - Modalidades «Retos Investigación» y

DATASET OF "MOTION-ROBUST FEATURES FOR ELECTRODERMAL STARTLE MONITORING WITH A SMART CANE" PUBLICATION.

This dataset supports the study of startle-related physiological responses during walking using a wireless smart assistive cane equipped with a Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) sensor. Data were collected from 22 healthy participants walking through university areas while exposed to sudden auditory stimuli designed to elicit startle responses. GSR, tonic, phasic and acceleration signals were recorded simultaneously using the smart cane and an Empatica EmbracePlus reference device. The dataset includes raw/preprocessed signals, extracted GSR features and statistical results from Linear Mixed-Effects Models (LMMs) assessing the effects of startle condition and motion. The analysis identified 12 of 20 extracted features as motion-robust on the smart cane, with moderate-to-large effect sizes (Cohen’s dz = 0.54–1.27). These results indicate that startle-related physiological information can be detected from a cane-embedded GSR sensor during walking despite motion artifacts, supporting its potential use in future assistive and wearable systems for ambulatory startle and stress monitoring.

DATASET FOR: STUDENT AGGRESSION AGAINST TEACHERS, STRESS, AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AS PREDICTORS OF WITHDRAWAL INTENTIONS AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS.
DATASET_AGGRESSION_WITHDRAWAL_TEACHERS
- Mérida-López, Sergio
- Extremera-Pacheco, Natalio
Background and Objectives: This exploratory study aimed to test the buffering effect of emotional intelligence in the associations between aggression against teachers, perceived stress, and withdrawal intentions. Design and Methods: A sample of 329 secondary school teachers (51.4% female) completed questionnaires assessing aggression against teachers, perceived stress, withdrawal intentions, and emotional intelligence. Results: The results showed that emotional intelligence was negatively related to perceived stress and withdrawal intentions. Across moderated-mediation analysis, there were mixed findings regarding the moderating effects of emotional intelligence in the proposed model. Findings indicated that emotional intelligence moderated only the association between perceived stress and withdrawal intentions. Conclusions: These findings suggest that emotional intelligence is a psychological resource for mitigating the negative effects of perceived stress on negative work attitudes among teaching professionals in the context of harmful student behaviors. Possible avenues for including emotional intelligence in the field of teacher victimization are discussed., -Ayuda predoctoral del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte (FPU16/02238)

PROGRAMA FLEX ISQUIOS EN PRIMARIA Y SECUNDARIA.
- Merino-Marban, Rafael
- López-Fernández, Iván
The purpose of this study was to research the effect of a stretching program on hamstring flexibility in schoolchildren from Primary and Secondary Education.
Methods. For practical reasons and the nature of the present study (i.e. intervention focused on natural groups in a school setting) a cluster-randomized controlled design was used. Balanced by school and grades, natural classes were assigned randomly to form one of the following study groups: warm-up group (WUG), cool-down group (CDG), mix group (MXG) and non-stretching group (NSG).
A total of 289 Primary and 99 Secundary schoolchildren were divided into four groups. The 3 EGs performed hamstring stretches for 4 minutes during each Physical Education class over a two-month period, 2 sessions per week (8 weeks, for a total of 16 PE sessions), with a stretch duration of 20 seconds, utilizing the static passive technique. The EG1 performed the stretching exercises during warm-up (4 minutes), the EG2 performed the stretching exercises during cool-down (4 minutes) and finally the EG3 performed the stretching exercises during warm-up (2 minutes) and cool-down (2 minutes) period. The control group followed the standard class program of PE classes. Hamstring flexibility was measured using the PSLR, PKEA and BS-SR test in a random order before and after the program. Finally, after two weeks without performing stretching exercises, a new measurement was taken with the aim of observing the levels of retention. The statistical significance level was set at p < 0.05. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 25.0 for Windows (IBM® SPSS® Statistics).
Conclusion. This study indicates that incorporating a static passive stretching program as part of Physical Education classes increases the ROM of the hamstrings in schoolchildren.
